  1. Well, I just learned that my Chase Sapphire card will give me some protection, so there's that. I do not already know the answer. Why so snarky?
  2. Nope. I've been sick about 3-4 times since March 2020 with colds/sore throat, coughing, sneezing, etc and tested repeatedly negative each time. The only time I tested positive was on a PCR in December 2021 and was asymptomatic. Rapid tests were negative.
  3. 99%+ of people on a particular cruise don't use their travel insurance. Of course, in this group, many of you will tell stories of how you needed your travel insurance on one of your many many trips. But that's not statistically relevant. Just because you've been to the site of a disaster doesn't mean you were at the site at the time of the disaster. If I bought travel insurance for every cruise I've taken, I probably would have spent over $10,000. If my cruise fare wasn't refunded if I was denied boarding due to Covid, or if I were flying to the ship, I'd buy travel insurance.
  4. I didn't say it's true. lol. It's my NY paranoia assumption.
  5. if you close your eyes, chicken tastes like Frogs legs
  6. I always assume my bags won’t make it on the ship unless I tip well.
  7. I’m cruising on Beyond in October so I’ll get a refund if my wife and I test positive for Covid before we sail. We don’t have travel insurance and we’re not flying to the ship. For the past 24 hours I’ve had a dry scratchy cough and I feel like something is coming but maybe not. I tested negative this morning on a home test. I wonder what I’m supposed to do if we test negative 2 days before our cruise but we wake the day of the sailing feeling like we may be coming down with something but still test negative. Do we stay home and sacrifice thousands of dollars and a long planned vacation because something MAY be brewing or do we go to the ship as planned and hope we don’t get worse? What would most of you say and what would you actually do in this scenario?
  8. If you order two of them, and stack them up, you have a 1" thick steak.
  9. Right? As i'm sitting at my desk on a monday morning in midtown Manhattan, my first thought is "Any day in an Infinite Verandah at sea, is better than a day at work."
  10. I will be on a 9 night cruise on beyond. 3 Caribbean Sea days I’ll have lunch in port. I think I can find enough to eat for 6 lunches in OV. Surely I can find a good burger and fries somewhere 1-2 of those days. Salads a few other days. Indian food or Asian stir fry sounds good too. Chicken legs sound pretty good actually. Do they make fried chicken ?
  11. It might be fully reserved on your sailing or your sailing is too far in the future to permit booking yet, or it's a glitch. When are you sailing?
  12. There's really no good reason not to call. If the price drops further in the future, you can get that too.
  13. I sailed on a few ships in the 80's with giant picture windows. Carnival Jubilee and Tropicale specifically. This was before the cruise lines started building ships with balconies on most exterior cabins. The biggest difference between infinite verandahs and cabins on the ships without balconies was the windows didn't open on the older ships.
  14. Why do you prefer smaller ships?
  15. Me too. And they don’t look anything like verandahs.
  16. I’m not sure this is a great idea since it’s possible all the larger tables have already been reserved if the cruise has many groups on board. I’d book one table for 6 and sort out the money with your friends.
  17. book a room for the night before so you can shower and take a nap. Tell them it will be a "hold and charge" since you'll be arriving after they run the night audit and you want the room when you get there at 3am.
  18. You took the words right out of my mouth. Crazy, right? I was going to say the exact same thing.
  19. I know what you mean. People on CC say to me: "You can sail Seabourn for that." But that's not a choice.
  20. People who go to the horse track every day shouldn’t be surprised when there are horse races to see.
  21. We’re not wild and crazy but we always had fun on our 10 Carnival cruises. No regrets.
