  1. I was able to book my reservations on Beyond in February for my October cruise.
  2. I know I saved $4500 on a sky suite on my sailing by booking through the MGM casino phone number. I don’t really care what my coin in is. The most I’m willing to lose on a Caribbean cruise is about $1,500 so I’ll come out way ahead. also I understand the odds on a ship are worse than the odds at a land casino but odds and paybacks are based on an infinite number of plays and statistical totals. Each individual player is likely to do worse than calculated odds because every once in a while someone gets lucky and hits a jackpot and skews the odds for the rest of us. But the fun of gambling is you can possibly be that jackpot winner. If you gamble thinking you’re going to try to win and pay for your cruise you’ll likely lose more than you planned. If you go to a ship casino and have fun and gamble and stay within your limits, you can have a good time and if you get lucky maybe you’ll be the one leaving as a winner.
  3. Hey techies my friend just gave me a kindle fire 7 he got on Prime Day for $30. I haven’t unboxed it yet but it might be great for ship poolside or beach reading and I won’t worry if someone steals it. Does anyone know if you can read from these in bright sunlight ? I figure this thread is a good place to ask. 😀
  4. If Celebrity says you really need the test to board the ship, then yes. You need the test. The rules seem to be changing weekly so keep checking.
  5. It’s safe to say most cruise critic regulars (and this is the audience you asked ) tip in addition to the included service charges as a gesture of appreciation and goodwill.
  6. Try the receiving area on deck 2. They have to weigh all the meat and fish when it’s delivered. Very accurate.
  7. Yes. One of us who shall not be named, HER, does snore. Hmmmm Good point. I was going to have her sleep on the verandah.
  8. Thank you. Booking the SkySuite was a reach for me as it was. I have no regrets and have looked forward to it for almost a year, like you said. Having access to the Retreat Deck/lounge and Luminae is as important as the extra space, and frankly, what am I going to do with a 2 bedroom penthouse anyway since it's just 2 of us... I expect to love my cruise.
  9. My Beyond sailing on 10/26 is 9 nights departing Bayonne, NY and the first stop is Bermuda so it's likely they won't eliminate testing for this cruise. I'm ok with that. I prefer knowing virtually everyone on board is vaxed, boosted, and tested negative. That's no guarantee of anything, but it's one more layer of comfort the ship wont be an infectious steaming pot of oozing Covid.
  10. Thank you. I decided NOT to use the power of move-up and I will leave the nominations the same. I don't feel like spending $4,000-$5,000 to go from a SkySuite S-1 to the Penthouse. I would LOVE the Penthouse, but I have better things to spend $5,000 on. The information above, however, might be useful to someone else considering the upgrade.
  11. The likelihood is the people updating the US site are slower than those tasked with updating the Canadian site.
  12. Brilliant, because I was going to write the same thing till I saw you beat me to it.. LOL Some will say you're snarky and inappropriate. I say it's great to have a sense of humor on this site to keep it interesting, as long as you're not mean to someone else or purposely providing false information.
  13. I think if I were inviting people to join me I’d want to eat with them in Luminae and hang out on the retreat deck and lounge so the inside cabin idea wouldn’t really work.
  14. We have the premium beverage package, and we're not into high end, expensive wines, so it doesn't make much sense for us to buy wine and bring it along. Every situation differs.
  15. Not a desirable situation. That sucks. I suspect the problem will be fixed by the 7th night and future cruisers in that cabin will have you to thank. I suggest a secret hidden note for future guests to find telling them what you suffered so they could be comfortable. If I found the note, I'd send an email thanking you profusely. . I suggest you ask for some sort of compensation for your discomfort. At the least you should get a complimentary dinner for two in a specialty restaurant.
  16. I find this information from months ago interesting. I wonder if someone booked a category guarantee and have an assigned cabin months before sailing, they can get bumped up to a higher category during the move up process closer to the sailing date for free.
  17. I wouldn’t expect free. But if I were paying for a 2 bedroom suite I’d like to know how much additional it would be if I invited 2 more people to join us.
  18. If I won a move up bid for a 2 bedroom Penthouse Suite on Beyond, would Celebrity allow me to invite friends or family to join us? How much would Celebrity charge for guests if they already had a suite to stay in?
  19. when is your cruise ? I just got the move up email for 10/26 cruise.
  20. Maybe the tender is also used for zip lining.
  21. Actually, if you read above, some people have said they'd go on their cruise if they had a cold and tested negative. It's not so cut and dry.
