@grapau27  Graham and Pauline, I too was saddened and shocked to learn that the lovely and vibrant Princess of Wales was diagnosed with cancer.  I hope the surgery removed all the cancer cells and that the chemotherapy eradicates any stray cancer cells.  Sending positive thoughts that she makes a full recovery and has a long and happy life with her family and eventually as your Queen.

    Lenda

Well said Lenda. Such a lovely woman. In my prayer book.

  2. Good morning Dailyites from a foggy 55 degree morning. Waking up, promising myself to choose joy today.

Goodness what a sad, messy, tragic world we live in for those suffering from homelessness, illness, loss of friends and family,  wars.. the list just keeps growing. Prayers lifted for our Daily family.

This morning we are expecting a check in call from the VA caregiver program. They ask if meds changed, any new falls or new diagnosis. Afterwards,  we are going to go goof off. It's been a crummy week..

I still feel young. I'll be 70 this year, and still can't believe it!

Hoping Sam continues to be pain free.

Happy to hear Ann's sister is going home, and pray she works hard at her recovery.

Jacqui and Vanessa wishing you pain free days.

    Blessings to our friends here!

Debbie, from what he says he should use more moisturizer because she says he doesn't use a sufficient amount. (BTW, that's what I would tell him, too!)  Also she recommended laundry detergent for sensitive skin, fragrance free.  No brand mentioned.  She said the Dove for men soap he uses now is okay.  We used to use a discontinued brand which contained cocoa butter so I wonder if that has something to do with it, too.  He complained of itchy scalp on the back of his head and she apparently called in a prescription for something (shampoo?  lotion?) because there was a call from Walgreens a few hours later.  Guess we'll find out what it is when we pick it up. This is all taken from what he told me because I wasn't in the examination room with him.

Sandi, I use Noodle and Boo laundry detergent. It's for babies, but is ultra stain cleaning and gentle. Our dermatologist recommends it. And smells so nice! (Amazon)

For Allen's itchy miserable skin, she recommends Melkfett Ringelblume. A cream, also on Amazon.

  4. Good morning Dailyites from a 58 degree morning warming to 63 with rain. Oliver looked at me when I opened the door to let him out, then ran back to bed and snuggled with Allen. SRD (spoiled rotten dog)

Today Allen has bloodwork for his appt at Nephrologist next week, then on we go to his skin check at the dermatologist. His eczema breakout is so painful, especially the tops of his feet.

Vanessa, thanks for keeping Ron on the care list. He's struggling from Alzheimers and it's heartbreaking to see him. He is on his next round of chemo meds which makes him feel queasy, and another strong med to help with shoulder/back pain. He turned 81 Monday and said he should have given up the ghost 5 year's ago.

If the weather isn't too crazy, we will go downtown for lunch. I miss the French onion soup at one of our favorite restaurants.

Our group of friends are rounding up invites to a local winery where the eclipse should be awesome. Up on the hilltop overlooking the vineyards. We signed up, but it's going to be really crazy here with so many people flocking to Austin and vicinity to watch the total eclipse. Exciting!

I would enjoy today's recipe. Thanks for posting Debbie. No to the drink and wine.

I accept the big bang theory.

I was so saddened to hear about the PA family. I read where the mom was burned trying to get to her kids, and one of the saved kid's has broken leg and bones.

Heartfelt prayers lifted for so many suffering today. Tana, Jacqui, Vanessa, Debbie, Penny, and many more in my prayer book.

Some awful news from a town not too far from here. There was a terrible fire around midnight. The Mother and 2 children got out (ages 10 and 1), helped by a neighbor and policeman with a ladder put up to the 2nd floor. The children were flown to Children's Hospital. But sadly the Father and 4 children, ages 7,6,3 and 1 month, perished. The house next door also burned down and even a house across the street had its siding melt from the heat. There was also some problem with little water from the nearby fire hydrant. They just had the devastated Grandfather on the news. So very sad. Prayers for the family.

Such devastating news. God bless this family and those who lost their home. The father of the kid's was only 27. Such a tragedy.

  6. Good morning Dailyites.

Thank you to all who contribute. Know you are appreciated.

It was a long night with DH tossing about.

I have the makings for quiche tonight but it is not broccoli and cheddar. We will have a salad and French bread to go along with it.

  7. On our last Rotterdam cruise (50+ days) Nov/Dec/Jan 2024 we called housekeeping. They brought 5 different pillows from flat to fluffy. I like very flat, DH very fluffy. Worked for us:)

  8. Still Good morning Dailyites here. 59 currently at 11, warming to 63.

I'm a happy person, don't need to act it.

I recycle everything. I did not know Lenda can't recycle near her in Texas. We all have recycle bins here in Williamson county. We were not able to recycle glass when we lived in Coeur d'alene, but I paid a fee to a private company that recycled it.

I really, truly would have loved to see Israel, but life got in the way.

    Have a awesome day!

  9. Good morning Dailyites from a 60 degree morning with showers possible.

What a gully washer it was during the night! Lightning and big booms of thunder, sending poor Oliver under the blankets and holding onto me for dear life. And I noticed about 7:15 our sprinklers going off, so ran and turned them off, forgetting Sunday was our 1 watering day.

And a happy St Patrick's day to all celebrating.

Sending Bon Voyage, Happy Birthday, and Happy Anniversary greetings to our Daily friends.

I fell asleep last night before I finished my prayers, and woke up this morning knowing exactly where I left off. Repeated prayers for our friends here, and our loved ones. I hope Tana has a better day coping with her oxygen.

Debbie, I love Guinness stew! We aren't crazy about corned beef, but I make the stew even out of season. Creamy and delicious!

  11. @grapau27 and @dfish.. Graham and Debbie

I grew up in a dysfunctional family. My mother went to parts unknown when I was 15. My dad remarried 8 months later. I couldn't live in the environment. Abuse, groundings, my stepmother had serious issues. I moved in with a family that charged little rent and I had 2 good jobs. I graduated and got a great job at Bank Americard in Chicago, and year's later working for Hughes Helicopters,  McDonnell Douglas, Boeing.

I look back on those years now and I'm pretty proud of myself.

I wish I had a Graham/Pauline, Debbie/Sue to get me through the tough times. God bless all who have stepped forward.

    Thank you Joy.

Pauline was 10 years old 52 years ago when her sister aged 16 brought her husband to be to to her parents house.

Pauline is upset that he died aged 69.

He changed 8 years ago and was not the nice person we thought he was.

Sarah is most upset that her parents never reached out to her in the last 8 years and especially his last 5 weeks when he knew he had terminal liver cancer and told neighbours but not us.

She only found out when we were concerned that 2 ambulances 2 paramedic cars and 2 police cars came into our close and we rang her and she rang her mam who finally answered her phone calls to tell Sarah her dad was dead.

I remember when Rich suggested adding more stuff to the Fleet Report. It was during the Covid outbreak when some if us (Roy, Denise, myself) were getting kicked off ships. It helped a lot getting us through the dark times.

Thank you Rich and all who contribute! You are appreciated!

If the weather holds, we will go to Farmer's market and lunch. I have leftover soup, salad, and crusty bread for dinner.

Blessings to each of you. Have a safe, healthy, happy weekend.

  14. Good morning Dailyites

My prayer list keeps growing. We have a friend with Covid, a neighbor whose husband passed away yesterday after a long illness, friends who wanted to add insulation to their attic found broken, rotted, beams and a lot of water damage. Allen's body scan was canceled again, and got an email yesterday that our doctor left the practice. A new doctor wants to see him before he continues any more Dupixent shots for his eczema, so he's left with new breakouts again. And last added but not serious, our girlfriend driving home got caught in the rainstorms and she got a flat tire on the freeway.

Continuing on, prayers for our lovely friends here on the Daily, their families and friends.

    Bon Voyage @Lady Hudson

We will have a quiet weekend. Just a few minor chores, and a patio table to assemble.

Well! There's 2 bucks behind our fence that just tipped our bird feeders, chomping away, after Oliver and I just filled them. There's baby bunnies eating strawberries in our yard. It looks like 3 strawberries are enough to fill their tummies as they leave the 4th strawberry behind.

Blessings to you. Have a great weekend! Xx
