    Emerald, Aloha deck, Starboard side

Also port side.  Appears to be forward cabins.

When you say forward, is this just forward of the forward elevators or the mid-ship elevators?

Our cruise is not till August --- hoping they don't need quarantine rooms by then!    Even so, our ship seems fairly well sold out --- none of these 50% full or less cruises folks are talking about now.  I can only imagine the number of move over offers they will need if they still need quarantine rooms!  (Assuming they have not already taken the quarantine rooms out of inventory).

  2. We are planning on spending several days in London before our cruise and want to take a day trip to Windsor.

I know it is too early to buy train tickets, but I am trying to understand the restrictions.  I believe our best option is to travel via the GWR from London Paddington to Windsor Eton Central and purchase Off-Peak Day Return Tickets.

    • Are these tickets cheaper in advance or can we just buy them day of?
    • It seems I pick a specific train for the Outward direction.  What happens if we miss this train or choose to take a different one on the same day?  Will we be able to just get on another train or will we need to exchange our tickets at the station?
    • If we choose an open return so we can take any train in the afternoon/evening once we are done exploring Windsor, can we just get on any train or will we need to exchange our "open" ticket for a specific one at the station?

    Thanks!

Yes, you can book onboard, but they only have a certain number of buses for each disembarkation.  If you wait, the buses could be all booked except for the ones that leave last.  If you prebook, you have given them your flight times, so they know which bus you need to be be on.  We always verify our bus times as soon as we board.  I’m like you……..get as much done as possible way before sail date!

    Thank you everyone!

I know that our luggage tags will be based on our flight times, but I did not realize you were assigned a specific bus/time.  Is that true?  I assumed they just filled up the airport transfer busses as folks came out of the terminal.

    Thanks!

    Brad

  4. I am planning on booking our transfers back to the airport as soon as I get on board vice having them added to our booking ahead of time.  That way I can use on-board credit for them.

Has anyone ever found out that they transfers were sold out and they could not do this?   Is the price different on board than ahead of time?

There will be 2 of us disembarking a Princess ship in Southampton and flying out of Heathrow.  I am under the impression that this is a rare port where ship transfers are more reasonable for the distance to the airport.

    Thanks!

  5. Planning our second back to back for next year so interested in how this progresses.  This one will be on the Odyssey.

For folks who are on ships still having the lunch (especially on the Odyssey), would love to see some sample menus to get an idea.  (We did not stay on for lunch during our last back to back.)

Also, I believe the Key offers lunch in the MDR on boarding day - although that might be only on some ships as well.   If offered, is that the same as the B2B lunch or two separate lunches?

    Thanks!

    Brad

  6. We are on a cruise this summer scheduled for the Dun Laoghaire port.   I assumed that a shuttle would be provided info Dublin.   Is that the case?   If so, would it be included or an extra charge?

I enjoy trains, but assumed if the shuttle was included, I might as well take the transportation provided from the pier.

Do people find the train a better option?

    Thanks!

    Pre-covid, there was no Odyssey.

On Anthem and Quantum (like Odyssey), the host's podium is outside the entrance to Coastal Kitchen.  You speak to that person and ask about availability.  You won't have your answer until you ask that question.

Do you have to ask each day you would like a reservation, or can you request the days you want for the whole sailing on day 1?

  8. We have our first JS booked on the Odyssey of the Seas in Feb 2023.

I am curious what the experience has been being able to get dinner reservations in Coastal Kitchen from a JS.   What is the process for requesting it?   What drives if we will be able to get reservations?     How many nights have folks been able to get reservations for?

I know things are "different" at the moment, but I am hopeful things will be closer to normal by February of next year, so I guess I am looking for pre-COVID experiences.

    Thanks!

  9. Thanks everyone.

I called my TA, who after checking with Princess, said without any BB cabins available they could not refare me and have me keep my cabin.  The best he could do was a BC cabin -- but there are no good locations for those.

I'll keep watching to see if any BB cabins open up!

    Thanks!

Emerald cruise not until Sept 2022,but as elite, and able to,I used DMW to book table for 2 each night at 6.00 pm.

A few weeks later signed on to peruse Medallion App and dining reservations had disappeared.

Now only one dining room available to book and if you want table for 2,only time is

    8.40 pm.

I can’t believe all tables for two in both restaurants are fully booked so far in advance.

Any phone no I can ring

Thanks in advance for any suggestions

We are booked on Emerald in Sept 2022.  Our dining reservations for a table for 2 disappeared, came back, and then disappeared again.   I am going to guess it is a glitch that is going to work itself out and our reservations are still there.

  11. Good Morning,

I have a cruise booked for next summer under "best price" (i.e. not princess plus) and am hoping to take advantage of the latest sale, but keep best price.

    • No cabins in my category (BB) are available.  But, with the current promotion of free upgrade, a BB would be priced the same as a BF.  Normally, I know it is hard to refare if cabins are sold out, but does this make it easier?
    • I have EZAIR flights booked for this trip (international).   Will I be able to keep my easier flights/price or will I need to rebook?   The fares are higher now.

I am booked through a TA and would like to know if these things are possible before I reach out.

    Thanks!

    Brad

  12. I would guess this has nothing to do with a TA booking a block of cabins, but the fact that TA websites often show more inventory then the Princess website.   Princess may only show 10 or 20 cabins in each category, even if more are available.

If you see a cabin available on any site, you should be able to reach out to whomever you booked the cruise through -- Princess or TA -- and request that cabin.

Right now they're using all cabins forward of the forward elevators; the fire doors are closed.  Saw crew members heading that way to deliver meals.  We talked to the Hotel Director yesterday morning.  They need enough cabins for sick passengers and crew plus new crew coming on board.  And they have 80 crew members joining the ship soon.

Also, I mentioned that we learned nine day before sailing about being booted from our suite.  Turns out another couple was called three days before.  Good grief!

Ok, now I am really confused!   If they are using the forward part of the Aloha deck, why did they boot you from your suite, which I believe is aft?

On Emerald, it is Aloha deck.

We're on Emerald right now.  Got a call 9 days before the cruise saying we had to move from our Aloha penthouse (booked in August 2020) to a mini-suite, of which there were few, and they would comp our fare.  We were supposed to have suite amenities so talked twice to Guest Services.  To make that happen, they changed our cabin to the original cabin on the app.  Then GS called and said we could move to our penthouse, which we did today on day 4, still with the fare comped. At least two other couples have relocated to Aloha suites.

So what is the range of cabins on Aloha deck for the Emerald?  I assume they are not using the whole deck for isolation/quarantine, right? 🙂

  15. The notification of cancellation offering me the 10% off says this "Guests with current and active bookings affected by this suspension may receive a 10% OFF discount on their next NCL cruise, valid for all published sailings through and including December 31, 2022."  so I believe it is sail by Dec 2022, not book.

I will have my travel agent call NCL, but I was just posting on here first just to see if folks have tried to get an extension and have been successful.

    Thanks!

  16. Hi,

We each have a 10% off voucher in our Latitudes account from a canceled cruise.  It appears the T&C state we need to sail by Dec 2022.

We are looking at a cruise in Jun 2023.  Has anyone been successful in getting the expiration extended to use it past the expiration date?

    Thanks!

What I read was the refundable FCC can be requested only if it has not been used for 12 months, so with this wording it implies if you use it, and then cancel or Princess cancels newly booked cruise with said FCC it is returned as nonrefunable FCC otherwise there would be no reason to state it has to be unused for 12 months.

you might get another answer by calling, but get  it in writing

Thanks... I guess I will have to call, but I read in another thread the phone lines are down this weekend.

Anyone have any experience with this?

    Thanks!

    Brad

  18. Sorry if this has been covered before...

I have FCCs from a cancelled cruise.   One for the amount of our deposit, and the other a bonus for not requesting a cash refund.

My understanding is that I can still request a cash refund of the first one if I don't use it within a year --- even though it is good for about 21 months.   The bonus one has no cash value.

But, what if I use the FCCs to book a cruise that I then cancel within the next year -- do I still have the option of cashing the first one out?

If I cancel the cruise, but rebook another one to sail within the expiration of the FCCs, will I be able to apply both of them in full to the new booking?

Bottom line -- is there an advantage to waiting to use it if I may change my plans?

    Thanks!

Also received email notification about Covid on our ship and received a phone call from Provincial Public Health today informing us of the fact.  We were sent for testing this afternoon.

Do you have any symptoms or are you being tested just because you were on this sailing?
