  1. Thank you. I will disagree somewhat. I think Crystal was somewhat ahead of Cunard in the quality of speakers but Cunard was the only other line I've seen in the same league. I did appreciate that often Cunard recruited from a different pool, often coming from different nationalities, especially appreciated on occasions where I went directly from Crystal to Cunard of vice-versa. What set the 2 lines apart for me is I much more often saw Crystal speakers mingling with guests around the ship. Roy
  2. Happy Sunday. Thank you Rich, Eva, Tina, Dixie, Ann, and Graham. I will not have a hamburger today but like all the days, especially Amnesty International. I like the Twain quote with some reservations. I've been to Macapa just once, Prinsendam in 2017 Main claim to fame is it sits PRECISELY on the Equator. Would we have the Fleet Report and Daily without Alan Turing? The meal sounds nice. My alternative is Chilled Indian Lassi Soup, Melange of Tropical Fruit, Oven Roasted Chicken with Rice, and Strawberry Ice Cream as served on MS Prinsendam May 27, 2015. Safe remaining travels, Vanessa. Roy
  3. When I was in cardiac rehab I learned that one of the effects of dehydration was a decrease in blood pressure and an increase in heart rate. Just before we started our rehab they took our vitals and if they were out of range we had to drink water and get them back in range before we could start our routine (the water worked quite quickly). I have also found that when dehydrated I would sometimes start sweating profusely (cant explain but it's happened a number of times). I think you mentioned sweating as you felt ready to faint. I hope you can get a full copy of the EMS report with all the vitals to show your PCP. Roy
  4. Today's sunrise is from my 2013 Blount cruise from New Orleans to Saint Petersburg. On May 27 we visited Carabelle, Florida. Roy

  6. I have no reusable grocery bags. I do all my shopping with HAL blue tote bags for smaller purchases and Crystal for larger ones. Roy
  7. Thank you Rich, Eva, Debbie/Tina, Dixie, and Ann. Many years ago a friend had a collection of old player pianos and juke boxes, very interesting contraptions. I love cellophane tape and tolerate sun screen as a necessity but mostly try to keep covered. I like the quote and have been to Rarotonga twice, Crystal Serenity in 2011 and Crystal Symphony in 2018. Operation Dynamo sounds like a complicated mix of pluses and minuses but a good example of making lemonade out of lemons. I'll pass on the wraps. My alternative is Chilled Apricot Soup with Snow Egg, Summer Fruit Salad wit Sambuca, and Broiled London Striploin as served on MS Prinsendam May 27, 2015. Yesterday was a good day for walking with a total of 45 minutes spread across 3 walks. I also got my COVID booster (my 6th shot) on Wednesday. Only side effects was a bit of a sore arm for a few hours yesterday. Sandi, WOW! It does sound like the paramedics were very much on the ball. It sounds to me like you MAY have been dehydrated but can't be sure. I'll encourage you to follow up with your own doctor when you get home. Also, yesterday i finished American Sirens and am starting Cabin Fever. Roy
  8. @BklynBoy8 do you know anything about the Sheraton Manhattan? TIA.. Roy
  9. Welcome to Cruise Critic. Your question was answered about a week ago and here's a link to that thread (eventually you will get more comfortable learning some tips for searching). I think this option is only offered on the Koningsdam and Volendam which share the same itinerary: Vancouver Inside passage Tracy Arm/Juneau Skagway Glacier Bay Ketchikan Inside Passage Vancouver On these cruises some passengers disembark in Skagway and travel overland through the Yukon and Denali to Anchorage. These passengers do not get to go to Glacier Bay and I think the excursion is intended primarily to allow these passengers an opportunity for glacier viewing, but is open to all passengers. It is a fantastic tour and gives a different point of view getting close in the catamarin vs further away from a huge ship. The one downside s that you get a few hours less than Juneau so you must decide which is more important to you. Roy
  10. Looks like that's it for today. Thanks Leanne, Lou & Dave, and Carole. Roy
  11. And staying close to the town side of the harbor. Doesn't look like much to see today. Roy
  12. Satellite mapping on cruisemapper shows her a little past the Tracy Arm cutoff. On Marine Traffic you see a little blue ship marked "Passenger Vessel via satellite" close to Quantum OTS. That's Volendam. Roy
  13. Today's sunrise is from a 2016 NCL Breakaway cruise to Bermuda. On May 27 we spent the entire day in Bermuda. Roy

  15. @1ANGELCAT you gave Fluff several more days of a happy life. Condolences to you as she crossed the Rainbow Bridge in your loving arms. Roy
  16. Happy Friday. Best Shavuot to all who observe it. Wishing Penny a long and happy retirement and Eva as little stress as possible as she works on Dad's estate. Happy Heavenly Birthday Sally Ride. A salute for those with red hair, including at least occasional dailyite @Red Haired Lady. I was never good at paper airplanes and miss George Burns. Tin Lizzie really changed America. I've been to Petra Just once, way back in 2007 on the Silver Whisper. What I remember was slogging down a long hot dusty trail, and then the glory just hitting me all at once as I rounded a bend. WOW!, I'll pass on the meal. My alternative is Fruit Salad with Yogurt and Honey, and Turkey Roast with Giblet Gravy and Cranberry as served on MS Prinsendam May 26, 2015. Headed out soon to Wegmans. Thank you Rich, Eva, Debbie/Tina, Dixie, and Ann. Roy
  17. If you're using Luggage Forward to get your bags to the ship that is really the easy part. They pick them up early, leaving time for delays in shipping and giving you tracking updates along the way. You will not see your bags again until you get to your room. Roy
  18. Hopefully, there will in fact be porters in Brooklyn. I will suggest checking onboard and explaining your need and getting suggestions from them. One advantage I think you do have is that with 2 of you you'll be able to have on person stay with the forward bags while the other moves them up in line in a relay, but it will not be an easy day. Roy
  19. Welcome Home, Debbie Sounds like a great result. I hated those trousers but my brother died from a blood clot after surgery so I understand. I wish you a great sleep tonight, you've earned it. Roy
  20. I'm thinking that was from Seattle, and the program there is great. There is a similar program from a very limited number of ports with a small but reasonable cost but I think only in the US and New York is not one of them. New York will be the bigger pain. Luggage Forward cannot go through customs so you are responsible for getting the bags from the terminal through Customs/Immigration and to the terminal entrance. I have never seen self trolleys in Brooklyn and while I am told there are porters I don't remember seeing them available. I'm pretty sure porters are more plentiful in Southampton and large self service luggage trolleys (which I used) so that transfer should be a lot easier. Roy
  21. I would love to be able to do that sometime. I have been on trains with private cars attached. Is the Union Station the one in Denver? Roy
  22. And she's gone. Thanks Leanne, Lou & Dave and Carole. Roy
