  1. I was on the Carnival Conquest for 14 days in March. Could not get any news for the 14 days. They only had CNN with no news or weather. Everyone was complaining about the lack of news stations. I cannot understand why Carnival dropped all news stations-ABC, NBC, CBS and Fox News and left the non news CNN station on their TV's.
I don't understand that move either. I like to know what's going on back home. We were cruising on 9/11. If I had not had news to watch I would not have been a happy camper.
  2. Every cruise I get a flyer from the service desk about a bag that has gone missing, usually because of a missing tag or it is in the wrong stateroom. A firmly attached tag is your best defense against that.

I agree. I laminate mine, then put about a thousand staples in them. Not literally a thousand, but many. :)
  3. From what I understand the 90 day thing is for all check in portions. If your cruise is more than 90 days out, then you can't check in yet.

That must be a recent change. I filled in all my info a month or so ago. Oh well, not a biggie. I'll just edit when 90 days gets here. It's only nine more days. Thanks.

  4. Not sure, but I think you may be 1 page too far.

Just look up to the top of the page and click on "Manage", then "My Booking"

That should get you to the blue box from there you should be able to edit "check-in"

    Hope this helps

Tired that too. I got a message that "on-line check in can only be completed 90 days in. I assume that is for choosing a check in time at the port. I'm so confused. I've done this before, but it's like the correct button is hiding from me. Sheesh! Thanks for you response.
  5. I have a hole punched in my old gift card and keep it on my lanyard with my S&S card. When they used to have the Bibles in the cabins, that would be my hiding spot. I would always use an old one just in case it got demagnetized.

Okay, thanks. I was just curious since a few posts in a row mentioned using old gift cards, etc... I thought I should ask in case there is smart reason to not use current cards. Getting one demagnetized is a pretty good reason. :-)

  6. Probably a dumb question, but as a pretty recent cruiser I've been wondering why they ask this if you're not using their transportation to/from the airport?

I think it is primarily there for those who plan on using a Carnival transfer, but they also likely need this info in the event of an emergency or itinerary change. That's just a guess though.

  7. On the "My Cruise Manager" page look for the blue box "To-Do List" find "Online check-in." Click [edit] on the right. Watch the bouncing ball and "Check-in summary" appears. Look to the right for a list and click the green check mark next to "Travel Plans. Click the edit pencil for "Flying to and from cruise" and fill out the form.
Online check-in isn't listed in the "To Do" list, just pending payments, plan activities, and view cruise documents. At least that is what I am seeing.

    Thank you.:)
  9. this is not true at all. On the Dream we did customs in the showroom, never left the ship. On the Magic, we (B2B guests) met in the MDR at 10, drank our champagne, all walked to the baggage area, a customs agent was there just for us, cursory check and back on board. Hundreds of guests were still exiting the ship. We were back on board at 10:20 and guests did not start boarding until after 11. All the bars and food service are closed from 10 - 11.
Yeah, I think it varies, depending on what customs wants. I've done two B2Bs. Same as with you, it was different each cruise. One we left the ship and the other we stayed on. Luck of the draw, I guess... no way to know ahead of time.
  10. That seems like an awful lot of stuff to try and squeeze into one eight or nine hour day. I'm not saying it can't be done (I don't know), just that to me it sounds hurried and stressful. You might want to consider saving one of those excursions for the next cruise. JMHO.

  11. I sleep with a fan going at home, but oddly I've never taken one on a cruise and have never missed it. I suppose the sound of the wake is a good enough substitute for me. I've never had a problem falling asleep on a cruise either. I'm usually worn out by midnight, especially on port days.

  12. I don't know about flights the week of Spring Break, but I find that Southwest's prices are lowest around 90-120 days out. Sometimes they get that low again if there is a sale, but I've not seen them lower either before or after that time. Late, on a Tuesday night is a good time to book. I've seen prices drop significantly on that night for just a few hours. Next day they are back up again. Getting the best price requires some diligence.

  13. Very interesting. So are these factory produced paintings just copies or lithographs or prints or what?
I don't know all the details. I do know that most, or all, of the ones they do are abstract. I suppose that makes it easier. They have a template and detailed instruction regarding colors and how to mix them. I've not seen it done, just been told about it by someone that works there in a different department. They are NOT sold to Carnival as far as I know. They go to places like "Kirklands," "Tuesday Morning," etc... home décor places, in other words. I think some are sold to on line companies. I should clarify that I don't know for a fact that Carnival is selling this type thing. It's simply a guess on my part, since I've seen the same "original" paintings on more than one ship.
  14. Individuals decided what art is. If people like and it want to spend there money on it who cares. Even if they are following instructions they still have to have some talent to recreate the piece.

I agree that if people want to spend money on it who cares. That is what I was saying in the first part of my post. The only part of your response that I can't totally agree with is that it requires some talent to recreate art. The art part of making a painting comes in the original vision in the mind of the artst and in deciding what colors to use, where to place them, etc... Copying a painting does require dexterity and that the person doing it not be color blind. I can't agree that either of those involves artistic talent. I would consider it skill or maybe craftsmanship. But again, if people want to spend money on that sort of thing that is their business and doesn't bother me in the least. Ultimately, any judgment about art falls on the individual viewing it to make. Lots of things that gets labeled art these days isn't art in my opinion, but my opinion is just that, my opinion and carries neither less nor more weight than the next guy's.
