  1. People have reported doing just that for the light.
  2. In the "lobby" of the Walt Disney Theater for Golden Mickeys, they have it set up like a publicity shoot (cameras & reporter) reporting the arrivals for the show. During this time is when someone scopes out the kids arriving and picks them. Don't know the specifics on the Beauty & the Beast show.
  3. Anyone can sit in any of the seats in the WDT. Of course, you might need to arrive pretty early to get what you want. Seats are not reserved/.
  4. I answered a question over on the Disney Cruise Forum and I got a notice that I had a reply. When I clicked on the notice, I got a message that I don't have permission to see it. And the post I made is now missing from that forum.
  5. There's an Open House on embarkation day (I believe until the muster drill). They also have random Open Houses where the adults can attend with their child and I believe its' every day for an hour or so. Oceaneers is typically open 9:00am to 1:00am daily and the Open House hours can vary from day to day.
  6. There are several trip/travel insurance comparisons sites. Just google it.
  7. We've been to Alaska twice on a cruise. Both on Holland America. First cruise we picked based on the fact that I don't "do" cold well, so I knew I had to pick a cruise that would see as much as possible, since I thought it would be the only one. Back then Alaska cruise either visited Glacier Bay or Tracy Arm. HAL offered a cruise that visited both, so that's the one we chose. Second cruise (yes, second, they had me the first day in Alaska) we did a land trip/cruise combo - 21 days. Since there we've been back traveling in our RV. HAL has been doing Alaska the longest and tends to have great itineraries. Princess is good, also. HAL used to have great musical review type shows. Now, not so much. Princess does have a few such shows. Disney has Disney Broadway style shows.
  8. Generally speaking, you can find a better policy if you purchase third party (better coverage at a better price). There are several trip insurance comparison sites that many of us use. You can enter the parameters of what you want coverage for and how much, then they will show you several company's polices for you to select from. I've used insure my trip and squaremouth many times.
  9. If I recall correctly, that sort of information comes out in the final "know before you go" information, it's not in the "regular" Vantage information.
  10. That should be The BEST show I've ever seen....
  11. Absolutely. I'm one of those who have a dry cough due to medication. It's a pain in the neck, but the medication is necessary so I've learned to live with it. I do wear a mask when indoors, or in crowded areas. Mostly because I'm still nervous about being around others who think "It's just a little cough" and don't mask up.
  12. I for one prefer entertainment. I'm not really impressed with the current entertainment offerings onboard HAL. The show I've ever seen onboard any of the cruises that I've done (including the Disney ones) was one we saw on HAL. It was called Encore. Not the "Encore" that showed up later (and I think on Princess), but one that had spectacular costumes, staging and performers. Those performers also did a cabaret-style show that they put together later in the cruise. I like the Billboard Onboard venue. I'm not a fan of the BB Kings or Rolling Stone Rock Room as they both tend to be extremely loud. Also don't care for BBC Earth in Concert, since it basically just puts me to sleep, just like Lincoln Center. Step One is OK, but not up to the par of the past musical review type shows (IMO). All that said, we continue to sail HAL because their itineraries are attractive to us.
  13. We did a 28 day cruise on HAL once that had "different" menus every night. Now, specific items would repeat on another menu, but not the whole menu. And we dropped off and picked up entertainers about every 3rd or 4th port.
  14. OK, Voyage of the Vikings. I was just wondering about this. There's a 17 day Vikings cruise and an 18 day Vikings cruise and a 35 day Viking cruise (that's really the 17 & 18 day ones B2B). So, will the second leg repeat the first leg (menus, shows, etc) or will the 35 day be different all the way?
  15. This is a page from the Employee handbook. Notice the "Tipping Not Required Policy" section
  16. That's the problem in our house, my sons and husband don't like spending change, and just drop the change in a pocket when they buy stuff until they have a giant amount of it. I, on the other hand, will spend change, so I trade my bills for their coins. That means I always have a bulging wallet
  17. Well, we also have the time to do that, but not the money. Hotel prices are crazy (from what I've seen) if you try to get one near to the port, or within a decent amount of travel time.
  18. That's what we did. Our TA called back to HAL about a minute and a half after she hung up the call making the reservation and specifically asked about the Mariners OBC and they came back that our cruise didn't qualify. I don't know when the 90 days started for our cruise so I can't refute the answer.
  19. Just booked our cruise today and we did get the early booking HIA, but was told our particular cruise was not one of the "select cruises" that qualify for the Mariner Early Booking bonus.
  20. We flew from LA to Ft Lauderdale the day before our cruise. Arrived around 7-8 pm (can't recall, really). Took taxi to hotel about 3 blocks from port. Had a late dinner and to bed. Took hotel shuttle to port the next day.
  21. The only issue I had with our DCL cruise checkin for our Feb cruise was that I learned the "photo does not meet guidelines" doesn't mean you can't continue. I just clicked "save" at that point and moved on. Also the "pending" doesn't typically clear until about 3 days prior to cruise. With the photo thing, it didn't like my husband's photo, so they just took another one at the port when we checked in.
  22. Thanks, I'm in the middle of doing that. It looks like it wouldn't be better (cost-wise) to book separately.
  23. We're interested in a long cruise and it has the Early booking HIA package available. Now I see that our cruise is actually 2 cruises booked as one cruise. Both of the shorter cruises have the Early Booking HIA available. Can we book the 2 shorter cruises and, basically, double the HIA value? Since the HIA package has a $300 Shore Excursion perk (per person), would we then get $300 on both legs of our B2B?
  24. That's fine. I appreciate you trying. After talking to my husband, I think we're going to book soon. It's still available today, but the number of available rooms is quite small, from what I can see. Hope that doesn't mean it'll end within the next 2 days.
  25. 35 day voyage of the vikings July 2024. Out of Boston.
