  1. Some of our group landed early, had paid for Princess transfers and ... Princess dropped the ball. No transfer. Nobody at the airport for them. Our folks ended up taking a taxi in which cost an arm and a leg. Saturday morning I'll be standing with more than 50 folks (some senior citizens) and all their luggage and if Princess isn't there with a bus I need Plan B. Also hearing that there is a train strike? So is Heathrow Express out of the question? What's the best and cheapest way to move 50+ people and their luggage to London, considering that I can't reserve another bus with another company because I may not even need that bus if Princess does what they say they will! SIGH...
  2. The test has to be done three days before sail away. Who's done their test at 12:01 AM so that it was technically within the three day window and did anyone give you grief about it? Did you ask the internet monitor/proctor what date stamp you would get? I'm guessing that if you need the date to be June 23 and it's 12:01 AM on June 23rd that it would count and qualify. Yes? I'd like to test as soon as I can - so I know I'm good to go!
  3. On this cruise and itinerary soon so am interested in the up-to-the-minute updates on the good ship Emerald. Thank you!
  4. Thanks for the help everyone. They'll do the dial in thing... as for the phone, you can set it up, you can do this, you can do that ... nope, nope, and NO. They have no interest in that. They aren't going to use their phones as an alarm clock and they won't be using their phone as an alarm clock. Not my choice, not my decision but that's where it is. So they'll be using the wake up call service. Again, thanks.
  5. Ah but that's the thing: they want to turn their phones off and put them in the safe so as to avoid unexpected cell phone charges. Maybe a little paranoid about it and they could prolly be taught about airplane mode but they are not inclined to that ... so ... how about Princess waking them up?
  6. Someone in our group that will be traveling on Princess soon wants to know if they need to bring an alarm clock or can they do a wake-up call with the phone? I've never done that so I'm not even sure what they're talking about. Is this something you can call and "program" in yourself or do you have to talk to another human being, maybe in customer service, and they program something for you? What say ye? Can Princess be your alarm clock?
  7. Thank you again for a magnificent Trip Report! A+++++! And so helpful to those of us who are headed over for much of the same journey. Thank you!
  8. This is very very helpful. Thank you so much!!!!
  9. can you post the entire letter? what are they doing about tendering?
  10. We're doing that Churchill War Room tour - about how long were you there? How long should we allocate for that?
  11. Can you confirm that masking has been made MANDATORY? Not asking if people are doing it - just has the order changed from recommended to MANDATORY. Princess officials telling me that no ships other than the Alaska ships have mandatory masking. I thought Emerald had made it mandatory. Can you confirm? Mandatory or recommended?
  12. This thread has wandered a bit ... is there someone ON THE EMERALD RIGHT NOW - JUNE 14 - that can verify that masks are mandatory as of today, June 14?
  13. We are now holding you 100% accountable for all weather and waves from this day forward ... LOL! These are really great reviews. You are doing a great job writing this up. I think you should poll Cruise Critic and see where folks need some travel info and reviews and then book a cruise there. Everyone would read it!
  14. There is a thread on this here:
  15. This is big news for us passengers but think of the people Princess is having to deploy to test everyone, process the tests, etc and the people they are using to look after folks who are quarantined on land after a cruise. Maybe some of those people can start answering the phones and ticketing EZ Air! LOL
  16. Traveling with a group on a "British Isles cruise" and one of the folks wants to know about pre-paid Visas. Truth is, I don't know much about them here in the USA so I certainly don't know if they'd work overseas. Anybody in the UK (and Ireland and France) knowledgeable about this?
  17. This is just getting better and better (except for the snake part. WOW!).
  18. We're reading along but we need MORE FASTER! What's next?! (checks Cruise Critic for the umpteenth time today to see if updated)
  19. My wife and I are cold all the time... a big help to us on our trips to AK has been Buffs neck gaiters. Light and thin, they can be worn around our neck, pulled up over your ears and mouth or in a pinch can even be a hat. We love'em. No, I don't work for them or get paid by them. But worth checking out. You'd be surprised how much warmer you can be if you zip your coat up AND have something around your neck.
  20. Not to hijack your post but some day I want to do the Denali to Whittier thing ... was this an open air car or were just blowing A/C on you at blizzard levels?
  21. Friend of mine on hold FOR SIX HOURS AND TWENTY MINUTES. EZair for the end of the month to Europe. Reservation completely disappeared - gone. So she just held and held. Finally got someone and got ticketed. WHEW. Say this "if someone else has to call and be put on hold with Princess Air, tell them not to hang up when the music stops. The first princess lady mentioned that she was transferring me to the AIR department that there might be some silence when I was transferred. I didn't notice anything right away but about 40 minutes before the second lady answered (about 4 hours after being transferred), the music stopped and I could still hear some noise if I turned the volume up real loud. I remembered what the first lady mentioned so I stayed on the line. Glad I didn't hang up."
  22. My itinerary DOES include Glasgow so I was wondering if you could just back up and go there after all? LOL Seriously, your reports are really really good. Appreciate them so much!
  23. Seems like a day ago you were bundled up like an eskimo... now you're in short sleeves! WOW!
  24. I'll be traveling later with some friends who are ... well ... more senior. They don't want to mess with the Medallion app. Can I tell them that once they get on the ship - and our TA says she can get them Ocean Ready - they don't need to worry about any app? Put your phone in the stateroom safe and turn it off. No need for it unless you want to order yourself some food/drink, find someone on the ship, text someone etc. But for getting off the boat on port days and getting into your room - if you have the physical Medallion you don't need your phone. Is this correct?
