  1. In the US we call it price watching….and before final payment there is no loss off our deposit. I “traded” a $350 drop in OBC from my TA for a $3300 price drop on our recent Iceland cruise. It pays to watch but always check the bottom line.
  2. It is lunch, yes, usually on the last sea day when they do it. We just did a 12 night so they had one, not sure if they do it for 7 nights. There was no lobster at all on the lunch but there was one night, an evening chic night where they did serve lobster tails but you only got one. A second one was an upcharge, around $17 plus the 20% gratuitity and hardly worth it. If you want lobster invest your money in dinner in Murano one night.
  3. The draw back that I found to the dining packages is that you cannot reserve ahead of time. The one time we booked a package I went to make reservations as soon as we walked on to the ship and found the only times left were times that would not work for us so I ended up canceling the package and using the OBC for other stuff. It was disappointing. Dining hosts, guest relations were not able to do anything at all.
  4. Like having breakfast or sleeping in……
  5. We were on Beyond last January in the Caribbean and one sea day morning I went out to make a sunrise picture at 6:30 and saw 90% of the loungers pool side and above already had towels and books on them. No people just stuff
  6. When we changed the date on our Iceland/Greenland cruuise we were charged a US$ 200 fee but it was before final payment. As others have said, check your insurance, check other travel options.
  7. Desibee nailed it. If you want to do the Blue Lagoon or just go and look like we did the best time to do it is on the way from the airport. With all of the road closures from the volcanic activity it is hard to reach the BL from the city.
  8. Some of us start here and move on to a proper letter of complaint to the executive offices. Coming here first can be a good sounding board.
  9. We are on the Eclipse right now. Day 10 of a 12 nighter. No problems at all, other than the Park West/Sky Lounge thing. Food has been fine, crew is great and Captain Morkis even arranged a perfect day to sail through Prinz Christian Sund. Light breeze, lots of sunshine so he even opened the helipad for all of us. We are in a V2 on deck 7 and while it is not new and shiny like the Beyond was in January we are both thrilled with it all.
  10. The CC HH event now is just once a cruise. Yes it used to be every night but that is gone. It is also a published event so most people know it is happening. This Park West crap has been almost every day. We stopped bothering to go up there after the third day. The good news is that this is the only negative on this cruise so far. Everything else has been first class, they even opened the helipad for Prinz Christian Sund and we have had no missed ports.
  11. We are on the cruise too and when Park West is not kicking us out activities are blasting us out. It sucks but otherwise the trip has been great
  12. The best way to pack and dress for an Alaska cruise is in layers. It is likely to be getting cold by September but you never really know what mother nature will do so layers are the answer. Make sure you have a rain gear layer too. In Alaska they call rain liquid sunshine and a patch of blue in a cloudy sky is a sucker hole... Layers are your friend. The evening dress on Alaska cruises tends to be less dress, even with Evening Chic nights. If you like the way you look and feel good, go for it.
  13. We are with you on the Eclipes and I have been watching the ice situation too. As Edinburgher said, the situation has been improving the past few weeks since the winds finally shifted back into their normal pattern for the summer raising temps and pushing the ice away from the land mass. Lets hope it continues. Cruisemappers shows ships making port and also being able to cruise Prinz Christian Sund.
  14. The pre-cruise sales, the flash sales, the Captains Club discounts do not make a whole loot of sense to me. Too many moving parts that sometimes work together and sometimes don't. It is a marketing issue as much as it is an IT issue. Yesterday when I called to book a wifi package (CC discount you can't do online) and buy some OBC for an AMEX promo it took me two phone calls and well over an hour to the it all done, mostly because of IT issues. The rep told me at the end of the second call that the whole system crashed on him twice while booking my OBC.......
  15. If it makes you feel better I spent over an hour and a half on the phone with Captains Club today just to buy wifi and some OBC for our upcoming cruise because " they system keeps crashing".
  16. I agree completely. Between auto focus and digital I was able to keep working for an extra 10 years. The Nikon F is a paper weight/musem piece to remind me of way back when.
  17. Shutter failure....in the middle of an MLB photo day back in the film days. I only found out when the camera totally jammed up. I was grabbing guys left and light to re=shoot. That is what I love about digital, I can really see what I am doing, what is really happening. Another on film MLB disaster was the time we gelling backgrounds and even though the polaroid test showed a nice burgundy color the film version show up pink...client was not happy. I have a 1969 Nikon F with two lenes that sits on my book case shelf for me to remember those days. My first real for work camera was that same model and year. Some day I may get brave and take it out again, maybe.
  18. My vote goes to the Reflection. Even with an inside cabin the Beyond does not have a sky Lounge and I really like the forward looking lounge. Take the inside cabin out of the equation and it Reflection hands down. I don't like the whole IV idea, the port hole verandas on the E class ships are tiny with a limited view and the SVs are hard to find and pricey when you can find them. Been on both E Class ships are on the bottom of my liist now.
  19. In most European ports we rely on airporttaxistransfer.com. Much easier to have your own driver there and waiting for you then dealing with cruise line transfers or taxi lines. They are reasonable and reliable. It just makes life easier.
  20. I am skipping a hair cut before our upcoming trip but I won't be going for the $60 onboard trim... We are planning to book another trip while onboard. Sometimes they just make things complitcated.
  21. Thanks. I had a feeling but too much is going on right now to go looking......
  22. I was trying to buy some OBC to take advantage of the current AMEX spend $500 and get a $100 statement credit but the first time I tried I got "The limit on OBC is $125" so I could not make a $500 purchase. Now Celebrity is promoting their own gift cards so can I just get one with my AMEX card and get the promo? I must be getting old, this all getting confusing to me..... TIA.
  23. One note, the most common RX med for motion sickness is the scapalomine patch. It is NOT recommended for people over 65 because the side effects, especially the more mental ones seem to be worse. Stuff you learn when the doc says sure but the insurance company questions it and refuses to cover it. It took some questioning but that was the bottom line answer and Bonnie and the OTC things cause other conflicts here so we ended with one of the "homeopathic" ones on Amazon. It worked well.
  24. Today's update says they expect activity in the next 7-10 days. No statements on how intense it could be.
  25. If I understand it correctly the Premium Access Pass is charged per person so it is likely that each person would get one device. To be sure, call Celebrity and ask.
