We have a fave spot or two that gets the best shade from the existing roof structures on the beach. Otherwise, I'd be wanting two umbrellas as one doesn't often give enough shade (I want full shade). That's a hefty price if PCL charges the same amount. We don't stay all day either. One umbrella plus a strategic location near a roof structure could do it. Never wanted a clam shell.

I am wondering if, by the time Princess got setup for Regal voyages out of Galveston, that the intended ports were already booked up by other lines and PCL was just "hoping" they could squeeze in. Now, reality kicks in and they have to make the itinerary change. This is not the first time PCL has had to make itinerary change and delayed notification to guests, all the while still selling the original itineraries. I can only guess if a port is over-capacity that the last-booked cruise line is the one that gets tossed out. Otherwise, how is it decided which ship is denied the stop?

I presume the steps you are doing are the following: Login to App using Name, BD, Booking Number Tap on Profile icon at the bottom right. From Profile Menu, do you have "Change Password"? That screen then asks for old password and entry of a new password 2X. Wondering what error you get. The other option is from the App Splash Page (not logged in yet), have you tried "Forgot My Password"? That takes you to a screen where you enter Name, BD, Email and presumably you get an email from Princess. The next screen indicates you receive an email if the account exists. I would venture that no email received means that what you think your email address is does not agree with what Princess has and therefore making a change this way is not going to work. All this said, with others reporting similar challenge, it could be a bug. We should all be able to have same ID/Pswd combination for website and App. ID is normally one's email address. PS - I did try the last process and as of posting this note, I have not received an email and there is nothing wrong with my info AFAIK since I can login to both Apps and the Website with no issue.

Yes, you can sail without the App, but I would just go with the new App and login using Name, BD, Booking Number. Have you tried going into Profile in the App and doing a password change? Then see if you can login that way. As long as you get to your voyage, you are fine. PCL Is using new satellite service now and all reports indicate much improved internet service. Yes, buy it on board for same price and it will be discounted. The best/easiest way is to enroll via the device you intend to access the internet with. Your daily cost for full voyage is $7.50/day for single device plan. If you purchase individual random days, your cost is $10/day for single device (that one did not increase last time for whatever reason). Your cost is 50% of list. So you can do the math of full voyage day count times $7.50 versus however many individual days you might want times $10. You can use the web version of the App to setup your pre-cruise information so you are ready to board in either Green Lane or Blue Lane.

Go as you go and you will be fine. Just a note to the extent it matters - if you are departing Southampton, generally speaking, more folks do wear a suit on the formal nights than from other ports. All MDR's have the same dress recommendations. And it is only for dinner - there is no dress requirement for the ship in general on the formal or dress-to-impress nights. Also, Specialty Dining has been Smart Casual since the beginning. But some folks also dress up to go there if they feel like making it a special event. Princess has a flexible approach even though they have not updated it in writing. Just don't go to dinner in shorts and t-shirts or gym type clothing and you won't be at any risk of being turned away.

Thanks for this report. Medallions on order, but no Shoreside entry. That means App says Blue Lane, but when you have Medallions, that is Green Lane all the way.

What kind of agent was it? I am thinking - like some others above - that the agent is thinking of the new Sun Class ships where there is an additional "sanctuary" or section of Sanctuary that will be exclusive to suite guests and part of their amenities - but only on that class of ship. No other ships have separate areas for Suites or "Signature" designations.

By this I interpret that PCL is only allowing guests to provide a different CC for Shoreside purchasing up to a point prior to embarkation. They must have a cut-off date/time to send the information to the Radiqual 3rd party who will be loading it into their system. IMO, the key record locator will be the Medallion ID code in each case, plus a name match. The retailer can see who the guest is when a Medallion is tapped in the store due to the live connection with ship's database. All the retailer needs to know is if the guest has setup to do payments in this way. It's the ship that should know which CC to bill. But IDK if that part is totally correct.

Again, I don't see why the third party would be the one, nor needs to be the one, to store the CC to be used. Princess ought to be the one storing it in their System and all the 3rd party vendor needs is some sort of Medallion identifier for the guest so that when tapped in a store, the vendor 3rd party system knows that the customer/guest is authorized to make a purchase and the purchase details get transmitted to the ship system which can then bill the guest's on-board account (or provided CC). I don't know that we have definitive info that the 3rd party company actually gets readable credit card numbers, expiry dates, and CVV codes.

It is just open embarkation from whenever they open the terminal doors until about an hour before sailing. The Princess Travel Summary in the Cruise Personalizer will contain an official window for check-in. However, 99% of the time, they will be open for check-in ahead of the earliest time listed.

Has anyone yet added the Shoreside setup, then ordered Medallions, and then removed the Shoreside setup? It might take you out of Green in the App, but with Medallions ordered and to be shipped, that means Green at the port. I am curious to know if the order remains intact - I believe it will stay.

Even so, this guy ought to have been engaged in selecting airline, dates, and flights. This is one of the weirdest travel stories I have read. IMO, the guy is nuts to be so cavalier about this travel. Also, why does he call his friend about the situation if he has no care about the booking?

I would expect mass confusion when they ultimately load up the Sun MDR to DMW. It's a whole new concept supposedly for different service types, so how are they going to build that into DMW? I'd be prepared to be seeking out DR Mgmt for a while to request what you want. First voyages are coming soon, so it will be a mad scramble when it happens.

IMO, ridiculous to be asking guests for their investment account logins. Totally unnecessary as well. PCL ought to be putting a stop to it. They should need nothing more than the uploaded statement page - with appropriate blackouts.

If a guest has Medallions, go Green Lane, regardless of the stupid Shoreside setup. I previously suggested a way to order Medallions and then drop the Shoreside setup if desired. Have not seen anyone respond who did the steps proving it works, but I think it will. The check-in agents won't care about the Shoreside thing.

Tell 'em what you think of this at PCL HQ. No point in complaining on the ship as they are powerless to do anything.

Sometime last year, PCL claimed they were adding a notice to the included chat feature. AFAIK, that never happened. Perhaps they decided to scrap it instead of fixing it. Side effect might be a few more folks get MedallionNet. Supposedly, at least 75% of the ship has it due to booking one of the two fare packages. We use WhatsApp as we always have the internet package.

Perhaps that website did not have the final schedule at the time. NFL doesn't release final schedule until Week 17 is completed. I guess we'll only know if someone on a ship reports it.

Steelers-Ravens and Texans-Colts are on SAT at different times, so no conflicts there. As expected, Bills - Dolphins is Sunday night. The 1pm SUN and 4/4:30pm SUN games will be indeterminate for the ship. The other AFC South game is at 1pm.
