  1. This is what I was talking about - one DR is not available pre-cruise in the App. The two you mentioned are mid-ship and aft. Same menus and service. Different layout and decor - and location of course. The third DR will also have the same menu, but I suspect it will be the one with Reserve (formerly Club) Class dining which is a section of the DR and will have some additional menu items. The rest of that DR will have the same menu as the other two. They may be using that DR (well, most of it except Reserve Class) for walk-ups or those looking for set table every night. You will be able to walk-up and you will likely find out on board the best one for that or where they suggest you go for that option.
  2. Sure you can order a pizza and share it. That said, there are still some outstanding questions around what is PCL doing in terms of policy in practice on the ships. Scenario 1: A couple orders 1 meal under prix fixe (now a cover charge) option, plus two beers. If they are both on Standard Fare, what happens if the other person eats part of the pizza? The person ordering could take away half the pizza and then anyone could eat it (of course this defeats the idea of dining together). If they are both on Plus Fare, do they charge the second person who only ordered a beer one of their allowed visits even though they ordered nothing other than a beer? If they are both on Premier Fare, it would seem no action is required since the allowed visits are unlimited. Scenario 2: A couple orders 1 meal as prix fixe and 1 appetizer, plus two beers. If they are both on Standard Fare, what happens if the person who ordered an App also has one section of the partner's pizza? If they are on Plus, presumably the only charge is the cost of the extra appetizer. What happens if the second person has one slice of the other's pizza? Again, with Premier, it doesn't matter since visits are unlimited and the guests could just ask to charge up two full meal cover charges, but hold the Main and hold the Dessert for one person. Scenario 3: A couple orders 1 pizza and two beers. They share the pizza. Under Standard Fare, there is no issue and they are charged for each item ordered a la carte. Under Plus, the couple would have to request to be charged a la carte pricing as with Standard if they wanted to preserve their full-meal benefits. Under Premier, they can both request to be charged with a cover charge visit for no charge, but hold all the extra items. Is Princess going to require both persons to order prix fixe if one does? That would make it easier for Princess and the crew. What happens when two couples dine together? And they are on different fare packages? The possibilities are not quite endless, but documented policy is not clear at this point I believe.
  3. This is correct IMO. Platinum members should have a separate waiting area and are called to board following the Suites and Elites. I don't see why Brooklyn should be different than Florida and other departure ports. There is no actual "lounge" by the way - at least not my vision of a lounge and not like an airline lounge for FF's.
  4. Good idea, but another question Are you seeing all three DR's in DMW? Sometimes, Princess is holding back one of the DR's which indicates to me that there is space to be had once on board (although the hold back is likely mostly for walk-ups or to be able to support TD experience requests).
  5. Perhaps you should have phrased it like the OP - it's about the experience people encounter these days. The PCL clothing recommendations are generic across all ships across the World. Also, there is no evidence that PCL DR Mgmt uses different practices/interpretations in various parts of the World.
  6. I have not seen any recent posts about different sets of coupons. Only the ones some TA's add on to bookings at certain times of the year.
  7. You have resurrected a dead post from over 4 years ago. Since then the coupon books have become virtual with e-coupons that I think you would have been notified of in an email from Princess. Otherwise, they could have been collected at Guest Services (a hardcopy print-out). Or, I think you could have just claimed any of them (but I suppose you wouldn't have known what they were). Some of us think you didn't miss much by not having the coupons as they are nothing like they were pre-pandemic.
  8. Interesting opposite views for the same ship in the same general time period. BTW, the ship code is "CB", not "CP".
  9. FYI, the ship will start boarding well before 12:30pm - could be more like 11:00am. But, by the time you arrive, the initial crowd will have boarded and you should be able to breeze on whenever you get there from the train station (>12:30pm). I would think you could make it into the DR under the wire.
  10. Many folks have posted here about receiving a $10 OBC when booking Plus/Premier on the ship. PCL is being generous IMO for doing that, but it does represent the fact that Medallion was not shipped.
  11. Ahh.. free cabin is the answer here. You must be one of those who get the casino cruises. Who knows how they figure out your rate for Plus? Regardless, it could not be $600 + insurance they are charging you, so you are also at a lower rate than expected - but could be partly due to your casino situation.
  12. In theory that should work, but with Princess Ocean IT dept, you cannot trust their wonky software.
  13. Agree with post #3. Have a decent night in the hotel and take your own transport to the ship.
  14. Hmm... not sure the math on that one, but seems like $540 plus an odd amount for the insurance (not exactly 12%, presuming you have the Princess Premium and don't get the Platinum discount). Wonder what the deal is based on?
  15. Did I say I wanted to wear those items? NO. (BTW, certain Hawaiian style shirts are considered formal). This is why I prefer to no longer engage in debates on this matter because posters like you wish to denigrate others who prefer not to wear a tux or a business suit. On another day it will say "Smart Casual". That doesn't mean I cannot wear a suit. We were on a cruise once where a couple at a nearby table were formally dressed every night.
  16. https://www.princess.com/learn/faq/pre-cruise/what-to-pack-for-a-cruise/ The first link on this page is titled "Clothing Recommendations". This is the phrasing that I refer to as the "absolute": Pool or beach attire, shorts, ball caps or jeans with fraying and/or holes are not welcomed in the dining room. Shoes must be worn. I probably should have kept to my recent self-council to not engage in this topic beyond simply answering a question. I think we all know that the reality of cruising with Princess has changed in recent years and yet they still uphold the tradition so that guests are welcome to participate to the extent they desire.
  17. We might get a bit more insight if a CC Member reading this thread has a 10-night booking with Standard Fare and checks the cost of upgrading to Plus in the Personalizer. Hopefully a different ship and voyage than the OP. @Esjung1, do mind sharing your ship and departure date? Perhaps a CC Member with a 7-nighter or 14-nighter at Standard Fare could also check and see what they would be charged if looking to upgrade. I would expect any guest waiting until embarkation day will be charged $60/pp/day, less a flat $10 (Medallion shipping credit).
  18. But here's where the fallacy is. There is not a dress "code" to enforce. They are recommendations and suggestions. The only "absolute" is what is banned or not accepted. But it seems even that is not absolute these days. So, they are not enforcing the "absolute" all the time now. By your comment, it wouldn't be clear to me at Princess what you mean by enforce. Do you want them to consistently enforce the "absolute" phrase in the clothing recommendations? Do you want the entire recommendations changed to an enforced code? Everyone has their own idea about what is acceptable and what is not. These two questions represent either end of the scale and I doubt there is a black&white answer. At least you can enjoy the cruise the way you like and no one is going to get upset at your love of dressing up.
  19. To be clear, my "like" is that you are fixed, but it is sad that PCL is not addressing their system issues and seems to take no action unless a guest calls in and specifically complains about a matter. Whatever was done to fix your records is likely something could be mass-corrected (an educated guess based in years of IT experience implementing software and resolving processing issues). Questions (not for you to answer of course): Why does the login issue exist? What is the root cause? What is done to correct the matter? Is this repeatable, or is their a defined pattern to the issue? Does corrective action "stick", or does the corruption repeat in a few days?
  20. This post also confirms new insurance rate of 9% for Princess Standard insurance. The premium is 12%, but Platinum and Elite get the premium coverage at the standard rate.
  21. I just would not want to be in line behind one of those guests. Yikes. They should have added a Red Lane for folks who need everything done at the port. LOL.
  22. If you have booked with Princess insurance, they will assess a premium on the Plus/Premier package value as well. If you do not have Princess insurance, then you are just paying the package cost. BTW, the Princess Plus rate has been 8% for years and someone posted just this week that the rate is now 9% of cruise fare.
  23. Just curious about this pricing anomaly. If you choose the Premier option, does it also give you a 1 day discount? I.E. $720/pp instead of $800/pp?
  24. The meeting time with MD went away when the job changed to DRO and with the introduction of Dine My Way (DMW). You can still look up the DRO and speak with him (I do think they are still all males, but a change in that would be nice to see someday). However, each DR has a Mgr and they can also help. One challenge for your group is going to be that there won't be 3 6-tops all together in a waiter section because the DR's aren't built that way. Can they re-arrange the furniture - IDK. You could potentially get 3 6-tops in proximity in the same DR (different wait staff - at least two teams). Another thing to consider - are 18 diverse people actually all going to dine at the same time in the same place for the full voyage? IDK what you tried on the App because there is nothing in DMW that involves requests to the DRO. You can try making a res with the Web version, but I would guess that DMW is not setup to book 18 people - even if you had them all set up as Travel Companions and were adding them for dining. If you want to make a res in DMW ahead of time (and no need to do so IMO for what you want), I would appoint two other "captains" in your group. You and the other two "captains" each book 3 couples into a 6-top. One person trying to book 18 people is highly unlikely to be successful.
