  1. I could always access my banks using ship internet (no VPN) prior to Starlink and have not been on a ship with Starlink as yet. Even with 2-factor ID, I was okay as long as the verification could be done via email and not forced to be MSM to my phone.
  2. I hear you, but those with smart devices can still order using the App and have delivered to cabin.
  3. They used to regularly do a session in the theater, but IDK if they still do. There is an OCEAN help desk setup somewhere on the main decks (5-7) and you can always drop by there for some assistance and information. ETA: It would be useful if Princess had a Technical Writer prepare a video presentation and post it on their website. But that would be too logical for them to think of.
  4. Of course - just another example of non-sense from PCL. There will be 18% baked into the $5 SC. I have not seen this officially reported from or by PCL, but we can expect that. I would believe it is also baked into the $15 ON activation fee. Also, it was reported that ordering via TV was shut down back around Aug 1 and I don't think we know if that is a permanent move or whether PCL is re-tooling it somehow. It was a bad move IMO as I don't see the harm or problem. They should have been able to adjust offerings without taking it down. Perhaps you might ask the F&B Mgr or someone senior at GS why the TV ordering was removed and if it is coming back.
  5. I gather you missed the news announcements about the change to both boarding pass screen in the App and the check-in lanes. PCL changed things such that now the Green Lane is only for guests who come to check-in with Medallions and all things completed in the App. It used to be you would be Green if all things completed and just needed to pick up Medallion. This changed in August so that is why you were Green in July.
  6. You have conflated two things - time and place. There is no longer any set embarkation time. Just show up no later than indicated in your Travel Summary. Blue Lane is for check-in processing.
  7. My only reason for a VPN in play is to pretend I am in USA when we are not down in Florida.
  8. Not used VPN on phone. Not used VPN on a ship. WhatsApp works great on the ship.
  9. On older ships where they still have a Library, there is normally a cabinet of games and in the cabinet there should be some decks of cards. If not, ask anyone on CD staff and they will replace with new supply. And correct - the cards are cheap and do not last long. We usually bring some.
  10. @cruiserdf, i have read that guests have had general success using a VPN on the ship for Internet purposes. However, you should turn off the VPN when using the Princess App on board (ship Intranet is all that is needed). Most seem to report that Princess App functions do not work well, or at all, if a VPN is in play.
  11. Need a Turquoise Lane which is need to pick up Medallion, but Green in all other ways.
  12. If they open them up and replace batteries, I wonder how they remain waterproof (or at least water-resistant).
  13. Here is the Princess crew member who tries to get the guest to purchase the standalone beverage package over the cruise fare package:
  14. All right. Have it your way. So, the GS crew member at the desk has literally informed you they changed the battery and are giving you back the same Medallion? Also, stating the battery needs replacing can just be another way of saying the Medallion needs replacing. This is new info, by the way.
  15. Let's modify the benefit suggestion. Elite (and Suite) may order the Medallions at no charge. Up to guest to order for shipping or to the port as is the case now in Princess App. The other option is simply to send Elites and Suites all through the Green Lane and have that subset of Medallions at that Lane so those check-in agents do the processing and Suite and Elite get processed quickly without waiting with the mob in the Blue Lane. That said, I have read reports where US departures have most people with Medallions and this the Blue Lane is not overly long.
  16. That sounds MUCH too late. Especially in FL/PE where they have ships leaving at 3:00pm now.
  17. Were you aware when the 2024 voyages were released? If so add a year to that date. I don't recall when they released last, but often posted here in a thread topic referencing the sector and schedule.
  18. The new changes for Casual Dining did not begin until various launch dates in August. It is all implemented now.... or perhaps a carry-over of a ship or two into early Sep.
  19. Are you sure? Those things are sealed and do not open easily at all. Not meant to be changed.
  20. It is not champagne - even PCL calls it "bubbly", which is probably about all you can say. It is some kind of sparkling wine, but definitely not champagne.
  21. Unacceptable IMO - especially if sometime during those >40 minutes general boarding began. What were the agents doing who handled Green Lane guests when that line was empty? PCL is making big mistake here. At least for the period of time from doors open to some minutes after start of general boarding (until the terminal waiting area is cleared). I'd be Jonesing for a different lane (per Carmen Roig, VP Sales in July webinar).
  22. Yahbut... they'll need replacements before 63 days are up. 😁
  23. Yes, it might be nice, but most posters will not know how to do it, or will try and screw it up, or won't be bothered.
