  1. Hi;

    Our ship, the Celebrity Millenium, will be docked overnight in Singapore.

    I was planing to visit the Gardens by the Bay while the ship is staying overnight.

    I have some questions:

    1/ Is the ship docked at Marina South Pier?

    2/ Is it close to an MRT station?

    3/ how do we get from the eport to the GArdens? By bus, MRT or taxi?

    4/ If it is by taxi, how much will it cost? Will taxi be available from the port?

    Thanks

  2. Dear mking8288;

    You are so amazing. I don't have to read any travel blog or guide, I just have to ask you!!!

    Some questions regarding airport lounges ( on our way back). We will be traveling with Finneair Business class. I have heard somewhere on CC that since Finneair is part of the OneWorld alliance, we will have access to the Premium Plaza Lounge and the 4 Cathay Pacific Lounges.

    Do the lounges all have showers? In your opinion, is there one better than another?

    I think I have everything I need to plan my trip. Thank you very much for all the help.

    Now I have to start finding some informations regarding Singapore.

    Many thanks,

  3. Mking8288;

    Can I ask you question about Macau?

    1/ How to get there from Yau Ma Tei MTR?

    2/ Whcih ferry or fast boat to take and from which pier?

    3/ Buying tickets in advance?

    4/ What to see and do in Macau if we don't want to gamble? Hop On Hop Off?

    Thanks

  4. Thanks mking8288;

    It is getting very close to the cruise and I like to plan all the details. We may not have time to visit and see everything on our list but that's OK, we hope to come back to HK again soon. Before ouur daughter was born, we were in HK 3 times in 2 years so surely, we will come back.

  5. Dear mking8288;

    Thank you again for all the very helpful links and informations.

    As the same time I have you on this thread, may I ask you some questions regarding the Peak tram?

    I know it may be a tourist thing but I think we would like to go up to the Peak with the tram ( not the bus).

    1/ How to go there from Yau Ma Tei MTR? All the way with the MTR? Or MTR then Star Ferry

    2/ If all the way with MTR, which station do we get off? Then where do we go?

    3/ If with MTR and Star Ferry, which station should we get off to catch the Star Ferry? From the ferry debarkation point, where to go to catch the tram?

    4/ You mention that we can pay the Peak Tram with the Octopus card, right? Student discount? is it a single ride or round trip ticket?

    5/ Going down: maybe we can take the bus. Which bus? Where does it go?

    Thanks

  6. Thanks mking8288. I was hoping that you are on this board to get more of your precous info. Our trip is coming soon and I am planning the final details.

    I booked the Metro Winner Hotel on Nathan St and I realized that Airport Shuttle Bus A21 stops right in front of it. If we are not too tired after our long flight in ( 31 hours), I was thinking of catching it to go to the hotel.

    Now, we are flying out to Singapore on Dec 31st. Our flight is at 10:00 AM with Tigeair.

    How much time should I allow myself to get from the hotel to the airport with the A21 bus?

    Do you know how long is the ride from the hotel (476 Nathan Rd) to HKIA?

    Thanks

  7. Hi;

    We'll be visting Singapore for 2 days pre-cruise and then board the Celebrity Millenium which stays another 2 days so actually, we get 2 days in a hotel and 1 1/2 day on the ship.

    My question is a 2 part question:

    1/ Where does the ship dock in Singapore exactly? Is it close to the MRT?

    2/ Should I do the Night Safari on the day we are in the hotel or do it the night we are on the ship?

    Thanks

  8. Hi;

    We have 3 1/2 days in Hong Kong before flying to Singapore where we'll board the ship which goes from Singapore, to Thailand, Vietnam and ends in Hong Kong for 2 days again.

    We will arrive at HKG on Tuesday Dec 27th., pre-cruise.

    I have some questions concerning public transport and the Octopus card ( or the Tourist Pass).

    Octopus card:

    1/ Where can I buy it when I arrive? Right at the airport? Any MRT counter?

    2/ Is there a specific kind of Octopus card I should buy?

    3/ How much is it? Does the price include a refundable portion?

    4/ What is the difference in price between a regular Octopus card and a Tourist day Pass?

    5/ I found only the 1 day Tourist Day pass , is there a 3 days? Is it worth?

    6/ Can I get a refund on the card when we are leaving at the airport?

    I am so sorry to ask so many question. I am just one of those OCD planner :-)

    Thanks for your help.

  9. We ate at Riz Raz, a popular vegetarian buffet restaurant. I'm not even vegetarian, but I found the food to be really good. There was pasta, salads, fresh bread, etc. and you can order meat for an additional cost if you want. There are two locations (we ate outside at the Store Kannikestraede location) and last year the lunch buffet cost 79 DKK and the evening buffet was 99 DKK.

    Store Kannikestraede 19 (with a reportedly larger menu)

    Compagnistraede 20

    I also read about Spaghetteria La Perla which offers pasta and pizza for 100 DKK (not a buffet), but it was closed for their summer holiday when we were there so we didn't get to try it. Location: Landemaerket 27

    And finally, a couple of other places that I read about which offer lower-cost meals:

    The Dubliner (Amagertorv 5) Nice Irish pub. Fish & chips for 109 DKK

    Holberg No. 19 – Sandwiches and salads; tapas and quesadillas. Order at the bar. A block off the Nyhavn canal and offers lower prices than Nyhavn restaurants. (Quesadillas @ 75 DKK) Friendly, low-key vibe

    Thanks for all the great suggestions.

  10. For the coffee card - the cost depends on which one you choose. There are 3 to choose from. One covers 6 drinks under $4US (7th one is free). One covers 6 drinks under $5US and one I think covers drinks under $6US. I bought the one that allows you drinks under $5US from Café Lattetudes because the venti sized mochas that I like were all under $5.

    You buy it right at Café Lattetudes (it gets charged to your Sea Pass) and it lets you get things like mochas, espressos, specialty teas, cappuccinos - think of Starbucks type drinks. One thing to note, you can't use it to order say an espresso from the main dining room - you can only make your purchases at Café Lattetudes itself.

    How much did your card cost? The one for drinks under $5?

    Does it mean it will cost 6 x $5 = $30 then you get your 7th drink free?

  11. Hi Cruzgryphon;

    My only concern was the fact that we have to carry our passports with us for the whole 3 days we'll be visiting St-Petersburg. I have heard so many stories about pickpockets :-(

    I know people suggest some kind of money belt but it is so bulky and obvious that it just attracts more attention.

    We are touring the whole 3 days with TJ travels. We are quqite a big group booked with them, over 60 people. They said that we cna leave our stuffs in the van and the driver will watch out for it but I don't think that I can leave my passports in the van.

    What did you do with yours?

    Is there any other ports where we need to bring the original passport? Our ports are Riga, Tallin, Rostock, Klaipeda, Fredericia, helsink and Copenhagen.

    Someone mention they need they passport to get off in Riga, is that true?

    Thanks

  12. Dear Danish Viking;

    I hope that you are feeling better. Please take time to rest and take care of yourself. Thanks again for helping us to discover your beautiful Copenhagen.

    We are arriving by cruiseship at Ocenakaj on Fiday morning. The ship will stay overnight and we only have to get off on Saturday morning. We plan to taake the taxi on Saturday to go to our hotel , The Square, and then take the taxi again early Sunday morning to go to CHP.

    I have a few question concerning the public transport:

    1/ I tried to get a City pass for 24 hours and the agent told me that if my cell phone is not turn on while I am in Copenhagen, they will not accept this, even if I have the email receipt to prove that I bought it.

    Is it true?

    2/ Can I buy the City Pass at the Town Shop at Oceankaj?

    Or they only sell zone tickets?

    3/ Where is the Town Shop exactly at the port? Will there be a sign so we cna find it easily?

    4/ I the Town Shop doesn't sell the City Pass, I plan to pay for the bus with some DKK I have ( 24 DKK for one person ?) and get the pass at Osterport. Is it available here?

    5/ My daughter is 17, does she pay the adult fare on public transport?

    6/ What time should we leave the hotel by taxi to go to the airport on Sunday if our flight is to Paris at 9:50 AM. I saw that you mentioned that there is an increase in the number of tourists this summer at CPH. Is 7:00 AM enough time?

    Excuse me for asking a lot of questions, I like to plan and be prepared :-)

    Thanks

  13. Hello Danish Viking,

    Could you help with Fredericia question? We plan to rent a car and visit Egeskov Castle and Andersen Childhood Home. I see that there is also Andersen Museum but address is different from the Home. Is it in the same place? Should we visit both? Is it enough time to visit both (in port 8 to 18)? Does it make sense to visit castle first and then Andersen Home or castle last?

    Thank You

    renasd1

    Hi renasd1;

    Sorry to jump in this thread but since we don't have your email there is no way to get in touch with you.

    Come and have a look at the roll call. There is a lot going on. Kim is also trying to form groups for TJ St-Petersburg 3 days tours. And please come to the Meet & Mingle on Monday July 25th at 5:00 at the Viking Crown Lounge.

    See you on the ship.
