  1. I have cruised NCL once; I'm usually a Celebrity and Royal Caribbean cruiser. The last time I cruised NCL (and my upcoming cruise in October), I received the beverage package as part of my reservation, and had to pay the gratuities for it. When I was on board, I was amazed to learn that the package did not include coffee (unless I put liquor in it) or bottled water. Celebrity and RCCL do not charge gratuities for any free package - it's actually FREE. Plus all the specialty coffees and bottles of water you want are included. I'm pretty sure this will be my last NCL cruise.

When I booked, NCL special said FREE UBP, Great! Then noticed gratuities aren't included. I will never book with Norwegian

again. Free used to be Free.

So spoiled with Celebrity. Best package out there.

Being I paid for the tips, wait staff shouldn't expect me to tip more...;) With Celebrity, being gratuities were included in the free package, I had no problem tipping any server who waited on me and gave great service.

  2. I totally agree with you. We have completed over 20 cruises and this is our first NCL cruise...Hawaii July 23, 2016. I figured we would try NCL and possibly go on more cruises with them in the future. Now, I am so turned off...I definitely will not consider any future cruises with them.

    Same here!

Have my cruise coming up in Nov.

Didn't realize all the nickle and diming NCL does until I started reading the threads.

After my cruise, back to ***Celebrity***, Princess, Carnival, RC.

  3. On water, it's free in the buffets, bars, restaurants and taps. The price gouging is on the plastic bottles some of you are so desperate to have. Buy a reusable bottle, get one with a filter, and the problem is solved.

Nothing is free on a ship...you paid for it. ;)

If our government can't regulate the prices of water sold on a ship how can you expect them to regulate the quality of the tap water?

How often are the tanks inspected?

  4. Jis it REALLY going to be the end of the world if you have to pay for some drinks?

We Americans don't like being ripped off or taken advantage of.

We don't mind paying a little bit for water,

but the inflated price of over $5 bottle of water that NCL charges is considered Gouging in the USA.

  5. Like NCL making a change any time they feel, we can simply bombard NCL with complaints on Twitter and Facebook, all their social media sites.

Maybe they will realize how important this issue is to their fellow cruisers and listen to our needs.

Just like when they reversed bringing food to your cabin.

    Power of the voice!!!

Out of all the cruise lines I have sailed on NCL so far is the worst...I doubt very much I will cruise again with them after my Nov cruise.

  6. Well, NCL doesn't have a formal night, so there you go.

Having formal nights is not what makes or breaks my cruise it's just having it lobster on my cruise makes it a little bit more special....

Not spending extra just to have it. Not worth it! I know what real lobster tastes like. ;)

  7. As of July 15, no more beverages, including water can be carried on board in any fashion. Thanks NCL.

Can I bring bottled water or soda on board?

Effective July 1, 2016, for sailings July 15, 2016 and beyond, guests are prohibited from bringing any beverages -- including liquor, beer and non-alcoholic drinks such as water, soda and juices -- on board either as carry-on or checked luggage, with the exception of purified or distilled water in factory-sealed containers for use in conjunction with medical devices or for the reconstitution of infant formula; and fully sealed and/or corked wine bottles for personal consumption onboard that is subject to screening and a corkage fee (for guests 21 years of age or older). Open beverages of any kind must be consumed or discarded at the security check-point, on embarkation day and at any port of call.

  8. NCL offers free bottled waters to folks with casino drink cards. And specialty coffees. And energy drinks. All of which are not included in the UBP

    [ordered through the casino bar]

I'm not going to donate $$$$$$ just to get a free bottle of H2O ;)

Have to be at a certain level just to get that perk.

  9. Celebrity offers bottled water with their drink package. Best!!!!

It would make it easier for NCL passengers and luggage handlers if they didn't have to lug bottles around and just included water in the drink package.

  10. To clarify, the condo owners never prevented day visitors from visiting Sapphire Beach. It is a public beach. The dive center and restrooms closed for a period of time, but the beach was always available. The owners enjoyed the relative quiet during that time I'm sure.

Sapphire is actually one of the beaches we would recommend on a busier ship day because there is room to spread out and get away from the busier spot and still have natural shade and beach service.

    Yes this is true,

The condo owners prevented taxi drivers dropping off/and picking up at the taxi stand near the gift shop. Only loungers were available to the condo guests. Outsiders weren't allowed to use,

Years ago, It was a pleasure going. Taxi dropped you right at the shop and arranged a time for pickup.

Wondering if they can do this now?

Or do you need to walk from the road because of the guard?

Can you rent loungers now as well?

  11. We were at Sapphire Beach last week- you can get beach loungers for $5 each and they'll place them for you. And there is some shade as well. To echo what others have posted, I would only go here if yours is the only ship in port. Ours was, so there was room for everyone. This is a small beach and not very developed- there is a snorkeling/dive shop with drinks, but for food, there was only a small area under a tent that had a grill- had sandwiches and such. But the jerk chicken sandwich was good.

We enjoyed our day there- decided to try this beach because we've been to Megan's Bay several times. The cab from the port to Sapphire Beach was $10/pp.

This is good to know...Few years back the condo owners forbidden outsiders to use the beach.

Before that I always went to Sapphire Beach. All time favorite.

  12. We will be in Martinique in Nov

Read taxi fares are extremely expensive.

I can't see spending $$$$ just to get to a beach.

So we're considering going to Anse Mitan

since the water ferry is only $7(USD) for a one way ticket.

    Bargain in my eyes. :o

Wondering has any one been to Anse Mitan?

Can you walk to the beach or do you need to take a taxi there?

Are there beach chairs and umbrellas to rent?

Are there restrooms, food and beverage facilities near by?

    Snorkeling?

  13. Anse Chastenet rents chairs and palapas. Keep in mind, a solid 90 minute drive one way, and will cost approx $100us one way, maybe more as many drivers charge a surcharge for taking the AC road.

Choc doesn't have a chair rental set up, The Wharf, a restaurant/bar on the beach there has a few chairs available for patrons, good food and drink. Not the most scenic beach, and a bit muddy as Choc river dumps out right nearby. No watersports,, etc.

Labrolette is where Windjammer Landings is located, you can contact them about renting chairs and using their facilities for the day, otherwise - no, no chair or umbrella vendors or beaxh services. No chairs or umbrellas at Vigie but tons of natural shade and local food and rum shacks near the airport entrance...

    Hope that helps. Enjoy your...

    Thank you for your reply.

    Very informative.

  14. Just because she climbed up by herself, doesnt mean there was no crime. Someone could have pushed or thrown something at her. Not saying there was a crime, just saying her climbing up herself doesn't stop there from being a crime.

    .

If you are pushed, wouldn't you tumble onto a deck or two below? Hitting head/body part along the way? It would take some force to be pushed outwards.

  15. The only non-free shows on BA involve food - the Cirque Dreams dinner theater and the Wine Lovers lunch.

*All* main theater shows, every evening - including the Broadway shows Rock of Ages and Burn the Floor - are included with no extra charge.

    Thanks for clarifying.

For a moment, I thought they were really nickel and diming cruisers...beginning to charge to see a show.;)
