  1. As long as you only are looking for medical coverage GeoBlue is a good option. We have an annual plan for International travel. Trip delay etc etc we purchase an additional policy with the TripInsuranceStore.
  2. Call Steve (CC contributor often here) or one of his associates at The TripInsuranceStore...888 407-3854...amazing personal service based on what you need. Have been using him for years and so have many others here on CC.
  3. We've always docked close to town on RCI in Juneau, Ketchikan & Skagway...has that changed? Sitka I know a shuttle is used.
  4. We were just there in March and April and the open air taxi is $4.00pp one way. Very easy !!! Yes...the straw market is there but not as many vendors as there used to be. IF there's a ship docked at Havensight we also enjoy the shops there. Unfortunately RCI only docks at Crown Bay now....long time contract.
  5. If these port stops are part of the itinerary the ships will make the decision to skip them or not. Regardless, taking responsibility for ones safety is something everyone should do when in ports.
  6. Yes....Just walking around these ports will be fine. We actually opt to do this often.
  7. Personally our laptop worked very easily the last few times we've had to do the eMed tests.
  8. Sorry...for some reason (my bad) I thought you were sailing with a young child.
  9. Was just on Jewel (July 26th-Aug 7th) out of Amsterdam for 12 nights. The only complaint we had about our OS was the smell of sewage on/off and needing better (brighter) lighting in the bathroom. The ship as a whole was well maintained/clean and the crew was great.
  10. I believe we paid $14.00 pp for our round trip from pier to Sunset Bar this past March.
  11. Getting a large taxi van just outside the luggage area at SJU couldn't be easier. Their lined up and waiting regardless of arrival times. Pricing is by zones and posted. Very regulated so no worries about getting ripped off. We've done this many times from SJU to our hotel and from hotel to cruise port.
  12. I would base on where to stay on the flight time arrival into MCO. We had an arrival about 4:00pm and opted to head to Home2Suites in Port Canaveral for our pre-cruise stay. We used Cruise Control for our transportation....MCO to our hotel and from the port back to MCO day of cruise end.
  13. OP...your cabin will have a pullman bed and it will fold down from the ceiling. Whether your 3 year old will be able to sleep up there is dependent on them. But keep in mind one of the adults may have to.
  14. Thanks...I was hoping for some answers to my questions. We usually have our iPhones on airplane mode and don't check them...especially when landing at YVR and heading directly to the ship for same day sail out. Feeling a bit stressed about this random testing even though we will be doing the eMed proctored test at home (California) the day before we fly to YVR. Not really concerned any of us will test positive....or we won't be flying to board a cruiseship.
  15. Hmmm...You might want to do some checking on this "Motel". Best of luck.
  16. No...we're on Serenade out of San Pedro for the Panama Canal Oct 2nd. Yes...I believe we were on Navigator with you in January. Hope you're doing well.
  17. Yes...agree...we were just on Jewel too. Ours on Navigator, Harmony and Explorer peeled badly also.
  18. Agree...the older class of ship the GS & OS are going to be near the Centrum and below public places...no way to get around that design. But we also enjoy the itineraries the smaller ships provide. Usually they aren't booze cruises, at least the many we've been on.
  19. We were just on RCI Jewel in OS #1058 (12 nights) and had absolutely no noise at all coming from the Centrum. Hoping for the same in September on Serenade #GS 1052 and then October OS #1058.
  20. We just had OS #1058 for our Jewel Amsterdam cruise a week ago. We had NO noise from above at all !
  21. Just back from RCI Jewel out of Amsterdam and once onboard USD was the preferred gratuity...we asked our cabin steward.
  22. Easy to walk to the HOHO ticket booth right by where your ship docks and buy your ticket. Pricing we found wasn't worth the difference just in case we changed our mind or the weather was bad. Do what works out best for you.
  23. And just what happens if you don't get (see) the email and proceed to board the ship when arriving day of cruise ?? Has this happened to anyone ?? How can you possibly wait 24-48 hours if you're boarding the ship..what happens then ??
  24. What difference does the number of lines you need (have) to stand in...You just do what is required to fly in/out of Schiphol.
  25. Was in Las Vegas (July) a week before flying to Amsterdam for 3 pre-cruise days before boarding Jewel...I too was worried about testing which we did a home test before our flight...negative... then tested at our Amsterdam hotel also negative...what a relief that was.
