  2. a few years ago i did a bermuda cruise in december out of NYC. The first and last sea days is cold and bermuda is warm
  3. i like when people post the contents of the article. there is way tooo many news sites that has a paywall or some other restrictions that make reading the article difficult
  4. i am booked on the breakaway to bar harbor next year. i wonder what is going to happen to me once the port limits ships
  5. not new. only unique to the excel class ships. not on other ships
  6. NCL ferry is further down the road from the public ferry. here is map:
  7. every ship, every port and every situation is different. if you need to do this go to guest services right away. do be aware that if they approve your early disembarkation you will be on your own for flights, hotel
  8. Choir of man has multiple multiple casts doing shows on other ships, on the west end, down under and else where. The cast that is on the ship will remain on the ship until their contract is over and then a new choir of man cast will join the ship
  9. Only on the Oasis/Quantum class ships and newer ships. Older ships do not need reservations.
  10. bottle of water needs to be picked up at a bar. it is possible to use the bottle in the mini bar area but that can cause headaches and issues with billing it correctly as the free bottle
  11. if cancel before the cruise, it is returned to the payment method if canceled onboard the ship, it is applied as refundable onboard credit
  12. The official amber cove cruise port website is https://ambercove.com/ and they have an up to date calendar on which ships dock at the amber cove port. There is no NCL ships docking in amber cove until January 2024
  13. Norwegian docks a few miles down the road at a port called Taino Bay. They are a few rare times when Norwegian docks at Amber Cove, this has happen last year when the Escape ran aground at Taino bay All of the unofficial cruise timetables website you see on google make it very confusing because both Taino Bay and Amber Cove is combined into one port that is commonly called just Amber Cove or also commonly called Puerto Plata
  14. big ships like the joy use pier 88, smaller ships like the gem sometimes use pier 90. overall its still the same cruise terminal: Manhattan cruise terminal . pier 88 is the common pier that is now used for all ships
  15. no. you go the mdr that is assigned to you. it is on the sail n sign card your time dinning and the seaday brunch is the Canal Grande
  16. 1) Complimentary food: Main Dinning Room (Marco Polo,Canal Grande), La Strada Grill, Tomodor, Guys Burger Joint, Lido Marketplace(Buffet), Pizzeria Del Capitano . In the afternoon the seafood shack has free Chinese food 2) If you go the buffet at peak times, they will be long lines. they are 4 sides of the buffet. I noticed the aft part of the buffet has the least amount of lines. The biggest issue is just the layout of the buffet as it is one line for everything from salads to soups to entrees. This is what the make line slow. 3) Shows is Color my Word, Vintage Pop, Epic Rock, Broadway Beats and Family Feud. Depending on the length of the cruise, they may not do all of the shows 4) Menu and Fun Times can be found digitally by using the HUB app
  17. its incorrect information that been on the ncl website for many many years. the 2 hours is only for the embarkation day. does not apply to port days. for port days you need to back onboard at least 30 minutes prior to departure time . the time will be posted in the freestyle daily and signs in the gangway area
  18. The carnival rep gave you false information because the carnival website says this: Faster to the Fun is not offered on Carnival Journeys departures, cruises in Europe nor on cruises from Honolulu, Norfolk and San Francisco. Ships that sail from Norfolk is Magic and soon to be the Sunshine Ships that sail from San Francisco is the Miracle They are lots of ports doing Journey cruises to and other ships doing cruises in Europe Since the faster to fun program came out it was common for it to be not available on any new ship until at least 6 months or so, sometimes earlier or sometimes later. the Venezia is still considering a new ship with the first sail date being May 2023. Expect faster for the fun to be available for this later this fall
  19. not available for new ships until after 6-9 months. new york does have fttf also not available on the journey cruises
  20. new york is my homeport. the only thing i dont like is the way how carnival set up the terminal with the document check right at the front of the terminal. it causes alot of crowding which forces you stand outside of the terminal in a sometimes long line that can go down to the other pier. Other cruises lines that sail out of the same terminal does a better job with this i like the new seating options the venezia has above the ldio deck area and the cover pool is great for rainy/cold weather
  21. Testing and other covid things was removed last year
  22. all islands always have people selling some kind of tour once you get off the ship
  23. i have been on cruises in the past when the app menu was incorrect and the paper menu was correct for that day. the app menu was completely wrong and the paper menu was the same one they have posted on the wall outside of the dinning room i also had issues with scanning qr code on my phone where the page never loads at all time or i get some odd error message like invalid url or some other strange error message
  24. for me i like to have at least 2 hours between the two excursions because excursion can sometimes run a slightly longer then the estimate time
