  1. We just came off the Legend (right before your Greenland cruise) and our late dining was at 7:45. I actually preferred it to the old 8:15 because there was actually time to get to the after-dinner shows.
  2. That might be an option, especially since we are driving to port rather than flying. I had thought about it but didn't know if it was allowed or practical to schlep 🙂 I'm considering it now!
  3. So with cabanas sold out for my August 6 cruise, I'm debating what to do. We are a family of 6 and have had one on each of our trips to HMC... but I missed out this time and at $699 will probably not bite even if one becomes available. I'm going to buy masks and snorkels for the kids at Target, and maybe bring an inflatable raft or two (or splurge the $20/ea to rent them). Just worried about finding some shade (I know the clamshells are an option but I hear they oversell them, hard to find one, etc.)
  4. To this I will say that they don't count the people actually using the facility. (Yet.)
  5. I'm also a little annoyed that there was no warning. With the price increases for onboard wifi and/or Cheers program, there were months of warning to book before prices go up. This only got on my radar because I saw it on Twitter.
  6. How late was the Lido pool open? I know Legend doesn't have the "dive in movies" because they don't have the big screen, but I'm wondering if the pool is kept open late (my kids love night swimming after late dinner). Sailing in August.
  7. I'm really struggling. We have been to HMC many times and always gotten a cabana, never for more than $299 (this was all pre-COVID). Going on the Legend in August and hubby has been telling me to book the cabana already but I was balking at the $499 price. Now today I looked and see not only is it now $699, but it's sold out for my cruise. Don't know whether to laugh or cry.
  8. Following along! We have our first trip on the LEGEND this summer, but I've been on the Pride many times. I'm very interested to know how late the Lido pool is open most nights - I know they don't have the Dive In Movies, but I'm hoping the pool at least stays open late, because swimming after late dinner is always a highlight for my kids. Can you check it out for me?
  9. I was on the Horizon in August, could still check account on the in-room TV. As for me, I dislike using my phone on the cruise. I have a good digital camera and carry that for pics. My teens use their phones for photos, video, etc. so were more likely to carry them around all day (I did NOT buy the internet package). We mostly functioned without them. The first Seaday brunch I got quite a shock when told I needed to have reserved the table on my phone, but the hostess was still extremely polite, took my sign and sail, and advised me to have a seat and wait. We always asked for menus in the dining room and they were willing to provide, though generally they only gave us one or two for our party of six.
  10. I was able to get the next day's Fun Times at the front desk before midnight most days.
  11. Thanks. My husband is kind of disappointed about the lack of movie screen (He likes to fall asleep in front of the movie after dinner 😄 ) but my kids will be really disappointed if the pool isn't open late. I love cruising out of Baltimore and this one was such a good sale (next August) but I'm wondering if we will regret it.
  12. I know the Legend doesn't have them but does anyone know if they keep the pool open late anyway?
  13. ON my 8/6 Horizon cruise, they would show an early movie (maybe around 6 or 7?) and a late movie at 10pm. There were two or three deck parties on the 8-night cruise, so on those nights there was no 10pm movie. However, one night there was a midnight movie. Pool stayed open until 11:40 PM or so every night, whether movie or no. My only disappointment was that the movies were repeated two (or three!) times, rather than a new movie every night.
  14. I know the Legend doesn't show the "Dive in Movies," but is the pool open until midnight anyway? We always do late dining and the kids like to go for a swim after supper. We've sailed the Pride out of Baltimore many times, going for the Legend out of Baltimore next summer. Thanks!
  15. Yes and they are a much softer and lighter material now (at least they were on my Horizon cruise last week).
  16. When did you get the ZOOM link? I am starting to do it and I am getting the emails with the separate confirmation code for each family member, but no Zoom link 😞 ACH never mind. **facepalm** Jumped the gun as usual. For those like me who are getting flustered -- the Zoom link was sent with the original appointment email (NOT with the health registration confirmation). When I click on it, it confirms my test is scheduled for the correct date. Carry on... Just a few more days until I'm on board...
  17. Thank you so much. I will restart and make sure I get the codes! Appreciate the quick answer. Happy cruising!
  18. This is what I came here to find out. When I filled out my own info it seemed to just end the session. I don't think I got a code. What was your process? Did you do each one separately using the same link? I didn't want to do this because I was worried #2 would overwrite #1. I am going to have to sort it out this weekend (cruise 8/6) but if you remember your exact process I'd love the info! We have two appointments as we are 6 people. Thanks.
  19. Following up my own post. After waiting three hours for a chat representative (luckily had it running in the background while I did other things), I finally got someone to help. They sent me a link to Calendly -- but it wasn't tied to my order and didn't have a place to put in my order # or the # of appointments (I paid for 6). Then they disconnected the chat before answering my follow up question about how to put that information in. The good news is that somehow, a million clicks later, I managed to find the right link which is https://onpoint-testing.com/book-your-virtual-appointment/ if you are first signed into their site, this will (should) take you directly to your order # and allow you to put in all the pertinent info. I understand the company is likely overwhelmed but I really hope the testing department is more organized than the customer service department
  20. Hi. I'm hoping someone has a link or clear instructions, so I can get this figured out. I paid for COVID testing with OnPoint for our family of 6 on Sunday. It said I would get an email with a calendar to schedule the appointments but I never got it. I have tried calling and tried their live chat several times but the wait times are inevitably several hours and I get called away or disconnected. All I need is to figure out where on their website I can pick a testing date. I can view my order but there's no calendar link. Thank you to anyone who can help (on hold with them once again as I type this).
  21. I can't speak specifically to the Splendor but I have cruised several times (on Carnival Pride, Dream) with a gluten free family member. The main dining room is very accommodating. Speak to the maitre d on the first night and let him know. Each night, they will send someone around with the following night's menu (and breakfast/brunch menu as well) so you can choose in advance. I have found they are able to make almost anything GF if they know in advance. My son has had the spring rolls, soups, pasta dishes, pancakes, and even almost every dessert. We have always done a set dining time, but if you are doing "my time" dining, I'm sure they have a method to tie it to your reservation.
  22. I'm piggybacking on this question. We are a party of 6 flying into Miami and going to a hotel in the Brickell area. We are staying a few days pre-cruise and a few days post-cruise. We will also need transportation from the hotel to the cruise port (and of course reverse for the trip home). Trying to figure out our best option for transportation. I rarely take cabs or Uber in everyday life (live in NYC) so I'm not super familiar, but want to make sure I don't get screwed with per-passenger surcharges or anything else. Thanks!
  23. Ok. I had originally planned to do my testing at Walgreens down the block from my hotel, two days before my 8/6 Miami cruise. I've now confirmed that Aetna will not cover testing for travel/recreation, so I'm probably going to do the OnPoint testing. Since there are 6 of us, OnPoint will cost $90 rather than the $800+ for Walgreens. I have lots of test kits on hand because my kids' schools were giving them out like candy... However, still want to ask if anyone has gotten reimbursement from Aetna (US) for travel-related testing in recent months.
  24. When I look at OnPoint's site, it says the rapid antigen tests are $69 and rapid PCR $129. Am I looking at the wrong thing? EDITED TO ADD - whoops - never mind. Found it. 🙂
