  1. I may be wrong, but I suspect the menu is from a US based cruise...
  2. ... no shortage of steak and lobster though I guess? 🙂
  3. I've spent far too much time living in the USA (Texas) over the years to even attempt to get this distinction across when over there and I'm not even sure it is 'contempt' so much as a genuine lack of awareness Personally I am not impacted but due to my daughters preferences my awareness is elevated, and in this case, if it wasn't an Italian cruise line who really should know better, I wouldn't have mentioned it. Parmesan is just one of the most obvious ones to focus on in Italian cuisine, and of course pesto is close behind since it is typically made using Parmesan... Easy mistake to make but as the years go by since Raymond Blanc had to apologise for being unaware, it becomes less and less acceptable. Anyway, a debate for another thread I guess...
  4. We have had that experience as well, your waiter wasn't called Walter by any chance? When we were on Silhouette right after cruising restarted we had multiple Murano bookings and Walter offered to prepare something different so we let him surprise us with his own choice of an amazing Steak Diane, old school for sure but really very good indeed.
  5. No, it is impossible to get vegetarian Parmesan as it is a DOC controlled product and has to be made using animal rennet. That may be different on a USA based cruise though as I know that DOC controls are not effective there, if it isn't actually Parmesan then it may be fine as there are alternative vegetarian Italian hard cheeses that can be used to replace Parmesan. It doesn't directly affect us , but our daughter is vegetarian so we have become more aware of the potential pitfalls, especially in Italian restaurants.
  6. May have to have a word with them about the 'V' against the 'Rich Mac and Cheese' ... If it is vegetarian it can't be Parmesan cheese they are using, and if they are using Parmesan cheese then it can't be vegetarian...
  7. As long as you got into the suite by booking it directly, rather than booking something else and then winning a 'Move-Up' bid, or via a Casino comp. etc. then it is a trivial thing to get fixed by the Retreat once onboard, if indeed it is actually wrong on your Seapass card, which it may not be...
  8. Yes, I know what it is supposed to be, but it made zero difference, we reminded our cabin attendant that we has selected 'Go Green' and they said they wanted to make sure everything was perfect anyway so still got vacuumed etc. regardless...
  9. Our experience of 'Go Green', on both Silhouette and Eclipse, was that we couldn't stop the Cabin Attendant from still doing everything as normal. I suspect they worry that they may miss out of tips if the service level is reduced.
  10. An interesting find, unclear if that is still the case, but even so it isn't going to factor in what status the the OP will have after the cruise, but might give them a small boost based on their current status.
  11. Obviously as these changes only impact bookings for future cruises made from 4th October onwards, so there is time to book under the old rules up until then...
  12. Lines like MSC that did that, had to unbundle them when moving to the US market, it causes them problems with price comparison websites, and it is something that US customers seem to expect...
  13. That should be S Class obviously, as Tuscan is one of the MDR on E Class 🙂
  14. It is bigger, just not usefully bigger thanks to Kelly Hoppen and her designs. In-suite dining is almost impossible as there is nowhere to sit and eat for 2 people even on the balcony. Certainly agree the Retreat sun-deck is better on E-class, but even though there is no bar, we found the drinks service more than adequate there and it makes a good location for a casual light lunch up there even though the menu is a little limited.
  15. Starting with this one, no, that isn't a factor as Celebrity out-source the bidding process to a 3rd party with the sole objective being to maximise revenue from the chain of upgrades. So for example if you bid for the SS but nobody bids for your C3, someone with a lower bid than you could win it if they are moving from a cabin that others have bid for... The total revenue gained from the whole chain of upgrade bids is what counts... It looks like the only thing you are really going to get is Luminae and the Retreat. If you were on anything other than an M class ship I'd say it wasn't worth it, but on Millennium the speciality dining really isn't all that special, Tuscan has a poor location on the ship when compared to the E Class location as it lacks the view, and since Millennium has been 'revolutionized' you get the Retreat sun-deck as well as the Retreat lounge. I know the changes in Butler service have been debated and may have taken the edge off that aspect, but I'd still be tempted to bid given that the rest of the suite facilities make a bigger difference than they would on the larger ships... If there are actually any SS currently still for sale it is also worth checking the cost for a simple upgrade instead of bidding...
  16. That matches with the list of amenities changing back in December I think, Aqua lost the canapés, and Concierge lost the expanded room service breakfast options but kept the canapés, right before they added the room service delivery charges.
  17. There will necessarily be a lack of precision on exactly which tombs you will see as it is not possible to predict this in advance as the tombs are rotated to reduce the damage caused by too many visitors. I have not done this excursion with MSC, but we did a Nile cruise a while ago and the general format is you will be issued with a ticket on arrival which gives you access to say 3 tombs from the ones that are open that day, so pick wisely. There is usually a premium option as well which can be purchased on site for access to one of the less frequently opened tombs. Do think carefully about choosing Tutankhamun's tomb as it is well known of course, but by far the least spectacular and if you are doing a museum visit you will have seen all the artefacts there, these are tombs you will be seeing not what was in them. Cameras have to be checked in at the entrance unless you want to pay a fee to be able to take photos there. (no flash of course).
  18. We may be talking at cross-purposes... The choices you have available on your breakfast room service menu will include items that do not appear on the menu for lower grade cabins. They may or may not be available without paying the service fee, but those below the Aqua level will not even get the option... ... or at least that is what they are still showing as an amenity of the Aqua class cabins....
  19. So even if you paid the service charge there were no hot items you could order? That seems strange as the other lower cabins could order hot breakfast items if they paid the service fee... ?
  20. I guess we have to wait until October 4th to see what happens to the prices... We can probably guess, but will give them the benefit of the doubt until proven otherwise...
  21. Yes, you have to pay the delivery charge, but you have a wider choice if you do. Concierge just has the same room service breakfast options as all the other grades below them.
  22. Hard to rely on anything as 'normal' now, but this sort of issue used to happen to us almost every time, and then get corrected when the AI stuff got unbundled.
  23. Not really, Aqua kept the expanded breakfast menu and everything else, Concierge lost the expanded breakfast menu but kept the 'delectable delights'.
  24. The canapés dissapeared from Aqua at the start of this year, they remain a feature for Concierge cabins though. ... but based on recent reports, asking for something like a cheese plate instead has received some push-back, canapés or nothing now it seems...
