  1. That's a darn shame, and my mistake to own. I didn't check the itinerary carefully, and assumed that Princess was aware of the tide charts when crafting their itineraries. While my friend may not even know what she is missing out on, I am very familiar with these waters. My grandparents sailed them every summer on their boat while we tagged along, having the good fortune to grow up in the PNW. And then use the BC ferries system to camp all through the Sunshine Islands as adults. It just really makes me mad that Princess didn't forsee this when crafting the intinerary because these tide charts in this area are known 2 years in advance.
  2. When I get tired of the MDR menus I just head up to the buffet. The sheer amount of options up there is amazing.
  3. Princess is specifically advertising this cruise on Majestic as an Inside Passage cruise. Which surprised me too. But apparently they thought they could do it. https://www.princess.com/cruise-search/details/?voyageCode=8312
  4. Received an email from Princess about our cruise. ITINERARY CHANGE Please be advised that due to tidal constraints, Majestic Princess will now depart Vancouver at 10:45 PM on Friday, May 5, 2023. This is super disappointing as I'm bringing a first time cruiser whose only wish was to do an Alaskan cruise. Now we're going to miss sailaway, going under the bridge, and viewing the Inside passage heading north. I know Princess can't control tidal issues, but don't they have a department who watches for these things and sets the itineraries accordingly?
  5. Agree. Rhodes are delicious for this.
  6. Hi all, I've been on so many Princess ships I sometimes forget which ship I'm on. But this time I'll be on the Majestic Princess and taking a first time cruiser with me. Help me remember what are some of the must dos for first time cruisers, and particularly this ship. The Hollywood Conservatory especially through Alaska intrigues me.
  7. They're actually both bland. But I take that with a grain of salt lol.
  8. Yes and no. Not on the Lido, but in the buffet on the Lido Deck. But weirdly, when we were just on over New Year's the omelette station moved around. So you have to hunt for it. They give you a slip of paper with your order, and you take it to your table where a server will come around and pick it up and bring your omelette to you. It's not instantly made in front of you. You place an order with your chosen ingredients. I did it once, and decided fried or scrambled eggs were just easier.
  9. I believe all the lifeboats have upper seating. There's a small metal ladder to climb to get up there from the inside. I've sat up there many times when tendering was necessary and have never felt unsafe. The seating is hard molded fiberglass just like the rest of the craft. And the views are fantastic.
  10. You'll never go hungry for fruit. Just order it from the app. It will always find you.
  11. Thank you all for the good info. Good to know about potential noise issues by the art gallery. Is it just noisy during the day? I'd be fine with that.
  12. Mmmhmmmm... I'm pretty sure they would print your pictures. And I'm pretty sure you know they would as well. Printing 5 photos isn't going to break them. But go ahead and rattle your keyboard if it makes you feel better. If you hadn't noticed, the sympathy ship has sailed off into the sunset here.
  13. They've eliminated that requirement.
  14. This is an excellent suggestion. I'd love to know why you've chosen to ignore this suggestion as if it were never made.
  15. Thank you for the feedback. I think one of these cabins will be great for her. And she definitely can't get lost!
  16. I've used both my Fire and Paperwhite successfully to connect to the Wi-fi. My opinion is it's not the device who fails it's the user.
  17. Hi all, Normally I prefer my cabins on the Lido deck, but this time around I'm bringing my sis who has motion issues. We're looking at the Caribbean Princess and I'm thinking lower midship the better for her. I like the idea of being able to just roll out to the Atrium on Plaza Deck 5, but am wondering if the first few rooms get noise bleed from the Atrium? So I'm considering P236 or P237 to stay as midship as possible but put at least one cabin as a buffer. Does anyone know how much Atrium noise these cabins get?
  18. They would have still charged my roommate a single supplement because my fare would have been refunded under their protocols. I told them to keep me on the booking and no-showed to avoid that.
  19. Most of the big car rentals are located at SeaTac. If you're just looking for transportation to YVR check out Quick Coach shuttle service. They pick up at Pier 66 and drop off at YVR. You'll need enough mobility to exit bus at Border crossing and clear customs. https://quickcoach.com/
  20. I highly doubt NCL axed it because of its theme.. NCL told politicians to pound sand once before, I doubt they canceled their show for any political reasons. This is purely finance driven.. they need to increase revenue and cut costs across the board to recoup the losses of the last 2 years.
  21. Pretty soon the evening theater shows will be a talent competition among the room stewards for a day of shore leave or a chance to use the passenger areas after hours.
  22. I made sure to tell them to NOT cancel my reservation. But as long as they haven't done so they likely won't do it retroactively. Also it took about 3 months before I got the refund.
  23. That is correct. Because Princess would be canceling the 2nd passenger and creating a solo passenger. Princess would be able to collect that fare twice. It makes no sense, but that is exactly how Princess operates. Which is exactly why when I got Covid and couldn't make a cruise with a friend I no-showed. I called and they explained that is exactly what would have happened. I got my port taxes and fees refunded and ate the cruise fare.
  24. Port taxes and fees, any prepaid items such as gratuities, bev package, and shore-ex will be refunded. The only loss is the cruise fare itself. And you're correct it's better to no-show or the 1st person in the cabin will be charged double (solo supplement) even if the 2nd passenger is in the 100% penalty period.
