  1. Hello, question how long did it take you to walk to Penn from the port? If taxi situation is this bad we may walk if rather is nice the first week in Sept. Have walked from Time Square many times but with less luggage. One large bag and two carry on bags plus my backpack for my Inogen machine. Thanks
  2. Still so quiet well just 24 more days. Everything is booked or bought just waiting to drop the clothes into the one checked bag add the cpap to hubby's carry on and packing complete. Still have 10 days to go before we can select a check in time and print our docs. But that's it for items needed as far as docs are concerned. Passports, vax cards (no longer needed but in passport pack), prescription lists from pharmacy, all bundles together to go into my purse morning of the 30th. We leave for Boston at 5:00AM to catch train to NYC. Well have a good week everybody, Laura
  3. What about if you only want the deli? Was thinking if we don't have breakfast we would grab a sandwich at the deli. Is there a separate area with in the buffet for deli only? Thanks
  4. This is all new to us. Only waited once in 20+ cruises on NCL, the doors were closed and we waited near by because it was close to the time we could enter. We will check the large suitcase with all our clothes but we will both have a carry on with the recommended fan, soda, wine (special type for sail away) and our machines, which we never put in checked bags. So reading this I see it is suggested we find a seat and of course if it is at a food venue we wouldn't wait there after we are done. However we can sit in other areas (hopefully in the shade) for what could be a long wait. Our check out time in 11:00AM and the walk is 5-10 minutes from port. Will take check in between 11:30-12:30 if available, though if we find something to do will leave luggage at hotel and look at later times. If I am reading this post correctly this should work.
  5. Love your review, thank you. We sail in 27 days but have been reading more positive reviews. Only one question, did you notice pot smell on your balcony? I don't care if they break the law on the upper outside deck or smoking areas. I do care about smoking of any kind on the balconies, not only the stench but for safety reasons. I love my balcony in the morning and we sit out at night. Thanks glad you had a good cruise.
  6. I have been on FB page as well CC has been very quiet. We are planning to enjoy our cruise. Your from NY do you know how far the old Roosevelt Hotel is from West 48th. near the port? We are staying at Holiday Inn Express the day prior and plan to walk to the Intrepid as well as look for Gotham West Market that day for lunch/dinner. Unsure about walking in the area after seeing the news. Just 27 more day until we are on the ship, a little excited for this new adventure. Take care, stay safe, Laura
  7. We never drive in NYC always take the train then a taxi to the cruise port if Manhattan or a hotel in the 48th. Street area if going a day or two early. We have found this area easy to get wherever we want to go.
  8. Good morning folks down to 33 more days. Took John H.s advice and grabbed a fan for the cabin. Thinking of getting a second small lightweight one as this runs on the USB, batteries, or plug. Not sure it runs best when plugged in but with just two outlets well I know I can't sleep if it is to warm. Have a good week. Stag cool, dry, and safe.
  9. Sorry for the confusion. The OBC I get doesn't show until we board it's from my Princess Visa. I tried to swap out two excursions in Oct. to use my OBC because was told cancel for credit card credit rebook using OBC. Nope your were waitlisted as soon as I cancelled I lost one of them to somebody else. The other was canceled. I will use it to purchase the packages though, thank you very much.
  10. Wow we always book deck 8 because they have been covered. Had 9 once and couldn't use the balcony during the day. Glad I saw this when looking for info on this ship. I see from another post they have some covered minis on higher decks. Will need to look closer at this ship or just check for other Princess ships we have sailed on in the past. Only looked at this for our sons and grandson looks like more for them to do on the larger ship.
  11. I'm one on the fence, when we sail it will be 4 adults and one teen. Teen drinks soda, mocktails, and water. Hubby drinks soda and water, two sons drink beer, wine, and a cocktail sometimes, plus soda, water, and specialty coffees. Me I drink everything but soda 😁 but some days just coffee, tea and water I need to be in the mood. WiFi big draw for the boys and we always do auto tip anyway so that wouldn't change. I am reading the package can be purchased on board the first day? I always have a boat load of OBC maybe will do that. Hate that we need to pay for excursions before we sail use to use OBC for these. Last time waited had next to nothing available so that is no longer an option either. Thanks folks as always a wealth of knowledge on these boards.
  12. Wow do I have some catching up to do. We had the drink package last Oct. hubby doesn't drink but I do not a lot but if I want one I have it or even two, I'm not driving. I loved this package we always got a coffee card for me and soda sticker for him pre paid tips and used only free minutes at the internet location on board. I had my lattes every morning and never ran out with no limit. Plus I like having water in my tote all day no running back to buffet to fill a bottle. We got four bottles a day plus hubby had his fill of soda. The tips not an issue always pre pay now WiFi was a bonus while in the cabin at night and early in the day we both used unlimited wifi. We were on the sapphire and had no issues. New package not so sure they can keep those desserts for one and it will depend on how high they have gone. We had this booked prior to the increase and desserts and it was well worth it for me. Something else I didn't know was we could carry on soda and water? Has this always been the case? I do take on a bottle of wine that I like for the cabin on occasion but that's been it. Thanks for this post we are looking to book Alaska for the five of us next year. Will keep an eye on this board.
  13. Well down to 38 days guys and gals. FB has calmed down on the negative reviews nothing much on CC. For that matter not a whole lot for any posts here. Will keep checking in as we get closer. I'm all set to just drop the clothes into to checked bag and am done. Take care everybody try to stay cool and dry.
  14. 43 more days how many of this roll call are left. Seeing nicer reviews on FB but not on CC member reviews. Still plan to have a good time. Did ask John H. the carnival ambassador about AC issues and he said there are not issues, but may want to take a fan and no they don't supply this as other have stated. So now I need to get a fan and carry in our carry on bag because 75 may be ok for carnival but to warm for me. Time to try and sleep a little, night folks.
  15. Oh never added these that would be a twist. Maybe when we have brunch in a few weeks.
  16. Don't forget the fresh black pepper. Darn it now we have to have biscuits and gravy with Sunday breakfast. I need to stop looking at food posts 😁.
  17. Under 50 day mark anybody getting excited? We decided to go for it we aren't on the upper decks later at night and past the nightclub scene so plan to just enjoy the ship. If any issues just won't sail Carnival again plenty of cruise lines 😁. All I know is I'm cruising in 49 more days, happy, happy, joy, joy. Stay safe out there everyone with all this crazy weather. Laura
  18. Oh no, I don't see coffee before 7:00 AM? Is coffee available at 5:00 or so in the buffet area? Anywhere on the ship, what about us early risers do we need to pay for coffee at the specialty coffee counter?
  19. When I had a port for a years worth of chem they sent me to a different X-Ray at the airport even with my card, but nothing on the cruise just pulled down the shirt a little two inch scar was obvious.
  20. Hubby has two knees and one hip replaced, never an issue cruising. They just wand him it takes seconds and we are through.
  21. Thanks we can't carry the luggage, well can if absolutely must but why would we.
  22. That will be an issue we can't lug our bag down stairs. I know wait for the elevator, however if we need to meet at say 8:30 and are late due to 45 minute wait for the elevator would we just walk off? If we carry our own bags why do we need luggage tags? Manhattan is a good location for us for a short get away (a week) never had an issue with NCL unclear why we would with Carnival it's the same port. Thank you so much for this information. We will be fine just need to plan, would be nice if they had separate line for those with passports. With facial recognition it would move right along.
  23. Hello all we are sailing on the Venezia from Manhattan in Aug. Question on Carnival do you get luggage tags the evening before you dock and put your bags out that night? I'm reading about trouble leaving because the hall and stair are full of passengers trying to get off with luggage. Other line we get a color/number and wait where instructed. They call us we all walk out together how different is Carnival? Have a train to catch and need to plan accordingly allowed six hours get off the ship get a taxi across the street and get to the station. Would like to grab lunch at the station for the trip home. Thanks everybody.
  24. Another two bad reviews, I'm not telling hubby. I would cancel but don't want to forgot a chunk of change if I do. More pot issue for some on this last trip and a fight which delayed some people getting off the ship.
