  1. They have a couple of competitors like College Hunks Hauling Junk and Junk King that follow the same business model. They may not service your area either.
  2. Even easier...call 1-800-GOT-JUNK and they'll put everything from your house into their truck and take it away for you.
  3. Guessing here, but have you tried uploading from different places on the ship? It may just be that you have a really poor connection to the ship's Wi-Fi.
  4. We've been having a great long weekend. The golf course at our club has been closed for 7 months, going through a complete renovation. All new grass everywhere in addition to some reshaped fairways, greens, and bunkers. Thursday and Friday was our grand reopening tournament. The course is in spectacular condition. Last night was a grand reopening celebration with open bar, great food spread across several food stations, and live music from a good local band called Soundwavez. Yesterday afternoon, as a sort of warm-up for last night, we went to the Right Whale Festival. I had never heard of Right Whales until the day before yesterday. They are near extinction, with less than 350 left, and there has been a lot of effort of the last several years to help bring them back to a more normal population level. They feed and mate during the summer off the coast of New England and Canada, and then move to NE Florida/Georgia/Carolinas to give birth and raise their young. The festival had live music, tents with various vendors selling things or making people aware of their environment/animal focused efforts, food trucks, and a small beer garden. The weather was perfect...maybe even a little hot in the sun...at 80F. The Seaworld animal rescue truck was there with a Crested Caracara, or at least so I was told. To finish the weekend, we are headed to our local football bar in a couple of hours to watch the Bills play one of the teams from New Jersey. A win would be a great way to end a great weekend. Go Bills!
  5. Strange that Dexter would appear here. Yesterday, we were watching a commercial for a new TV show starring Jimmy Smits. Micheline asked me if he was in Bosch or Ray Donovan. I thought about it for a few seconds and said neither...he was the bad guy in one season of Dexter.
  6. This is absolutely correct. I've not been able to recreate the "perfect Mai Tai" here. About the only thing that I haven't changed in my attempts, is the location. I've settled on a pretty good Mai Tai though. 1 oz light rum, 3 oz pineapple juice, 1 oz passionfruit juice, 1/2 oz of orgeat syrup, mix and top with a 1 oz Myer's rum floater. The Myer's seems to give the best dark floater look. I ended up skipping the OJ and guava juice, but the best blend of juices is probably an individual preference. I love pineapple juice. Although I couldn't change locations, I did buy some tiki glasses to help make it feel more tropical.
  7. For those who enjoy dreaming about super yachts (like me), check out NautiStyles on YouTube. They do a lot of high end yacht tours.
  8. Wow Greg. Very smart move getting the hotel room. The VIP list alone could be deadly. If you want to deviate from Whiskey, try the Appleton Estate 15 year rum. I've been using the 8 year in drinks and it's really good. Never had the 15 year though. You'll have a hard enough timing pacing yourself though with just whiskey.
  9. This seems to be the trend for the super rich and their super yachts. Since a super yacht OBVIOUSLY isn't big enough, you have a support ship follow you around to carry all of your toys. The support ships also have cabins for additional crew. Wow.
  10. I've driven through Batavia more times than I can count, cutting the corner from I-90 to I-390, but never stopped there. We lived in Williamsville, which was only about 30 miles from Batavia.
  11. I've not been on here as much lately, so I'll reply quickly to a few posts here... Congrats Greg on your 1 year retirement date. I remember thinking about my 1 year date, but completely forgot about it on my second year date. I think that's a good thing. I'm a fast 2-4 finger typer. I'll occassionally throw in a 5th or 6th finger but that's purely from years of repetition. I also took typing in high school but all I remember is the exercise to learn the middle row, finding the "home" position with index fingers on f and j (that have little bumps on them so you can find them easily) and then typing a ; s l d k f j g h using different fingers. It was drilled into our brains such that I haven't forgotten 40+ years later. Lord Bobmacliberty, first of his name, from House BillsMafia, worshipper of Josh Allen (and Thurman Thomas).
  12. I would have been tempted to walk up the gang plank and say, "I'm here for the tour!" What's the worst that they can do...throw you in the water? Maybe I'd make a new billionaire friend.
  13. I'm a big Caipirinha fan, at least now. I first ordered one on a Royal ship because I had the drink package. Figured it was a good way to try one, in case I didn't like it. I didn't like it. I don't remember why exactly, but I ended up throwing it away. Fast forward a couple of years to a business trip in Brazil where I tried again. This time, I loved it...so refreshing. I could completely understand why it's the national drink of Brazil. Maybe the Royal version was made wrong? Or maybe they used cheap Cachaca? Who knows. If you're a vodka fan, try a Caipiroska. It's like a Caipirinha but made with vodka instead of cachaca. Good drink package experiment if you find a bartender that knows how to make it.
  14. We enjoyed HOT D, but it's hard to keep up with all of the different characters...worse than GOT. There is so much time change between some episodes that they change actors to play the same role to get someone who looks older, and some of the names sound similar. I would need to watch an episode summary on YouTube after the fact to understand what happened. 😁
  15. Edit: The pitch on the right is an off speed pitch. The leg kick is higher but what the batters would see is the higher position of the glove.
  16. I'd add Old Forester 1910 to the list. Most would probably say that the 1920 is the best in the Old Forester "Whiskey Row", but I prefer the oaky sweet flavor of the 1910. It's my go-to bourbon if I'm not adding any sort of mixer. If you're not sure George what your friend likes in bourbon, the 1920 is a safer bet. I completely agree with Greg about the Weller...if you can find it (good luck with that).
  17. We didn't expect any kids in our neighborhood. It's mostly retired people...we are pretty clearly below the average age. There are only 3 kids that I know of and all 3 are older teenagers...at least that's what I thought. I glanced out our front window before dinner and saw a couple of parents walking up to our neighbor's house across the street with a kid in costume. I told Micheline and we scrambled to figure out what to give him (we didn't buy any candy). Micheline had a larger Lindor candy bar that she breaks into pieces for a small taste of chocolate every now and then. It was unopened, so we're good. Then I see that there's a second kid. Now what? The Lindor thing is the only thing in the house remotely like candy. Let's give them money. How much is appropriate...$1 per kid? $2? Seems tacky, but what else can we do? The doorbell rang a few minutes later and sure enough, 2 parents with 2 boys about 10 years old. We went to give them money and the parents immediately said that's not necessary. Several houses had given the kids large candy bars (probably like us) and they already had more than they need. They didn't really want any money. We talked with them for a few minutes. Nice people with several things in common with us. They are fairly new to the neighborhood. We agreed that we need to get together for happy hour sometime. We might have made new adult friends. 😁 Halloween used to be our biggest decoration holiday...bigger than Christmas. Maybe we'll go all out on the house next year even though that's not a thing here. Maybe we'll start something new.
  18. Glad that you were finally able to post. The internet (or lack of it) would really bother me. Schooner Bar liquor selection looking as weak as R Bar. I'm sure you'll still find some good drinks. My last 2 cruises also had the sleepy piano music. What's up with that? Where's the upbeat sing along stuff?
  19. I'm happy with the win. Not pleased with their run defense or how their offense disappeared in the second half. And hopefully Poyer's elbow problem isn't serious. Oh well...in the NFL all that matters is the W. No need for style points like college football.
  20. And in case you don't know, you do not NEED to buy a package for 4 devices. You can purchase just a single device package (or 2 device package) and share it between 4 people. The drawback is that only one person (or 2 people) at a time can use the internet. Each person will need to log in before they can get internet access, and in the process of doing so, will log out anyone else who was using the internet. We always buy a package with enough devices to cover the number of people traveling, as it always seems that multiple people want to access the internet at the same time, and it gets painful to share. If you just need occasional use and don't mind sharing, you can save some money.
  21. Moving can be very stressful. I hope you find a good moving company. Also this time next year, if today is any indication, 74 and partly cloudy. Still shorts and flip flops. 😁
  22. I didn't do anything specific to turn on the iPhone left behind notification. I only recently started wearing my Apple Watch while playing golf, so maybe it's been turned on the whole time and I just never noticed. If you go to the Find My app and touch Devices on the bottom of the screen, you'll see various Apple devices listed. Touch your iPhone to see your notification settings. For me, there's a section called "Notify When Left Behind" that says Enabled for your Apple Watch. This web site may help you get set up. Looks like you can also define locations where you will not be notified, e.g., your house if the phone is in one room and you're in another.
