  1. I may have told this story already, but I got to touch the Stanley Cup in Fort Erie, ON. Craig Ramsay had it for a day as an assistant coach the Lightning who won in 2004. Not sure why he chose Fort Erie. The Keeper of the Cup was not pleased but I was talking to Ramsay while standing next to the cup and touched it before he could stop me. I played street hockey with Ramsay (and Don Luce, Ramsay's center on the Sabres checking line) a few times. Ramsay and Luce were both friends of my neighbor's parents.
  2. I think I understand why green and wood together as a single word is blocked here. Wood, or woody, is slang for a man's erection. Put green in front of it and you get a few different versions on that theme. More info here, but be warned that you might not like what you read: Urban Dictionary: ***** Or it's just a bug in CC's software. Who knows?
  3. That's great progress Lenny. Congratulations. I'm looking forward to you reporting back that you walked past all 560 houses.
  4. Congrats to you and your daughter! I don't know how one can never acquire a tase for Buckeyes. They are the greatest "cookie" in the history of cookies. I'm a little bit biased toward things that contain peanut butter (Reese's cups/pieces, Peanut Butter Chip ice cream...especially Graeter's, bananas with peanut butter, etc.). One of the best things to come from my 28 years of living in Ohio (other than the birth of my daughters 😁) is being exposed to Buckeyes. I'd never heard of them until living there.
  5. Micheline's planted/transplanted flowers are blooming nicely. Between what Micheline has told me, and Apple's new ability to identify flowers from a picture, I think I will have the correct name for the pictures below. Please though, any of you with more flower knowledge than me (doesn't take much), feel free to correct me. Hollyhock in a large vase Thunbergia erecta (aka King's Mantle, Bush Clock Vine) growing on a trellis. Golden Trumpet growing on the same trellis Canna Lilly in a large pot (camera had a difficult time with this one in the shade) We have a back corner in our yard that has a lot of azalea bushes in a large rock bed, but they aren't doing well. Micheline wants to transplant the azaleas elsewhere and I will then turn that entire part of the yard into an artificial putting green. ⛳😁
  6. That reminds me...Greg posted a link to the Kraken website that has several cocktail recipes. I still haven't tried the Krakhattan that looks very interesting. Maybe tonight as a pre-dinner cocktail...if I remember.
  7. I didn't know, until I saw it earlier today, that Val Kilmer had throat cancer. I liked how they worked him into the new Top Gun.
  8. Micheline did her first “harvest” from her raised garden…mint leaves. Guess what we did with them? Mojitos!! Cheers to a great weekend!
  9. Enjoy the game! I used to be a big Buffalo Sabres fan but that didn't stick (no pun intended) when I moved away from Buffalo. It's a lot harder for me to follow hockey in a city where hockey isn't important. I agree though...there's nothing like live playoff hockey. Every goal means so much.
  10. Welcome to Florida! Looks like we had the same designer for our kitchen cabinets. 😁 Ignore the computer stuff that's temporarily on our kitchen island.
  11. We saw it on Wednesday and thought it was great. They do several things to pay "homage" to the original movie and I liked how they tied them together. The action scenes are intense.
  12. To be clear, the happy hour still exists with free drinks in a ship with a Suite Lounge. Vouchers must now be used in the Diamond Lounge. I think the Diamond Lounge still has snacks during happy hour times...just not free drinks.
  13. Yes. Normally, it will only be where we do various things on our computers (like post to Cruise Critic 😁). We already have more TVs (4) than people (2) so we probably will not watch a lot of TV in there ourselves. I might use it as a sports man cave occassionally, but it will mostly be an office and possibly an extra TV/bed room when we have guests.
  14. The first step in our office cabinet install is complete. The base cabinets are installed and the countertop template is done. Below are pictures of the real thing (upper cabinets waiting to be installed on the right), and a computer model showing what the final install will look like. The computer model does not show the actual wood finish, which is dark to match some of the cabinets in our kitchen. The countertop will be a light-colored quartz, again matching our kitchen. We each have our own workspace and desktop computer. The computers will be in the base cabinets on either end. The open shelves will likely hold the ship models that we've purchased for the ships we've cruised on. The corner where I stood to take the picture has a white TV cabinet with a TV wall mounted above it. There will be some sort of chair/small sofa/pull out twin bed in the corner to the right of the window so this can be an extra TV room and/or bedroom if 2 guest bedrooms are not enough (i.e. future grand kids). Not sure yet exactly what the chair/sofa we'll put there.
  15. Our new office cabinets are finally getting partially installed today. They'll install the base cabinets and then make a template for the countertop. The countertop will take a couple of weeks to make. At that point, they'll come back to install the top and the upper cabinets, and finish any final details. We should finally have a real office before the end of the month. No more folding tables!
  16. Finding a guy like that is worth his weight in gold. We have a painter like that. He doesn't just paint...he fixes all of the little imperfections that he finds as he goes. He says it's the perfectionist in him. He wants things to look perfect when he's done, even if something isn't really his responsibility to fix.
  17. The darkness may also be 4K related. 4K TV sets will appear darker than an HD TV set, especially if your 4K TV has an HDR setting. I had this problem when I first watched Ozark in 4K a few years ago on my first 4K TV. It was so dark that I had a hard time seeing what was happening. Why Does 4K Look Dark? (hometheateracademy.com)
  18. Between year-round allergies (mold and cat dander), head colds, the flu, and what I think was bronchitis that lasted several weeks, I've had off and on symptoms that may have been Covid. I've tested myself many times...always negative. I'm half hoping that I've had Covid at some point so that I've got some natural antibodies.
