  1. Our travel insurer (very happy with since over 30 years) is now changing conditions and will only pay 1 insured event due to pandemic going forward. More European insurers trying to get out of paying claims due to pandemic vs epidemic.
  2. We did Rome to Dubai (in 2013 i think). it was an enjoyable and memorable experience ; pyramids, Valley of Kings or snorkling in Red Sea, Tour to Petra, Suez Canal, Gulf of Aden. Will do it again one of these days.
  3. Yes, picture looks familiar. Depending which day you choose the “Clinica Veneer” (and some others, not on your list show up or not) when selecting site. Seems like many August dates or weekends they do not work. But selecting a date in September, eg 12th, they show in drop down menu.
  4. So many good brains here, maybe you could help me as well : I have a problem my telephone number under contact information. There under tel nr you choose a country and the tel code for the country is filled in through drop down menu, eg USA + 1, Switzerland + 41. However this creates a problem when I want to make a courtesy booking and online check-in for an existing booking in May did not work either. I get an error message "phone number accepts digits only". It should be 00 1 for USA, 00 41 for Switzerland, etc. I have several times tried to change from + to 00, but the country code are fixed dropdown items in contact details and can not be entered separately. When trying to make courtesy booking or online check in, the contact details, name, tel nr, email address, Captains Club nr is automatically copied over from Contact Details and can not be overwritten. The error message then always comes :” phone number accepts digits only” and courtesy booking cannot be completed. I somehow managed to complete checkin, can t remember exactly how, probably with Ap on phone. But I can never complete a courtesy booking. Sent already several emails to Celebrity and they either do not respond or send a standard email : pls call engagement centre for assistance with your booking. And they tell me they need to flag this as an IT issue, but nothing ever happens. Anybody else has same issue ? Or how does your tel nr show up if you try to make courtesy booking - as + 1 …. or 00 1 …. ? Any help much appreciated.
  5. We had very good experience via https://democratest.com/. They have several locations. Reservation online. We went to the one close to Las Ramblas/Ronda Sant Pau. Was a bit difficult to find because it is a dental/veneer clinic and the Covid test was not indicated outside. Cost ca 25 Euro and we waited about 25 min for result they send per email. Just that they don t speak much English so not much conversation possible.
  6. Was very surprised being told today by Celebrity via TA that the Book Later Certificate I bought on board was not combinable with the Special they have on right now (30% off, OBC, flights offered until tonight). Never heard that there was a limited use to these certificates. Has anybody experienced this yet ?
  7. just noticed that I forgot bracket and this distorts meaning of sentence. Should be : Long pants and decent polo shirt or short/long arm shirt (NO collarless T-shirts) will be fine for your boys and yourself.
  8. Same on our Beyond cruise in May (from Barcelona to Rome). Long pants and decent polo shirt or short/long arm shirt (no collarless T-shirts will be fine for your boys and yourself.
  9. It happened to me as well. We booked tours many weeks before cruise, never got the screen for payment, but OBC credit was reduced accordingly. However once Onboard we still had full OBC on room account and saw afterwards our credit card had been charged 2 days before cruise.
  10. We booked excursions online pre cruise and assumed these were going to be taken from our indulge OBC, especially since we were never prompted for credit card payment. However just days prior to boarding our credit card was charged. On top of that one of the excursions we had to cancel was credited to our on board account and not to our credit card as it should have been. Luckily we could use the OBC for other things. That was on Beyond this year May and we were not in Aqua.
  11. We were going forth and back on finalizing a booking for a November 2022 Transatlantic. This post now helped to make up our minds. Whereas we cruised this Spring in the Mediterranean, accepting the risk of catching Covid and assuming that we then could isolate in our sunset veranda, this post and others have made it clear that the chances are much bigger that we would be moved and stuck in an OV cabin. And we are not going to risk this on a 14 day TA. By-the-way we did not get it on board last time but tested positive 3 days after embarking. But with the new variants have the same chance of getting it again.
  12. Same for us and saves them a trip.
  13. Can t agree more with your observations on Beyond being dark and especially LOUD almost everywhere. We had also mixed experiences like this on our cruise in May. We had trouble finding a quiet place. The combination of loud, irritating music (even outside on top) and uncomfortable seating in places like Eden, Al Bacio etc. did not really make it a relaxing cruise. We had a nice roomy sunset veranda but helas could not really enjoy balcony as it was fully exposed to the sun. Next time we will go on the S class again.
  14. Can not find what Reflection is doing then. Any information ?
  15. Sorry Jim, but is your 2nd paragraph not in contradiction to what Jelayne posted today to another OP in this respect ? Just getting confused and not sure anymore what applies. She wrote : Here is a link to the info you are seeking . Go through this to the Covid 19!assistance section https://www.celebritycruises.com/health-and-safety see towards the end, under Covid Assistance
  16. No offers like that any more on our Beyond cruise in May.
  17. Thanks Jim for the TA I am looking at, the difference between NRF and RF rate is 454 $ per room. Should then be a non brainer really ? I am just hesitant as I would like go to a higher category later on like we did in the past when rates dropped or they had special deals and we paid a couple dollars extra to get Aqua. After Covid I am not so sure anymore about the rules and if this would still work with NRF.
  18. Thanks a lot Jelayne. I want to make a courtesy booking and went thru all steps, but did not see this anywhere.
  19. So they do no longer give FCC anymore for non refundable deposit paid minus $ 100 ? Other questions came up : A) if rates should go down before or after final payment, can you still upgrade (with paying difference) if you have a non refundable rate ? B) or there is a new or better promotion on same sailing, can you still change to that rate, even if you have a non refundable rate ? In the past, it was easy to rebook etc, but unfortunately it is no longer clear what can or can not be done with or without penalty or losing deposit.
  20. Hope someone can help me as I can not find the info on non refundable on X website. I have learned several things here already, just want to make sure I understand correctly : 1. If I book non refundable now, I think penalty will be $ 100 pp. when changing to another cruise, rest of deposit can be transferred as down payment to new booking. With CwC, which is no longer valid, you could get FCC for the value of the depost minus $ 100 pp to be booked within 12 months - Is this still case now or do you have to transfer booking to specific cruise immediately ? 2. If booking refundable now, I think Jim mentioned that this can be changed to non refundable, which is cheaper, before final payment (or 90 days before). However, will this then still be at the rate of the original booking or the rate and/or conditions valid when making the change to non refundable ? (good when prices go down but otherwise not so..). Thanks a lot for helping me out with your knowledge.
  21. Were on Beyond this May. Has wow factor, but not really cosy. Colors and lower ceilings make certain areas a bit gloomy. And maybe seating furniture is modern and looks cute, but is certainly not very comfortable. We were also disturbed by the annoying pulsating background music which was sometimes too loud and in certain areas you could hear 3 different songs at same time). In the cabin (were in SV which was nice and roomy) we often wondered if the designers ever sailed in a ship or in such accomodations (some things were not practical at all and with little effort could have been so much better, eg space in cupboards, plugs, sink, towel racks, etc) S class remains my favorite.
  22. I would be very hesitant to assume that what the person presently with Covid on Beyond is experiencing would be guaranteed in future. What I have learned from these boards is that Celebrity has absolutely no consistent policy how to treat positive cases. It is really handled case by case and depends on situation, how many passengers are infected, how full the schip is, how much staff is available etc. Remember that Beyond has been sailing with a third of capacity (on our cruise in May and subsequent ones) to maybe half now and this most probably will no longer be the case later in the year. Moreover, more and more West European countries are now seeing a rise in cases again due to a newer Omicron variation and this could then also be reflected on the ships. We had nice holidays on Beyond in our SV but unfortunately also tested positive after returning home.
