  1. I did seven nights on the Anthem in January and thought the food in the MDR was fine. Everything was served proper temperature and decent quality. Not gourmet food but fine for free dining on a cruise. I also did a couple lunches and a dinner in the specialty restaurants.
  2. Great photos. Can't wait till Friday when I board the Meraviglia.
  3. I don't understand the crying over paying $5 for a second entree. If you do it every single night on a seven night cruise it's $35. MSC fares are way less than Celebrity on almost every single cruise you can price for the same itinerary and the same dates in the same cabin category. Yes I know googling like crazy you'll find an exception, but overall you can't compare Celebrity and MSC pricing. Especially when MSC tosses in the drink package and WIFI for about $40 a day on the specials which are very common. You pick your preferences and what's important to you. And at least on the Maraviglia free ice cream is available on the pool deck and sometimes in the buffet. You pay for fancy Gelato in the extra cost venue but that's your choice.
  4. Instead of losing half the fare I would go on the cruise and make my own decision on whether it was good or not. I mean it's a weekend cruise not a 20 day affair.
  5. Exactly! I'd rather spend a day on the ship than a day in airports and flying. And then you need to fly in a day early to be safe. I've cruised out of NY in winter a couple dozen times. The vast majority of the time it's already warming up nicely by early afternoon your first full day at sea. Love leaving a cold winter day in NY and cruising south.
  6. I've been on over 30 and always get an envelope evening before disembarkation. On every line.
  7. Every cruise I've ever been on the room attendant has left an envelope on the last day. It's up to you if you want to put anything in it.
  8. I take this entire thread with a grain of salt. I'm on Meraviglia Jan. 26 for a nine nighter so I'll see for myself. First cruise on MSC, but I already have a second booked. Of course we all have different opinions, but I've never had a cruise I would consider bad.
  9. You have to be kind of crazy, or just misinformed, to go ala carte. The prices are ridiculous ala carte IMO.
  10. I've cruised numerous times on NCL and RCL out of NY. The drink plan was always available right on boarding. And I just cruised early December.
  11. I don't know. I recently booked one with the packages included and it came out to an additional $40 a day for the Easy Plus package and free wifi. And Fantastica class was also included. That's a good deal to me.
  12. It's not Ala Carte if you have the package. It's a set price per person. I don't know the policy but I kind of doubt they'll let two people share for one price.
  13. Exactly what I was thinking I would order.
  14. Maybe people in Yacht Club interior are bidding on Yacht Club balcony or higher. That would open up a Yacht Club interior.
  15. I'm right after you guys on the 1/26 sailing. Be curious of the model price too.
  16. Nobody can really answer that but yourself. Do you like to drink on a cruise? That's the biggest addition, and also the free wifi which saves somewhere around $15 or so a day. So most drinks are about $10 each. The extra package being offered on sale came to about $40 a day for both of my cruises. Was well worth it for me. I always take a wifi package so the remainder of $25-$30 a day for drinks is a no brainer, it also includes specialty coffees. I would go way over that if I was paying for each drink. It's up to you if it works for your situation. The packages also included Fantastica level which enables you pick your room location versus having MSC pick it, and also free room delivery of continental breakfast in the morning if desired.
  17. No cruise line is going to hold a price forever, especially if you didn't put down a deposit. Prices usually go up the longer you wait.
  18. That's what they gave me. Last three cruises were solo on RCL and they always give me a table for myself. Which is what I want anyway.
  19. No difference. It's business. But they have to make that back. Crying that they're making money now is silly.
  20. No tricks here. They say you can bring a bottle onboard. I do that and bring it to the dining room. If they want to charge the corkage fee that's fine with me, it's spelled out. If they don't (and they never have) that's fine with me too.
  21. Yes you can reserve MTD on the app and you definitely should. Makes it nice and easy onboard.
  22. Yes, but at sky high interest rates. If it was such a "safe" bet believe me the rates would have been way lower. Banks were borrowing from Treasury at almost zero and lending to RCL at 11% in May 2020. Do a little research. RCL was actually floating bonds but it's the same concept.
