  1. I just got off the Oasis two weeks ago and the food was fine. I ate in the MDR five nights and specialty two nights. The MDR food was not gourmet, but it was always served nice and warm and was fine. A few of the meals were really good.
  2. Easy. Cape Liberty. Only a couple of hours from home in SW Connecticut.
  3. Exactly. 5:30 is ridiculously early for me and 8 is kinda late. On Anthem in December I chose MTD and made reservations on the app for 7:30, on Oasis last month I did the same and made the reservations for 7. Never waited a minute on either ship, and had the same table and waiters each night. Both ships were full. They even had my bottle of wine on the table when I arrived.
  4. I saw Cats for the first time on the Oct. 15 Oasis sailing. I enjoyed it and I usually don't like the main shows. Yes I would prefer Grease just because it's one of my favorite musicals, but Cats was fine. I don't get the group hate on this board.
  5. Plus they don't live on the ship year round. A lot of them are married and have kids and homes to pay for. Some people are ridiculous on this board.
  6. Yeah but it was $71 for three meals gratuities included. Just got off Royal Caribbean and it was $132 for the three meal package plus 18% prepaid gratuities or $156. For $71on MSC it was a great deal. Now they've upped it to $110 and they pick the three restaurants, one of which is Hola where it's $18 for all you can eat anyway. So you're now paying $92 for the other two meals which is not a great deal. Thankfully I already bought the package for $71 on my upcoming January cruise, and you don't have to use Hola as one of them.
  7. True. Never thought about it that way. I always figured it was a flat fee.
  8. Sure, but it costs them absolutely zero to give free internet. It'a already on the ship, they're just unlocking it for you.
  9. I've never been charged, including last week on the Oasis. The waiter uncorked my bottle and said they would hold my bottle for me. Everyday after that it was either on the table when I arrived or they brought it right out. And they always poured the glass for me. Great service.
  10. It's a studio room for one person. Of course you're not going to book it for two...never mind three!
  11. Yes. I just booked #13342 for a cruise in Jan 2025. Love that the solo balconies are aft.
  12. LOL. Look at the pricing on those reallocated "solo cabins". You save the fees and port charges on the second passenger and maybe $100 or $200 on a balcony cabin. It's far from 50% off booking double.
  13. I'm not a beach person but I still really like Coco Cay. I go early afternoon when some people are starting to return already, get a lounger for a couple of hours, have a nice drink, and a lunch at the snack shack. I walk around a bit, may sit near the pool for a little while. It's great because you can go back to the ship whenever you want. you don't have to lug beach stuff around, bathrooms are right there, etc. Beautiful spot.
  14. People seem to make up stuff to complain about. I've never heard anybody post or say their cards were taken before they got to the room. Believe me if it were a regular occurrence it would be all over this board lol.
  15. If you book the three night it's $131 for three meals. or the BOGO for $88. Myself, I booked Chops for lunch at $25, you still get the 8 ounce filet.
  16. I've been all around the country on Amtrak, sometimes over eight nights and always do it in a roomette, which I believe are about 4 by 6 or 24 sq ft and I love it. A solo cruise cabin feels huge next to that.
  17. Yeah, it was when cruising was just starting back up. It was basically seven lunches (including embarkation) and eleven dinners possible, and I hit Johnny Rockets a couple of times also.
  18. I had UDP on an 11 night cruise on the Anthem which included 6 sea days. Honestly it was too much after a few days. The problem on the Anthem is not enough variety. There's only Chops, Jamies Italian, Wonderland and Izumi (no hibachi offered). There's no lunch in Wonderland, so it was only Chops or Jamies for lunch on sea days. I don't really like sushi so wasn't that interested in Izumi, although I went a couple times. The lunch and dinner menus in Chops and Jamies are pretty similar so it got repetitive quickly and I liked Wonderland but it's the type of place you would only want to hit a couple times over 11 nights. But the cost was only $208 for the entire cruise so I didn't mind too much, at the current prices I wouldn't do it unless there was a lot more choice.
  19. They use a Barolo sauce if I recall correctly. Basically a wine and tomato sauce. That's the difference.
  20. That's my plan for my January cruise. Metro North train from CT to Grand Central, subway from there down to Wall St., and quick ferry ride.
  21. Obviously they have a pretty good handle on the pricing and demand.
  22. I've had the Halibut and it was delicious. The Short Rib is great too.
