  1. No--soda from gun' date=' mocktails , and hot chocolate. They have removed the cans of root beer and the shakes from the package.[/quote']

That's a shame the shakes have been removed :(. For the soda only package do you have to buy it on board? There is no opportunity to select it on my cruise personaliser.

How much is the soda only on board?

  2. We are arriving into the cruise port on a Thursday in early August. From what I can tell, we are the only ship in port that day.

We were thinking of starting our day in Marigot. Does anyone know what time the markets are open, are they fairly big, how much time should we allow to walk around?

Also, how many other things are there to see in Marigot- we have our eating plan all set!

    thanks

The market is definitely on in the morning. I bought some flip flops from the market. I had a choice of several stalls so it is a fair size market. You don't need much time there though. It is definitely geared up to tourists. Marigot is quite small. We grabbed a sandwich in a local bakery during our free time in Marigot. I recommend you do a tour which includes both the Dutch and French parts of St Maarten as they are very different.

  3. Does anyone know if he is still in the tour business and/or has anyone toured with him recently? We used his service back in 2013, had a great time and would consider him again if he is still available.

    Thanks, :)

We had a tour with him last year and he was excellent but I have been looking on the web and can't find anything for him now so maybe he has stopped touring?

  4. We do round trips from Southampton every year as we love them. We've done up to 70 days. You get to know more people and it's total relaxation. Some of the activities this year included choir and zumba, Salsa dancing and a charity Fete, as well as all the usuals. We also like the bigger ships for cruises like this because you can ring the changes by eating in different venues and going to different types of entertainment, making the sea days all seem different. Britannia is the perfect ship for this. Are the children going with you? We haven't seen many children onboard- but then we don't cruise during school holidays.

The weather can be variable of course and we prefer East to West because the weather improves each day. As others have said a balcony is well worth the money. We certainly go prepared in case the weather is bad so load our iPads with videos, music, books and audio-books. You've cruised a lot (we met you in Bilbao years ago!) so you've done sea days. You're very sociable and I'm sure you'd be fine on a TA - but only you know for sure.

    Hello again!

We are sailing from West to East so it will get cooler rather than warmer as we go. I'm sailing with my Mum not the children or Rob. We have got a balcony cabin I thought with a lot of sea days it would be especially nice to sit and chill.

We will be sailing in March starting in Barbados, then Dominica, St Maarten, British Virgin Islands and the Azores before reaching Southampton. Am I right in thinking the weather should be good until the Azores? What do they do about evening entertainment. The acts would have to stay on board for a lot of sea days. I hope it isn't over reliant on the ship cast as I love to see the guest entertainers.

I'm assuming we can walk off and pick up tours in the Caribbean. I normally pre-book but am hoping for some cheap tours at the quayside.

  5. Hi

We've just booked our first transatlantic cruise on Britannia and I would love to know what your experiences have been. Did the sea days get too much? Was there enough entertainment during the day? Were there any special events on?

What tips would you have for a transatlantic newbie?

  6. Very well put.

Could I say you should have mentioned your excellent videos?

Very kind :) One of the formals is black and white night so make sure you pack something appropriate. It can be all black for the ladies so it isn't hard to follow the dress code.

Here is a video of Britannia that we made on board. It tells you all about the facilities on board.

We also made a video of our cabin. Here is the link.

  7. We've got £60 OBC whoooo and would like to know the price of a cosmopolitan, a sparkling wine, wine by the glass v bottle.

I plan on bringing wine for the cabin but would like a cocktail or two.

Does P&O have a cocktail of the day like other cruise lines I can't remember.

  8. Make sure you pack a jacket for the gentlemen. Dress code is strict and upheld so formal night at least a jacket and most will be wearing DJs.

Afternoon tea everyday in one of the restaurants

Free shuttle buses unless saver fare

    No service charge on drinks

Unlimited drinks can be brought on board including spirits both at embarkation and at the ports.

Have low expectations for entertainment in the theatre

Coffee making facilities provided in all cabins

    Reasonably priced tips

No drinks packages but cheaper drinks

Inferior buffet but MDR open for lunch everyday

Great British sailaway complete with flags and sing a longs on last port.

    Valet parking at Southampton

More strict boarding times at embarkation

  9. Book with Celebrity. They have a floating pontoon in Gereinger which means you don't have to use the tender boats like other companies.

Flam - definitely the train journery

Stavagner - oil refinery museum is in walking distance and is interactive

Bergen - easy DIY, tourist train, fish markets, funicular

Gereinger - take a trip. The rib boat is great fun. Hot chocolate is good here, buttons of chocolate added to hot milk.

Get a balcony cabin - the view outside is better than the theatre, stunning, so quiet and it changes every minute

  10. I thought that all RCI solariums were indoor but I've just seen a picture with no roof. We are traveling from the UK in October and were planning to relax in the solarium but assumed it was indoors!!

Please can you let me know your favourite spots on Navigator especially if the solarium ends up being a miss.

  11. You need the Ultimate package for speciality coffee, bottled water and freshly squeezed OJ. The premium package doesn't include those. No problems with a white wine spritzer though - any wine, spirits, cocktails etc are included that are under $12 per drink.

Good news about the spritzer. I wouldn't upgrade the package to Ultimate as too pricey for what I'd have. I'll have mocktails and drink the free water. Hopefully the free coffee will taste okay :o

  12. Our cruise is offering 20% discount for pre-buying the package so I went for it.

My only concern is coffee. Is it included in the package? And water? Does it include freshly squeezed orange juice?

I usually go for the best non alcoholic package which includes these and am wondering if I've done the right thing going for this package.

We will be on Navigator in October. Will it have the self serve cups that we had on Anthem in April?

The package worked out at £27 a day. So I imagine I need to drink 3 glasses of wine to break even? Does it include a white wine spritzer?

    Thoughts please

  13. Another point is that medical/life insurance does not cover EVERY country' date=' such as war torn ones and countries with civil unrest. If there are travel advisories regarding Turkey, and your cruise is still stopping there, I would suggest contacting your insurance provider to ensure you will be covered. Same goes for terrorism, many policies exclude it.[/quote']

I do hope common sense prevails and we just don't go there!

  14. It's official. On the July 18 Reflection and was just notified by Celebrity that Kusadasi and Bodrum are off the itinerary. Now stopping at Rhodes (Greece) and Messina (Sicily).

Sent from my iPhone using Forums

We are leaving on 29th July and haven't heard anything yet but already have your substitute ports on our itinerary. We are hoping they drop Kusadasi. If they don't we will stay on the ship. Shame as there is a great water park for the kids there but it is just not worth the risk. Our little people are too precious to gamble with. The country is unstable.
