  1. We are sailing on Caribbean Princess with Rob who is now diabetic. This will be his first cruise on Princess since the diagnosis and I wondered what is always available and what has to be pre-ordered.

On P&O they have diabetic cakes always available for afternoon tea and diabetic ice cream in the MDR but you can pre-order any dessert the night before.

  2. Yes (Cool whip)

Fantastic! I think I'm going to try out the hot chocolate before I buy a coffee card on Royal.

Do they do an iced chocolate on the soda and more package? Now that would be fantastic!!!

  3. Its been quite sweet to watch your family grow up with you on each cruise :)

We first found your 'tours' when we were about to go on Oceana - seem to be following you around :D

I know what you mean I love looking back at early ones as Emily was only 5 years old on our first cruise and will be turning 11 on the Caribbean Princess. I see you are boarding Britannia in just 3 days so have a great trip!! Don't forget to take a wine box or two on board for the balcony!

  4. On the soda and more package can you get cream on top of your hot chocolate?

I always thought that hot chocolate was a punch on the coffee card so it you have both order the chocolate with your sticker not your coffee card!

  5. Read the link RickEK has given you all the way through. You will see that the OP, Supt, and a number of other people on the latest CB Med cruise, including myself, have made plenty of positive comments.

Incidentally, once I have booked a cruise, I never read comments/reviews till I've come back. I don't want to go on a cruise with a negative mindset and, whether it's coincidence or not, I've never been on a cruise that overall I haven't enjoyed.

It was post 21 from this thread that caused me to start this one!

"Entertainment was desperate... cruise director was dire.... notable feeling of overcrowding... rubbish three piece band... we found ourselves frequently bored and the overcrowded areas gave the feeling of nowhere to go....Apologies if this seems to have developed into an extended rant but this is honestly as found."

I was hoping for some positives rather than a link to the thread that got me reading other reviews as I was so worried!!

  6. Doing the Med in another week and would like to know if any of the shopping locations on excursions take US money or is it strictly Euros?

No unfortunately they will not be accepted in Europe, apart from Russia interestingly, but for the Med you will definitely need Euros. The good news is that the euro and dollar are worth a very similar amount so no need to worry about the currency conversions while out shopping.

Not all of Europe uses Euros either. You will need pounds sterling for Gibraltar, Turkish Lira in Turkey, Croatian Kuna in Croatia. Euros are the currency for Portugal, Spain, France, Italy and Greece though.

  7. I'm a teacher and have two children so always cruise with children in school holidays. I agree it is a fantastic holiday for children and have not encountered problems with other children. The kids clubs do a great job and we fortunately have never had a problem. Pre-school children could of course be on any cruise. Make sure you avoid Costa and MSC as children are free on those lines and so there are always a lot!

If it is a problem however, P&O have adult only ships.

  8. Brilliant video. We found it very helpful as this August will be our first cruising experience and so looking forward to it . Jo you should do this professionally . It was lovely to watch .

Thank you for your kind words. If only I could do it for a living!!

  9. What is a "pussyfoot"?

It's a refreshing drink with orange juice, pineapple juice, grapefruit juice and grenadine syrup.

Another good one is a Sea Breeze which is grapefruit and cranberry juice.

  10. I agree it seems to be all over the country, it's a nasty bug. I picked it up at school and it knocked me off my feet for two weeks, a course of antibiotics and approaching the end of week 3 and I am beginning to feel better.

Not nice to suffer on board ship, especially if it was a much anticipated trip, International cafe will do a soothing honey and lemon, and the mint tea is great.

I hope everyone is feeling better soon.

Sounds like you boarded while ill and infected the ship!! The cruise is 12 nights and you are heading back to Southampton, sounds like you were still feeling ill when boarding.

  11. I absolutely loved my Emerald deck "obstructed view" balcony cabin. Loved the quiet, the location near the aft stairs, and the fact that I could check to see if there were Promenade deck loungers available. I wouldn't have changed for a free upgrade or upsell.

That's good to hear as we have an "obstructed view" balcony on Emerald deck forward on Royal in August. What made it even better was that we got it for the inside price! Can't wait!!!

  12. Thanks for that .

This is a British Isles cruise. In June most children are still in school in UK ( maybe not in Scotland) ? so I don't expect there will be a lot onboard.

If our British Isles roll call is anything to go by you won't have many Brits on board so it will depend on when the American and Canadian school holidays are for the amount of children.

However, having said that we are often near lifts and have never had a problem. In fact, it is a great location! We are in E305 on Royal in August (a couple of doors down) and I'm not anticipating any problems.

The kids club is at the back of the ship so if you were near those stairs you might well hear them singing "Everywhere we go, people want to know, who we are, and where we come from ...." very loudly as they move around the ship!! The children are not allowed to use the lifts in club so they will always be on the stairs. That song is sweet the first time you hear it (if your children are singing it) but wears very thin, especially as the words later in the song continue with " we shout a little louder!" :o
