So I just got off the Conquest on Monday June 12th. When I boarded the cruise I noticed a sign in the terminal that said download the "mobile pass" app for Customs. So I DL the app and you scan your passport and those in your group. When its time to leave you open the app. Select who is on cruise with you, select your port, cruiseline, and terminal. Answer the four standard questions on the paper form. It then creates a QR code for each user. When you disembark look for the sign and/or ask security to direct you. I walked right past the zig zag of over 500 people and went right to the front, showed my passports and they scanned the QR codes for each person and said have a nice day. Not sure if this is available elsewhere or how long but I got looks as I walked by all these people waiting as the two customs agents handled the zig zag line and 1 agent handled the mobile pass line. Its free too. Enjoy the tip

The Guys line is always shorter coming from the buffet side versus the pool deck and you can have ice cream while you wait in line

Both cruises will be great. If you really want a treat you cant beat the NCL suite experience. Drinks on Carnival are more festive, NCL gives you a small clear solo cup . Food is subjective. Entertainment on NCL will more closely match RCL.

End of the day you should compromise and do both

You can also buy full face snorkel masks that are great for novices. Then you can use them at any beach plus if you do an excursion

If you want a nice suite do NCL, they come with Butler service 24/7 and you have a private cell phone. They make all your show reservations, have a private elevator to escort you off the ship on port days, bring you afternoon special snacks and more. Its pretty awesome

You can also order full bottles for your room. He may enjoy that

I am guessing that my questions may be answered somewhere in the 100's of other Cheers threads. No time to read through the many, many hours of searching.

 

1. If I am sitting near the pool, will the servers go to the Alchemy bar and get me a specialty drink or am I limited to just drinks from the Lido deck bar?

2. If I tip the server, does the bar tender get a piece of it? I would want the bartender to know that I had tipped so maybe down the road my drinks would be better.

You can always go with Fireball. Hard to beat Fireball on a cruise

It's worth it if you have a good time on your cruise. If you drink too much you may get ill, have a hangover, miss activities or meals you wanna enjoy. Just drink what you enjoy and try new stuff if you want to. It doesn't take but 5 or 6 drinks to be break even. Don't sweat it. Have fun
