  1. Question.. If you have a second, don't go out of your way, can you ask about the Tomahawk Ribeye in Cagneys? A friend of mine just got off the Breakaway this past Sunday the day you boarded, and it was in the menu and he ordered it. But apparently it's not on the menu for your sailing? Thanks! Loving the play by play review!!

  2. I'm diamond player for total rewards. Mostly play at Ballys in AC. Play a lot of craps, 3 card, bj, etc.. Never a big slot player at all. Have hit a few 1200-1500 jackpots in AC on dollar machines, but nothing that great. On my ncl cruises I stick to the same games for the most part, and rarely, if ever, play slots on board. My question is, how do the ship machines pay out compared to land based casinos? I always feel the ship machines would be extremely tight. I'm seriously considering hitting the slots a lot more than normal on my upcoming Breakaway cruise, but I'm looking for feedback. I APPRECIATE IT!

  3. your kidding right????

you are asking if you can break the rules... you can spin it any way you want but you asked

"Has anyone had any experiences with bringing a small quantity of booze onto a ship without trying to smuggle in various containers?

The answer is YES people have had experiences bringing a small quantity of booze on ship without trying to smuggle in various containers... its called smuggling the whole small bottle on ship...

and that is against the rules so YES you are asking how to break the rules.

If you are NOT asking to break the rules... then its really a simple answer.

WITHIN the rules there is NO way to bring a small quantity of booze onto a ship. That HAS to be your answer if your not trying to break the rules.

    So which is it?

A - I am trying to find a way to break the rules by bringing a small amount of alcohol on the ship

B - I am not trying to find a way to break the rules by bringing a small amount of alcohol on the ship and I realize that since there is no way to bring a small amount of alcohol on the ship without breaking the rules, I cant bring it.

GEEZE! I guess you never break any rules? Haven't you ever gone 5mph over the speed limit??? :p:p

  4. Not sure where you are entering Manhattan from Long Island, but I just looked at the road closure map for you, and it looks like if you stick to the west side hwy, you should be ok. The road closures seem to be more in the middle on Manhattan, and the east side.

edit - if you stick to the Henry Hudson Pkwy, that should take you right to the terminal with no closures.

  5. The UBP is only good if you get it as a package with the cabin.

Otherwise at $80+ a day it's not worth a hill of beans.

    Doesn't even include specialty coffee!

I agree! I should have been more clear. Ever since I started taking the UBP as a "free" perk, I haven't brought booze on board. If I had to pay the $80+ a day for the UBP, I would not stop my smugglin' ways ;)

  6. Rules are meant to be broken. With the UBP now, I haven't snuck on booze in a while, but I used to all the time. To the holier than thou crowd, I don't care what you think :D;p

Anyway, empty mouth wash bottles used to work like a charm. Remove the plastic seal with a razor blade, empty, wash, and fill with your booze of choice. Replace the plastic seal, and tape it back on. ALWAYS WORKED. And rum runners work great too. Have fun!

  7. So I recently realized that our ship will be arriving in Bermuda on the morning of "Bermuda Day" May 24th. Our original plans for the first day in port were to grab a cab or mini bus in the morning to Horseshoe Bay Beach, and spending the entire day there.. Would Bermuda Day screw up our plans at all? Traffic? Road closures? I'm not interested in seeing the parade, or watching a marathon.. just would like to do a nice beach day. Any input/advice/info would be appreciated! :D

  8. They aren't being held captive, if they are going to be miserable to us, the PAYING CUSTOMER, they shouldn't be working on a cruise ship. It's pretty simple. That being said, I believe the vast majority of NCL employees are friendly, but for the few that are not, they should look elsewhere for employment.

  9. you got that and if passengers take time to talk with the crew they will learn, most of the crew have been on NCL or whatever line for many years: I feel they work hard, are generally very pleasant, do put in long hours, but I can't say I feel sorry for them. If they were really unhappy they would not spend so many years with the company.

    Agree 100% My thoughts exactly.

  10. I guess before we complain maybe we should try working for a few dollars an hour, 7 days a week for up to 6 months without a day off. When we have completed those 6 months and we were able to be happy and vibrant for everyone of those 180 days....then we can complain.

LOL, they aren't slaves.. no one put a gun to their head and forced them to work on a cruise ship. They all knew what they were getting into when they DECIDED to work on a ship.

  11. Snorkel Park Beach isn't anything special at all. The only good thing about it, is that it's very close to where the cruise ships dock. Walking distance. Horseshoe Bay, IMO, is a must do. It's an amazing beach. I don't have any experience with the other places you mentioned. Have a great time!
