  1. Thanks to all for your input. One's perspective certainly changes according to where one lives! Since I am from New Orleans, I am nearly always cold elsewhere.
  2. Thank you! It sounds similar to our January weather here in New Orleans. I am sure I will enjoy the city; the last time I visited San Diego I was 11 years old and it was high summer.
  3. Thanks for the reply. However, while Google is helpful, it is not the same as 1st hand impressions of someone who lives in the area.
  4. What kind of weather can I expect in early January in San Diego?
  5. I have the same problem with Chrome and Edge ie I can book an excursion on Edge but must switch to Chrome to print it. Also, which way one logs in or which link one uses brings up a different version of the same page, some of which are more functional than others ie for researching shore excursions, some page versions only allow one to advance itinerary by the day, others allow advancing by the week. Why can't HAL ever get this right???
  6. I think it is creepy. The only time this has happened to me was on the Koningsdam; however, he was also so smarmy and overly familiar, that as a solo traveler, I would not enter the cabin if he were there. Yes, I did mention him on the survey, but not in a flattering manner!
  7. Just another example that HAL's left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing. Those of us on the GAUS/NZ received an email exhorting us to book shorex before they sold out; however, no shorex beyond Hawaii have posted yet, and the ShoreEx department has no idea when they will be (I called). Those aboard the 2023 GWV often reported receiving contradictory advisories, info, instructions, etc. IT and communications have never been a HAL strong point, but this becomes ludicrous.
  8. Oh, well. Same info that I received. Thanks. At least we know that it is happening.
  9. Does anyone have the itinerary for the 4 Nov 2024 Legendary Med on the Volendam?
  10. Thank you so much. That is what I needed to know.
  11. How early may one safely book a return flight from San Diego?
  12. When the world shut down in March 2020, I was on the 2020GWV, a "hosted" sailing. As 1200 passengers attempted to book flights home from Australia in unprecedented circumstances, the hosts for a large consortium worked tirelessly to make sure that every one of their booked passengers (I was not one of them) made it home. Their efforts impressed me enough that I booked my next GV with one of the represented host consortiums.
  13. The most interesting part of this article is the hint of something new in the Med, Dare we hope for something akin to a Grand Ned, or even an Atlantic Adventurer???
  14. It was called the Atlantic Adventurer, a truly wonderful sailing, my second HAL cruise. I was hooked for life, and I would do it again in a heartbeat!
  15. ME!!! I have been agitating for another Grand Med for years.
  16. Thanks, all. Unfortunately, I am looking at the possibility that walking may not be an option due to mobility challenges.
  17. What hotels are offered by HAL for pre-cruise stays in San Diego? Thanks for any info.
  18. Thank you!!! This is most helpful, and certainly alleviates many packing decisions.
  19. Scrapnana: I believe that I read somewhere that on the GA there will be only one formal night a month and one dressy night per week. Can you confirm this? Are the formal and dressy nights themed? Although I realize that much may change in a year, I am booked on the GAUS/NZ in 2024 and the info would be useful for planning purposes. Thanks.
  20. I had a similar experience. However, I believe that according to the CDC, licensed pharmacists can write and fill a prescription for Paxlovid upon attestation that it is needed, no proffered negative test needed. There are a few hurdles to jump, none insurmountable if one has access to one's medical records online. The bad news is that relatively few pharmacies in my area participate in the program.
  21. However, if you get a definitive answer, those of us on the 2023 GWV would appreciate you posting it here.
  22. Apparently several besides me are interested in the answer to this question. How do we get an answer?
