  1. Is there a section reserved for suites in the theater?

On Royal Caribbean there is one that is held until about 15 minutes before showtime then they open the section to everyone.

    Does Celebrity do something similar?

    Thank you

Yes there is and as mentioned space is released about 15 minutes before showtime. We head towards this area, as we try to dine about 7PM, as the possibility of seating space is best available.

  2. I will be traveling to the following islands next month:

    Antigua

    Martinique

    St. Kitts

    St. Lucia

    St. Thomas.

I'm in the market for a quality pearl necklace. Wondering if anyone can recommend a store on any of these islands where I might be able to purchase good quality at a good price, or would I be better off purchasing pearls in the US?

    Thank you in advance!

St. Thomas would be my recommendation. I am a Pearl lover and have originals from Japan (my dad was in the Air Force and brought them home from Kyoto). I have bought Black Pearls in St. Thomas. Be sure to shop at home in USA first so you know what quality, size and origination is so you can compare more than cost. Try Beverly's in downtown (my name so it's easy to remember but there is no affiliation) and Trident. Good Luck and happy shopping.

  3. Thanks for the quick reply.

This is our first cruise, so we're on a bit of a learning curve, so this is helpful.

    Thanks again.

(N.B. We're coming down to Bristol next week to visit our daughter who's at the Uni there. Small world :))

Love these lists. As an avid CC member and Celebrity cruiser, I thank you for posting them. I've printed them out for our upcoming cruise.

I have found the brands of alcohol on a classic package acceptable for me. I do ask for the brand example: Mai Tai with Capt. Morgan. Martini's are included but there is an up-charge at the Martini bar of $3 + tip. It works for me once in a while. Hubby likes Maker's Mark Manhattans which he will pay the $1 extra also Stella Artois beer $1 extra on our last voyage in Sept.

As others have said, try your classic package for a day or two before upgrading. One up to Three dollars is less than $11 a day depending on your amount of alcoholic consumption. Mini bar is not included.

  4. Hi there!

We will be driving to Fort Lauderdale from Orlando and have two cars reserved...one is with Avis and has a drop off at the Hyatt Pier 66. The other is with Budget and the drop off is the 17th St Causeway location.

Can't remember which one is easier to get to the port via cab after we drop car off? We are five adults with lots of luggage. Should one of us drop the others at the port then return car?

One location better than the other?

Thanks so much for any input!

The Budget office near the former Bimini Boatyard is horrible for pick up of a Budget rental but should be OK for drop off. It is just a small store front in a strip mall. Nothing like going to a hotel or stand alone location. There was only one man taking returns. I would use this location to drop but bring your family and luggage to the port first. Just don't forget your Cruise Ship documents, so your family can do the check in. Hopefully, a taxi will come to drop others and can get you back to the terminal.

  5. Hello all,

We will be on the Equinox in March and one of the ports of call is Phillipsburg, St. Martin. We've been there before but only walked around the boardwalk. We are interested in visiting the French side of the island this time around, I think...not sure. But we do have some leftover Euros to spend so was thinking about the French side...

What have you done in St. Martin? What should be avoided? Have you ever rented bicycles to tour around the island?

Thanks in advance for tips and suggestions.

    Christina

Don't think you were being insensitive at all. Out of site out of mind, that's all. Since EQ started back at Phillipsburg already, I think you are good to go. I would not plan on peddled bikes on St. Maarten, because it is very hilly; mountainous heading to Dawn or Orient beach. Roads were not affected by damage, thank goodness, but buildings and marine equipment were destroyed. Bernard's is a great tour provider and up and running. They give you plenty of time for photo opportunities, some beach time and a little time at Maho bay for a possible airplane landing photo op. Keep in mind, I mentioned some time. Many international flights (large planes) have been cancelled since Hurricane Irma and Maria occurred as the hotels are still under construction. If you don't like organized tours (better than ship tours), just hire a taxi guide. Although I did read even those are a lot less available. Many folks had to leave the island for employment elsewhere.

  6. Wow - I think I found my favorite place on our upcoming Refection sailing. I would like to know what specialty coffee's and hot toddy's are included in the classic drink package? Or ... maybe it would be better to ask what is not included?

    Tx - BZ

I love Cafe al Bacio and enjoy my Irish Coffee with Jameson's (Bailey's is on the premium package). I know Tia Maria, Kahula, and other specialty coffee offers are on the menu. I've found the seating area to always be busy and a few linger long after there special treat is finished. Can't wait to board.

  7. We sail on 2 March aboard Reflection and we were just notified that the catamaran sail we booked has been cancelled. I'm curious if anyone has experienced this?

Was this a ship tour or private vendor? If ship, it probably means ship is not going to St Maarten. There are two web sites that have the Reflection in St. Kitts & St. Thomas on the days scheduled for both trips in March.

  8. Hello ElmaLee - I have done exactly what you describe however I cannot find on my cruise planner for dining where to select table size. Do not see a choice for "shared or not", can you please point me in the right direction?

    Thank you ... BZ

You log into your cruise planner. Find the icon for Specialty Dining, then Select Dining. Pick the nights, time (which show as available) and select the table size. If you choose Large, you will be seated with others and share the table. I do not believe the word "shared" shows up. I have booked the dining as we are with traveling friends. We have tried to have our individual TA's link our reservations, which isn't always easy on the Celebrity web site. Shortly after boarding, we will check with the maitre d' station to verify all of our reservations to be sure we are OK. We will also confirm our specialty dining requests as we all bought a dining package.

  9. Chic nights I referred to were for 10 night itinerary.

CD Maarten - he was just ok IMO. I've done a lot of cruises, Alejandro just can't be beat. We were spoiled with him on the Equinox two years ago.

Activities at pool were really zero and it wasn't due to weather. We had good weather, just rain one afternoon for a short period on a sea day. The first two sea days were really nice and not even the band played outside. Just a different experience from what we've had in the past. Did not disappoint our vacation however, as we make our vacation our own and never rely on venues or itineraries!

Thanks for your follow through. On social media, Ade Roberts posted pictures of the lawn area with the new screen for Movies under the Stars that included padded mats for lounging. Problem appears to be these are on the floor and those of us with back issues won't be using them or getting UP! Celebrity needs to re-think this with some portable light chairs around the edges of the area, so as not to block site lines of those who are lying down on the grass or those in alcoves. I understand if you have rented an Alcove it is good to use up until 9 PM.

  10. I have read so much about the drink packages, I've confused myself! So bottles of water included in which package? Difference between classic and nonalcoholic package?

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Classic Adult Alcoholic Package: Small bottles on unknown name water - one at a time with each card. (They used to give litre bottles but no more.) Also specialty coffees & teas at Cafe al Bacio, soda (usually by the glass), wines & beers limited varieties and well or some brand name alcoholic beverages and liquors plus fruit juice like fresh squeezed OJ, Cranberry juice, etc. that you can't get without a package.

Non-alchololic - obviously for the non-adult beverage drinker. Mainly soda's and coffees at much lower pricing.

Premium; all of the above with higher brand name bottled water including Perrier. Top brand name liquors and a larger and better selection of wines and beers.

If you have a free Classic adult beverage package and you wish to buy a drink that is not offered on the package, you now can just pay the difference. Example of a Cosmo at the Martini Bar is $3 more plus tip at the time of service. With a package, you don't usually have sign a slip any more. Gratuity is already added.

  11. Let's see if I can post a copy of a picture taken this week by Ade Roberts who is on the Reflection this week. Thanks Ade.

Nope. Well go to the social media site that Mark Z owns and find Celebrity Reflection. Scroll down and you will see this picture just posted recently. It shows the mats that one would be sitting upon, or not in the case of us who have bad backs or are unable to get up again!

  12. Post cruise supper--a friend said southport raw bar; thoughts or other suggestions (staying at Embassy suites 17th st)

Kelly's is close by on the side street across the street from Embassy. Definitely walk able behind the strip mall. Small but good New England style seafood. You cal also walk further down 17th to the Boatyard but more upscale. You really don't need to take a car to either of these.

  13. Yes and NO; sorry but It does offer a special Cruise Critic rate (but I've lost the link) for discounted hotel overnight rate, free parking in their enclosed gated garage for the length of stay, plus half price parking while you are on the cruise (It was $11 per day for us in September) and one-way shuttle bus transfer to the port. It was about a $20 taxi fare for the return trip. Our car was safe and sound during Hurricane Irma. I just had our hard drive crash so am trying to retrieve a few of the links I treasured. If I get it as you must book with the link not available by phone, I will certainly share it. This hotel is not cheap. In Sept. we paid $250 but this did include one free drink each at happy hour and breakfast.

Found it. You must book on-line. http://www.hamptoninnmiamibrickell.com/landing/landing/lp4.php

Good Luck. Also, free People Mover is just a short block away.

  14. Does the Hampton inn brickell offer park & cruise?

  15. Simon,

We have been through several shutdowns in the past 30 years or so. It doesn't impact any of the things you mentioned, except perhaps trash collection in DC.

I am a retired Federal Employee and was on furlough two or three times, but always got paid after it ended.

Thanks Simon. My young granddaughter works for TSA and is deemed "essential personnel". She has her own apartment, student loans as a recent college grad and a new car payment plus all the expenses that goes with Independence. She can't make it long without a paycheck. Good to know she'll get paid eventually.

  16. Hi,

Classic includes beers up to $9 and premium includes beers up to $13. I don't know the exact price for Stella or Peroni but they will be gt $9 but lt $13.

    Jim

In Sept. on EQ, it was $1 additional for Stella Artois. I believe beer is up to $6 on a classic package. A Cosmo at Martini bar was $3 extra plus tip on both examples.
