Bring a roll of duct tape to secure the power cord down, to spare you from tripping.

Since you have 10k posts I assume you cruised frequently before Covid. You might look into travel models. There is one that is USB powered. A USB power port is on the nightstand on Princess ships. It also uses an HME instead of free water. We're not supposed to mention brand names here. Very small. At around five bills worth considering if you travel a lot.

Thank you to everyone for your input. It's been a while since we cruised with Princess.  I can't see us packing the industrial type power cord, but I do have the power adapters which I'll bring in case we can find that 220Volt power source.  Yes, we do cruise a lot (right up to March 14 of 2020) but with another cruise line, so I'm used to what they have supplied

Excuse my ignorance. What does HME stand for?

  2. Especially on the Enchanted, is there a plug for a CPAP under or near the bed?  Is there a form to request CPAP supplies to operate our machine like Distilled Water and an extension cord if needed?  I have not been successful finding a Special Needs form.

I know it's on the wrong side, but is this a "good" place to stay for an October 2021 cruise???   Got what I think is a decent price ($250 per night), so not sure it's a nice place to stay??.   If you hate it, what would you suggest??  We embark on Sunday, so I was thinking that we would fly in on Friday, see Boston on Saturday.   I know they shuttle from the airport, but any idea how we'd get to the cruise terminal on Sunday???

    Thanks

    Bill

Bill, I just wrote to you on your other thread. To answer your how to get to the pier question, rely on a hotel concierge to hail a taxi, or call an Uber. Last time staying in town 10/2019, it was very hard getting a taxi back to the airport from the inner city. I'm not an Uber user, but I will be this time if we end up sailing.  Keep checking the Hilton Faneuil Hall (we are Hilton Honors).

I have stayed at the Hyatt at the airport and it's very nice but not near anything for touring or dining.

Looking at seaport area. anyone stayed in this area? looks like they are opening a new hampton inn there soon. think it is close to the port.

I formerly lived in New England, was a TA, and often was in at Black Falcon (Ray Flynn) Pier.  Originally, I was booked at the brand new yet to be opened Hampton Inn Seaport.  It appears to be very close to the terminal building.  However, knowing the area, it may be a challenge to walk to the entry door from the hotel. A quick taxi or Uber ride makes more sense.  We switched our reservation to the Hilton at Faneuil Hall (with 8 friends) so we would have time and place to socialize and dine the evening before sailing.  Other hotels in that area are the Bostonian, Omni Plaza, Marriott Waterfront, etc.

  5. There is a link to the document you refer to on this site.

This is the up to date Health Panel's latest rulings and changes for re-instating cruising.  This was released to agents today and will effect all cruise lines, ports and disembarkation locations.  Of course, any of it is subject to change and the height of the Covid 19 virus in the part of the world where you may be living or visiting.

Page 54 speaks of excursions and plans.

Thanks for this.   A little disappointed about the swan boats!!

We had a wedding in downtown Boston early in October last year and I too was very disappointed we could not enjoy this experience.

I've stayed at the Hyatt Boston airport hotel and faced no issues compared to the Hilton which has paper thin walls.  I'm hoping the Hilton Faneuil Hall on Broad St. is where I would like to stay but I am not paying $500 a night. Average hotel pricing in October should be about $250. Also taxi's are not as easy to hail these days, so you may wish to install Uber or Lyft ap on your phone.  I think we will have to do that before August. 2021.

If you find something, let us know so we can confirm it is in a good area.  They advertise many hotels as Boston, when they are up to 20 miles out of the city.

Yes thanks.    Still to far out for Hotwire, but will keep checking.   Had tried several other hotels, those you suggested included, and got nothing more then no availability.

Yes keep checking.  I'm from the NE area but have moved South.  I'm booked to sail August 29, 2021 and hotels are just starting to pop up for booking.  Just found the Hyatt Boston Harbor which is close to the water taxi or commuting into the tourist areas.  I always recommend the HOHO Trolley for first time visitors (skip Cheers as it is a tourist trap).  Bring warm jacket as it does get cool between the tall high rise buildings. The Museum with Planetarium used to be great. A walk through the Boston Common and the Public Garden are nice but the swan boats will be put away by then.  Don't miss strolling through the North End and Faneuil Hall- lots of great food.

    Have a great cruise.

Have they changed the dates for final payment or is it still about 3 months ahead.  I seen mentioned that some are due 2 months

ahead now.  Our cruise is Nov. 7 and final is still the end of next week, sure would like a little extra time.

Princess just announced more Cancellations; call your TA and check to see if yours was cancelled before paying.

  9. I agree, Hyatt Place off 17th (on 10th) is usually great for the money. As we drive down, we usually need a parking package and travel to and from the port. I have used their Parking and paid for their shuttle driver. Parking for us at Park n Go, has worked.  I just add in the parking fee.

  10. We like the Embassy Suites, 17th St. but lately their pricing has been high but we do travel in Prime season.  We have also stayed at the Hyatt Place, right around the corner, which is fine.  Love the close proximity for eating and shopping if necessary.  You can even go to Publix and make a to go salad from their salad bar.

We stayed at the Radisson as it had a Parking Package which included shuttle to the port.  Room was clean, hotel was nice with a lovely Tropical Pool area.  Only disappointment was no restaurant.  For lunch we went walked right next door to this little Greek restaurant.  Very clean with wonderful Mediterranean food.  I am sure there are other small restaurants nearby.  You do need to sign up for the shuttle which starts taking people over to the port pretty early like 10 AM, so it wouldn't be long before you would be on board and getting a bite to eat.

  12. We are in our 70's and I have diabetes and am subject to Asthma and Bronchitis.  We have two cruises booked late Jan. 2021 and late August 2021.  Cruise lines know your age as it is entered on your booking (for any senior discounts).  I am not going to fuss about this new restriction now as who knows what the future brings.  I'll cancel if need by just before final payment is due the end of October.

    March 5 - DAY 5 - Cartagena

I sent an email to Dora yesterday and heard back from her. Cruise ship season ended there on March 11, less than a week after we were there. It usually goes until the end of May. There are currently at least 14 cases there now and it may have been introduced from a woman on a British cruise ship. But on a more positive note they "still have toilet paper". 😂

While we were back in our room, we checked in with family and Joanne & Dennis (our first week dog care people). The dogs were looking good and didn't miss us at all. Family was all well and I don't think anyone was getting too concerned at this point. I didn't check the news. A vacation away is usually a vacation from the news as well.

    I like boats.

After catching up on messages and mail, we went back up on Deck 15 looking over the pool and caught up with out new Peterborough friends, Angus & Lorie. I had no trouble remembering Angus's name. My grandfather was Angus and so is my grand dog. 😎 I didn't usually bother with my camera when we sat out on deck, but I brought it with me to catch the sail away.

Another tour boat returning. It was 2:30. Sail away at 4. I can't remember if the other ship in port sailed out behind us that day or not.

Can you tell that it was hot? I went into the Solarium pool. Much less crowded. And maybe no one peed in it.

Much quieter up on Deck 15, where we liked to sit, under the awnings, not out in the sun. This afternoon, there were very few people sitting out in the direct sun. It was incredibly hot & humid. I don't think I've even felt it like that in the summer in Ontario. Just kidding, it doesn't happen, though we are getting more and more days over 30 in the summer.

We must have all been back on board. On the road again at 3:45pm.

Good bye to Colombia! We would soon be heading east and north. On our way to the ABC islands.

    _DSC4712

    OK. This was weird.

Maris, thanks for posting all of your Colombia photos and review.  We loved Dora when we took her tour many years ago.  We just took a taxi downtown and it was so crowded it was unbearable.  Pushing the Rollator and trying to "watch my step" was all I had to do.  We were fortunate that we got to climb the fort, but it was very rough even then.  Glad I got to do it then as walking is limited now.  The Barracks had great shopping stores. Loved your outside and street view shots.  I really could not appreciate the historic beauty of Old Downtown this visit. I liked walking through the little aviary at the port, then I caught the shuttle bus back to the ship. Your pictures with the flamingo and birds were beautiful.

Maris & Ken. Thanks so much for taking the time & talent to do this review!  Our first time on Reflection, loved The Porch! We were on the MardiGras cruise prior this & on the 2 Mar cruise. Here’s my photos from Colombia & The Porch. I drool thinking about that PilPilshrimp!  We are at home enjoying your photos   Les & Melody

I need to grab my notes, but then the dogs will wake up and want their breakfast followed by coffee and cookies with us while watching the increasingly horrifying news. So back to this later. It looks like we are going to have a beautiful sunny day here in Ontario. I will get started on my report today. After our 2018 cruise I did a report but had very few notes. I think I did better this time.

    Until Later

    Maris

Glad you arrived home safely and have decided to self quarantine.  It was a pleasure to meet you once again. I layed low much of the cruise.  I definitely didn't get my monies worth out of the Drink package, but that's OK.  With a limited appetite, I just didn't feel like my usual Irish Coffee each afternoon.  I never even got my free Gelato.  So far I'm loving your photo story especially since I didn't get off the ship in many places.  You went the southern route in Bonaire from the picture of the wind sails at Sorobon.  We did the Northern and it was bumpy and boring.  Only local focal point was the 1000 steps, which I certainly had no intention of walking.  Rincon was a disappointment as just a church and local houses.

With this virus, I sure hope I get to go to my GI doctors appointment. The family has had 2 calls today rescheduling appointments.  Keep up the good work.

Maybe our paths will cross someday on another cruise.

Thanks so much.  We are on the Reflection.  I think my old phone had it but I forgot how to get it.

Cruisechuck hit it out of the park.    Yes you can dine in MDR.

Unless they change things you can also ask for a copy of the MDR menu in Blu and order off of it.  In addition to anytime items mentioned they also have a Children's menu with a 4 ounce Filet (you can ask for 2), Chicken Fingers, Mac and Cheese etc.   Sometimes nice if not really hungry and you want something different.

In addition to seeing the menu daily at the entrance you can download the Celebrity App and see the menu for the entire cruise.   Once in awhile it has an error but usually pretty reliable on the current cruise.

Jim_Lane how do I down load the celebrity App on my new Iphone? I'm technically challenged.  We leave home on the 29th.

I did see those large mirror murals. Cool optical illusions. It did not dawn on me that the theme for much of the artwork was reflections but thinking back, I realize that you’re right. Now I want to go back and look again. The Reflection is probably on her way to Europe by now. Hoping to be back on her in 2020 & I’ll make sure I make a closer study of all the art work.

    Thanks for pointing that out.

    Maris

Maris we will both have to take a good look at these walls for the Reflection motif.  We are in Blu plus the Tuscan Grille is down that way too.

If your choice was between Uniworld and AMA it would be really hard to make the "wrong" choice as both consistently receive excellent reviews. Please, stop worrying. No cruise (or holiday, for that matter) is perfect but our four on Uniworld have come very close. We have friends who equally love AMA.

The cruise booklet should be available for download in the "already booked" section of the Uniworld website, as Ritabob has mentioned. Go have a look; it will answer most of your questions.

Prague is great but because it is so great, it's crowded. We went on our own for 3 days, 2 years ago. I did not blog about the trip but I have some pictures in SmugMug here: https://jpalbny.smugmug.com/Europe-201705/ The pictures are from the first few days (the rest of that trip is elsewhere).

If you have any specific questions about Prague, ask away, though it may be best to start a new thread because this one isn't about Prague and you may not get many replies here.

Thanks for sharing your photo blog and especially for putting titles of each shot.  You've made me more anxious to book a river cruise including a few days in Prague.

What time of year did you cruise and visit Prague?  I noted some folks where wearing light Winter jackets.  Living in the South near the beach now, I rarely wear a heavy jacket but luckily still have those options in the closet.  TIA

I have "hovered" lots on this Roll Call and Discussion but am now in need of advice and hope one of you experts could help us.  We split out time between Sarasota and West Mersea (most south easterly inhabited island in the UK) and after nursing my Mum for the past three years we are now able to travel and are joining you all on Silhouette on Oct 24th.  .The only other time we have disembarked  in Fort Lauderdale was from a Princess cruise and they had a transfer service to and from Sarasota, apparently Celebrity do  not have such a service.  Can anyone help me regarding getting a rental car (or give any other suggestions for transportation to Sarasota). We dock in FLL at 0500 and should be off the ship by 0900.  I understand there will be shuttles available to take passengers to the rental car offices but surely this will take quite a while.  I've spent most of today trying to get through to car rental company with absolutely no luck.  Following on from this question, does anyone know of any hotels in the area where one could access a room in the morning or do we have to occupy ourselves until the 2 or 3pm check in?

    Many thanks

On a Sunday many offices are on a limited staffing; only open in the morning when ships arrive.  I suggest calling tomorrow, Monday.  First go to the general Celebrity forum and search Rental Cars for Ft. Lauderdale.  Don't use Budget, as their location is very understaffed and slow.  2nd. go to your Roll Call Silhouette October 24, 2019 to register and ask questions there as well. No need to book a hotel for just a half day.  National/Alamo are both off site and very close to the airport which is close to the port. As soon as you disembark, call the agency for your rental and they will make sure a bus swings by the terminal.
