OK, dumb question. What's the difference between Casual Meals (the two meals included in the Plus package) and Specialty Dining? I see these two mentioned on different threads? Does it depend on the restaurant, or just a different way to name it?

Thanks for that info. It's only the two of us, so tracking someone down on the ship isn't necessary. I also get it that the Medallion is a great "marketing" tool for Princess, so they can send you more targeted "marketing" of what they know you "like", based on where you go on the ship. Personally, I don't really need them telling me that. Just wondering if this doodad is really needed?

I've seen a lot written about the MDRs and the SD restaurants, but I'm wondering about the other options. We are going soon on the Carribbean Princess, and wondering about the Marketplace for meals. We're simple eaters, and many times on past cruises, we might eat once in the MDR, but go to the buffet for the majority of meals. We like to eat and get it over with, then go out and play. Sitting for hours during dinner doesn't really interest us. So, what have people experienced with the buffet. On the CP, I think it's called the Marketplace. How has the food been there? I know they also have the pizzeria and the grill as other options. Sometimes just a burger and a beer works fine for us.... LOL... Last question, regarding beverages, we're probably going to go with the Plus package, so this question might be moot. But what actual beverages are available with the standard package? On other cruises we've been on (not Princess), there was coffee, ice tea, apple juice and I think lemonaid. Are any of these part of the standard package? Just wondering... I know soda and alcohol is always extra.

That's a question I actually have. Are the Medallions really needed. I see they unlock the door and are used to swipe for onboard purchases, but are they a necessity, or just a gimmick, so Princess can track our every move? We aren't interested in being found for a drink or food delivery, I'm fine with just walking up and getting it directly. Not really interested in Princess knowing which bathroom I use, or how long I stand listening to a band, or which chair I'm sitting in. I'm not that important... LOL.. All our previous cruises I used the standard swipe card. Is that still an option, or is the tracking Medallion the only choice?

We are looking to visit Good Hope on our upcoming cruise. Our cruise line only offers limited choices. So, I was going to book directly with them, but it would require a cab ride from the Falmouth port (since Chukka won't work directly with cruise ship patrons). Two questions, does anyone know an approximate taxi fare from the port to Good Hope? It looks like about a 6 mile ride. And those of you who have been there, did you remember seeing taxis picking up people at G.H. and bringing them back? I would hate to get there but then had to walk back to port...
