  1. There's always the Search bar at the top of the page to find those answers.
  2. And that's the biggest issue. People jumping to conclusions without all the details and facts.
  3. Thanks to both of you. That's what I thought, if we want to go to the MDR, we just wait a little, instead of booking a time in advance, then cancelling if plans change.
  4. Did you try logging in on a computer, and try to order your medallions there? That would probably be the easiest way.
  5. Quick question, do we actually have to book a spot, and pick a time in the MDR pre-cruise? Or. can we just free-float, and do a walk-on if we want to go in the MDR that day, versus the buffet, casual dining, etc?
  6. Yeah, my kids are in the loop in case of an emergency, and hopefully can handle it, unless that emergency is with them. There's still the possibility that I need to be in the conversation too regarding the house or a dog emergency. I've seen the stories about the cellular data racking up costs, but if I understand it correctly, if I turn the data portion off (so apps don't update that way), I'll only be charged by the minute for calls. If that's the way it works, I'm fine with that.
  7. I checked the laptop transformer, and it actually is rated up to inputs of 240 volt. That's a surprise, didn't think they would have that tolerance. Learned something new every day...
  8. As discussed in other threads, WiFi Calling is the way to go, but unfortunately, my phone doesn't have that feature. What's App has been suggested, but I can't make a national company adopt that to contact me. So, it seems the ship's cellular network is my only option to stay "connected".
  9. I've heard this, but what's the definition of "huge"? That can vary between people. I haven't been able to find actual examples of the increased billing amounts people have encountered.
  10. I don't use a CPAP, so it's not that. It's for normal 120 volt items like my laptop, tablet or phone. I see that some of the transformers on cell phone chargers have a rating up to 240 volt, so apparently they are OK. Just not looking to fry my laptop, so if I convert the 2 pin wall outlet to 120 volt, it's better to be safe then sorry.
  11. Question, is that 2 pin outlet on the wall in the ship 220 volt? I'm assuming it is. And that adapter you posted just changes the 2 pin to a normal US style outlet, correct? It doesn't convert the 220 volt to 120 volt, does it? I'm just trying to confirm that the 2 pin wall outlet on the ships is actually 220 volt, so I know which voltage converter to order, since I need a 120 volt output, not the 220 volt from the 2 pin.
  12. But, but, but... we wouldn't be able to post, non-stop, about the Blue lane or the Green lane.
  13. I'm definitely doing that with a family member, but I still want notification, so I can look in with my camera system to see if it's a false alarm or what's going on. And, if need be, I can communicate directly with them on the situation. Waiting until we get to the next island to use the cell network isn't an option.
  14. State Department upgrades travel warning for Jamaica to Level 3. ..."Country Summary: Violent crimes, such as home invasions, armed robberies, sexual assaults, and homicides, are common. Sexual assaults occur frequently, including at all-inclusive resorts." https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/traveladvisories/traveladvisories/jamaica-travel-advisory.html
  15. Most people in the US know the security monitoring companies are "national". Maybe the ones in Canada are a guy working out of his closet. I'm sure the multi-million dollar monitoring companies in the US will just change up all their software and procedures, if I just asked "nicely".
  16. So, you think a national security monitoring company will change their procedures, and use What's Ap to contact me in an emergency? That would be nice.
  17. Thanks. I've seen What's App mentioned, but the issue I might have is receiving incoming calls from my security monitoring company or incoming calls from the dog sitter. I'm not sure I can force them to use that App. I will have the Internet plan while on board. I'm assuming my only option is Cellular at Sea.
  18. OK, but what can you do if your phone is not able to use WiFi calling. I'm on Verizon and have a unlocked phone, and Verizon tried to turn on WiFi calling, but it didn't work. They claim some unlocked phones (I have a Motorola) won't be able to do WiFi calling, even on their network. So, what would my other options be to be able to call home while onboard?
  19. Talk about a major thread drift. Maybe someone should start a separate WINE thread.
  20. A little bit of a thread drift, but wondering if anyone has experienced Cellular at Sea for calls back to the mainland. My Android phone is older, and doesn't have WiFi calling, so I believe my only option to receive calls from the US would be over regular cellular. Anyone use Cellular at Sea, and if so, was it costly?
  21. Sorry Captain. As a Newbie, I'll try to do better next time.
  22. That's interesting. When I pulled up the actual dining choices on the ship detail page for the Caribbean Princess, it doesn't list any of them. It shows just Complimentary Dining and SD dining, no Casual Dining like in that list you attached.. I even looked at the different deck plans of the ship, and didn't see them. It has Vines only listed for the wines only, under SD, but not food. What is a "popup" dining?
  23. Thanks for that. I was confused, but after some digging, figured out that there were a few casual places and a few specialty places on some ships. Although, we are going on the Caribbean Princess in a few months, and looking at the details of the ship and deck plans, there doesn't seem to be any casual dining restaurants on that ship, just the specialty ones. We were going to take the Plus package (which includes two nights of casual meals), but if the ship doesn't have any casual restaurants, we don't get that extra perk of the Plus package. So then what...
