It would just be good if Princess would make the decision and let people know what to do with their cards, if they are going to honour them, let us know, I have a few cards, 4 of us traveled and we all had one, each has lots of unused punches, if I knew I could not use them at all after the new year, and I cruise this month, rather than waste them I would give them to someone to use. At least someone would be happy, there again if we can use them I would keep them. So Princess be decisive and let us know the rules now!!!!
You can definitely use the punches on different cruises. It's only the brewed coffee that is restricted to the sailing you bought your card on going forward.

Can't speak for the others, but HAL uses only ground coffee, Beukenhorst.
It's quite good.
I suspect Celebrity, too. Their coffee was excellent.
I guess tastes differ...there's a thread on Celebrity board right now asking "Why is the coffee so bad on Celebrity"
-
Coral Sanctuary is pretty awesome, don't think you'll be disappointed.
-
I understand the OP's point and think it's an unfair policy.
Celebrity and Royal C. I believe are the only cruise lines that charge you for the entire gratuities at final payment if you choose the select or anytime dining option. I don't believe even NCL does that. I think they just want the extra $$$ in their pockets! What happens if you cannot cruise at the last minute? You have lost the cost of the cruise and the prepaid gratuities? Has anyone had this happen? I wonder if travel insurance would consider the prepaid gratuities
as part of the cruise fare. I think this is kind of unfair. If they really just wanted to make sure you paid your gratuities with select dining, why not just charge your a/c everyday WITHOUT the option of adjusting it? wouldn't that solve the problem
Completely agree. All other lines have open dining and are able to handle the tips the same way traditional dining is done...daily. No idea why Celebrity and RCL are incompetent to dish out the tips unless they get them in advance

What they serve is a stretch from Champagne. It's a very mediocre Sparkling Wine, but it is a nice gesture.

hi there,
just about to book and see the price has now increased.
http://www.celebritycruises.co.uk/before-your-cruise/beverage-packages.aspx
what are the rough prices of various drinks if bought seperately?
thanks
I think that price includes the 15% tip already, so it's the same as the US site
-
We loved the drink package too. Very disappointed that our upcoming cruise with Princess doesn't offer them. So convenient and really liked that we could pay for it well before our trip :)
You could just send yourself $1,000 OBC before you board, same thing :)
-
What is the price for the premium drink package? Princess which I cruise regularly doesn't have this. I'm thinking of a cruise on Celebrity. It does seem like Celebrity drink prices are a bit higher than Princess. Anyone cruise both lines that might confirm this? On Princess I can get most any kind of martini or mixed drink for $7.75 which includes tip.
Also, if you buy the premium drink package does that mean unlimited drinks that fall within the category for the whole cruise?
Thanks for your input.
Michelle
I believe the premium is $55 pp pd + 15% tip

The OP listed her coffee and Bailey's as costing $10 so it's a "Premium" drink that is more than $8. I was wondering if it would be possible to get it through the Classic package by ordering the two ingredients separately (coffee and liqueur) since individually they would cost less than $8 each.
I thought it said a shot and 1/2..so a single shot might be $8
-
Question for the OP, is this what you would normally drink on a cruise, or did you just go all out because you had the drink package?
I know if I put my mind to it, I could certainly make any drink package pay off but that's not my normal routine on a cruise and that's what I've been comparing the drink package prices to. I buy what I want to drink when I want to drink it with no real concern for cost and it's far below the package cost per day.
-
That may be a deal for you considering the quantity consumed, but DW and I normally spend about $400-$600 on a 10-14 day cruise. We are mainly beer and wine drinkers and happy with $30 bottles of wine.
At $55per day per two = $110 per day for a 14 day cruise = $1540 for the cruise!
Don't forget the gratuity, it's actually $62 a day PP
-
I thought that both people staying in the same cabin have to buy the drink package. Not so?
I believe that's Royal Caribbean's rule, not Celebrity's.
-
Ok, you did a much better job making this point than I did...thanks:D
Yeah, hot sauce was a stretch :p
-
Because it is our understanding that they make a commission on the products they sell. Therefore it is uncomfortable for some of us to say no because we feel that we are disappointing them.
If someone in the dining room asks if I want hot sauce, he does not receive any additional money if I say yes so it does not make a difference to him one way or another.
Same scenario though... What would you say to the sommelier if he came around to sell you a $120 bottle of wine that you didn't really want? Never feel guilty for saying no.
-
Perhaps...not all Code Red's are created equal. your experience was probably different than ours. Just saying. :p
It was exactly as you're describing it. There's absolutely no use in getting so worked up that it overshadows your cruise... be the leaf.. go with the flow, it's a lot less stressful ;). I did a review of my cruise and Noro didn't even enter into I have a feeling it would take centre stage in yours which is sad.
-
Oh come on! Drama much? we just went through Code Red on Coral last month and went through exactly the same things you did. A minor inconvience at best.
-
What a wonderful review! can't wait to read more.
-
Also, if you just want it for a 1/2 day period...can one of the couple be up there at 6:00am ish or do both parties have to be there?
-
See, I'm not really sure why folks would choose a vacation venue that doesn't suit their dress requirements!
Did I miss the news release? did attending formal nights become mandatory?
-
I just asked my husband..he said, suits, jackets, ties just don't fit with his state of mind being on vacation which is why we've taken to skipping formal nights altogether.

How do I keep the weight down? Co-ordinate everything and lightweight fabrics. For trips of a week, I'm not so strict, but anything longer, tops must go with multiple bottoms and the other way around. We live by the saying that if you pack it, you deal with it. Lugging dead weight around isn't my idea of fun. I also think I dress differently from some of the packers I know. I have a friend and everything is "outfits"..this top goes with these pants and this jacket. And she'll end up taking 20 outfits. I'm much more of a mix and match girl.
For our upcoming trip to France, I'll have access to laundry at the start of week 3 - that will definitely play a role in my packing. We also have an apartment booked on the 4th floor, no elevators. I would like to be able to leave luggage in the car between destinations and it's can't be in sight. Tons of reasons not to overpack!!

He was on Sapphire Mexican Riviera in October.

It's about a 2 hour 45 minute drive to Mont St. Michel. We're actually doing this on a land trip in June but we've decided to break up our 5 days in Normandy/Brittany to be 3 in Honfleur and 2 in St. Malo as we don't have to do that drive twice in one day! But if you're only there for the one day go for it. Mont St. Michel for me is bucket list :)

Bermuda if I have to be on the ship in one port for four days.
Bermuda is a country, not a port and there's plenty to keep you busy for weeks never mind 4 days.
new coffee card - response from Princess

No, because as previously stated, the brewed coffee is only good for the sailing you bought your coffee card on.
