  1. Yea...basically the same as Splendor. I'd think with Spirit and Splendor doing itineraries in Australia, they had the euro plug replaced with the 3 prong Australia plug.
  2. We did an Alaskan cruise on Splendor this past August. I usually bring a European adapter to have an extra plug or 2 when sailing on "older" ships. However I was not able to use mine on Splendor as there was a different plug configuration. I asked our room steward about it, he informed me the plug was an Australian plug setup for when Splendor returned to Australia. Sorry, I don't know the plug specs, just going from what our steward told us.
  3. Carnival no longer allows access to airline sites for flight check in or checking status unless you pay for an internet plan?
  4. A follow on question. If you choose to upgrade from say the social plan to the value plan, can you upgrade for just one day, or would it have to be for the remainder of the cruise?
  5. Looking to purchase an internet plan for our Venezia cruise in October, and beat the price increase that goes into effect tomorrow. We usually get the Value plan, but looking to save about $50 by getting the Social plan. I've seen posts on hear suggesting iMessage does not work or is "not supported" on the Social plan, but I don't see that noted anywhere on Carnivals site, only other apps, email etc.? Other posts state iMessage worked fine. I've also experienced using iMessage without being connected to an internet plan, but certainly would not rely or count on that. Question I have is if we decide the Social plan is not getting us what we want, and decide to upgrade, I'd assume the upgrade cost would be at the new, higher rate and the rate charged onboard, not the pre-cruise discounted rate?
  6. Bridge may be one of the quietest places on the ship. We've stayed in 4J cabins (considered interiors) on a number of cruises and never heard anything from the bridge.
  7. We never let "Elegant nights" factor in to when we make reservations for any specialty dining reservations. In fact we now make specialty dining reservations on those nights of elegance. Sometimes easier to get reservations and tend to be less crowded those nights.
  8. Yes, they offered that as well as something like $100 per person OBC. Also sounds like Carnival won't be rescheduling the TA, which is of course very disappointing.
  9. Does indeed, just received the cancellation notice from Carnival..big disappointment.
  10. Thats an easy one.....three in a balcony.
  11. Whoa…you booked the sh last night and tonight for the lower $42 rate?!?!?!?
  12. When did you book to still get the $42 rate? We tried booking last night and only saw the higher $48 rate. The email that went out yesterday, which I didn't get, said you could book through tomorrow and still get the lower rate. As for booking the steakhouse on formal night, we do that "routinely" now. Less crowded, they usually offer the "free bottle of wine", I get it's not the greatest, but we're ok with that. For us the steakhouse beats anything served in the MDR. Menu in the steakhouse seems the same as any other night from our experience.
  13. Cut and paste is or coulda been your friend....assuming you purchase e-gift cards....
  14. Fee is supposed to be charged in the steakhouse and mdr, but not always. We've sailed 5 times since the restart, and have brought wine into the mdr on all 5 and steakhouse once, and not been charged the fee. We do bring it in open and with wine glasses. Prior to the shutdown it was pretty much hit or miss as well. Guess we've been sort of....lucky.
  15. There is one other TA in October 2023 that currently does not show on Carnivals website, probably and somewhat oddly to me is because it's "completely booked" on the Carnival Jubilee. It's an 18 day leaving from Southhampton, going south, stops in Grand Turk before porting in Galveston TX. We're booked on that cruise, and I'm 99% certain it's not a Journeys cruise. None of the booking information shows anything about it being a Journeys cruise. This will be our 4th TA on Carnival....woulda been our 5th had we not canceled Horizon's TA. We take TA's almost 100% for the sea days..the more the better. The Jubilee has 12 sea days, with 6 consecutive after leaving Las Palmas. stops in GT...then 3 more into Galveston. Some of the best sea days we've experienced on any of our cruises, have been on the TA's we've taken. Some rough, less than undesirable days mixed in, but the nice calm days far out weigh and out number those lousy days. And the "crowd" on the TA's does tend to be more...mature..as someone else mentioned with very few kids. While none of our past TA's were Journeys cruises, we did have some lecturers that talked on various subjects...cruises were a while ago now so I don't recall specifics, but do know we attended a few talks on those cruises, more to hear the subject matter vs something to do on an lousy sea day. I do find it odd that with the Jubilee TA being apparently sold out over a year out, the Celebration cruise this November shows availability for most cabin types...at a lower cost...is a shorter cruise and has fewer port stops that I'd think contribute contribute to the lower cost....still surprised a little on it's availability.
  16. I would be equally as crazy as I also think the changes to the bottle policy allegedly due to "smuggling" happened well before covid.
  17. We've only done 4 cruises since the restart and have brought wine onboard with us on all 4, and strangely, have not been charged the corkage fee on any of them, even in the steakhouse, where pre-covid almost always did. We brought the wine open with us, no glasses. The staff at the MDR brought us wine glasses, and even in the steakhouse brought the "appropriate" wine glass, poured the wine and still no charge.
  18. I was surprised when we booked the cruise only 4-5 weeks before the sailing date, the excursion was available, I was still available even after we boarded. But the naturalist onboard talked it up, and it then sold out. I'm curious though. For our sailing out of Seattle, it was confusing which day the excursion was. It was listed as Day1 in Seattle, which obviously could not be. Was it that way for the Spirit?
  19. I'll second that. We booked a "spur of the moment" cruise to Alaska last month on Splendor. This excursion was one of the first things I learned/read about after booking, and booked it pretty much right after. Well worth it. We had anything BUT perfect viewing weather. Clouds, fog, rain and the coldest temps we had the entire cruise, but this excursion may standout as the highlight of the cruise. We visited both the North and South glaciers, which we were not expecting, and caught a rather huge calving event at the South glacier, that was incredible to see and hear!! Also saw a view whales along the way as well. I'd do this again in a heartbeat!!
  20. Have no fear, the fictitious A----- posted a link, possibly this one, to John Heald's FB page. Heald of course did not share the link, but assured everyone that the free wine on 1st night in the steakhouse is NOT being discontinued........
  21. We were on the Splendor last week and received the complimentary bottle on the 2nd night of cruise, also first "elegant" night...our favorite night for going to the steakhouse.
  22. We had a GTY balcony on Magic last November assigned over 2 months out!! I was very surprised. We had done a few prior to that that were more like 2-4 weeks from cruise.
