  1. Well it is sunny and clear skies here but "only" 68 degrees. I can honestly recommend the South America and Chilean Glacier cruise on the Jupiter to anyone. Crew and food has been great. Crew even smiles and greets you. Sleepy...dont leave Viking but if you do, let us know.
  2. On my last cruise (last month) I prepaid for the first time the grats and silver spirits. I had refundable OBC. On previous cruises, I would always receive a check in the mail within 2 weeks. This time I received a credit on my charge card for the unused refundable OBC.
  3. Clay- Discussed and answered previously. The additional $300 is an occasional promotion. I have received it twice. Last time I received it was when I booked onboard last month. The Viking cruise consultant told me I was getting $300 from my TA. I said- wait, slow down. I always received more. E-mailed my TA. She said not to worry (Me worry?). When I received the paperwork from my TA, I received a total of $1,300. Nice. So I guess if you are on a World Cruise, you get nothing! Being reimbursed for the gratuities means you are getting less than what I receive from my TA. Unless your cruises are 30 days.
  4. Regardless of what the commission is, there are many fine TA's who rebates the maximum that Viking allows. In fact, on my upcoming cruise that is 22 nights, I will receive $1K refundable and $300 non-refundable OBC from my TA.
  5. I'm surprised no one has replied to you. Regardless of what promo from Viking gave you the OBC, many but not all TA's will give you the maximum OBC allowed. Calling it a "gift" is nonsense.
  6. Could someone indicate what cruises are eligible for FV23? I assume the actual savings is a mystery until you speak to a Viking agent. Is the savings from reduced cabin rates and free air and nothing else? Thanks.
  7. Just my 2 cents... What would have made this cruise better (post Abba and Beatles) would have been the "Atrium Concert Series" where various Viking vocalists sing for 45 minutes And what is so entertaining about a magician as a guest entertainer? Question- did you really find the WC staff as attentive and friendly as the bar servers in the Living Room(amazing) or staff in the Restaurant (where it is almost impossible to not be greeted as you walk to your table)? WC staff need to smile and say hello a lot more. Of course the Living Room service really needs to improve. But the problem is likely in the kitchen. Why was trivia (offered on sea days) sometimes scheduled at 8pm. The lecturers were excellent with the exception of Garcia. He was good. I would rate this cruise as good.
  8. Thanks for reaffirming. I must add that Viking does need to continue their various promotions. When I first started sailing Viking it was only river cruises. Passengers sailing today pay less than what I paid in 2010. Back then there was no free air promotions. Viking Ocean started up with no promotions. Viking attempts to target their promotions to passenger who appear "one and done". I personally receive very few promotions. Viking adding so many new Ocean ships so quickly affects their supply vs demand. Do you hear me Viking?
  9. Except for Jim's spelling he is correct. However, it's a different matter when Viking drops a port one week before sailing because they realize the port day falls on Christmas or New Years!
  10. On the same cruise with you. Don't believe that the Asian section by the Aquivat bar ever existed on the Sky. Could be wrong.
  11. On my cruise last month on the Sky- 6-8 days $100pp 9-15 days $200pp 16-22 days $300pp 23-29 days $400pp 30-50 days $500pp 51+ days $1K You would also receive $100pp as non-refundable ship board credit. $500pp for 15+ days are for dreamers. 🙂
  12. Is this the old Viking Sun that was "transferred" to China a few years ago?
  13. I should have added that there is no need to interview a TA as to OBC. Major agencies have an on-line presence. To obtain your business they clearly explain the "benefits" of booking directly with them. I have transferred my booking to a TA I originally found on-line. I call their 800# and speak to the same live person and transfer my booking. Lately, I just transfer the booking without speaking to anyone.
  14. On a future VO cruise that is 22 nights, I received a total of $1,300 from my TA. $300 is non-refundable and $1K is refundable. And while in the past I received a check of the unused OBC from Viking in less than 2 weeks, on the cruise I got off of last month I received a credit to my credit card. Likely it was due to me prepaying gratuities and silver spirits. Or not.
  15. Because Turkey mandates it. Rugs were nice, but way out of my budget.
  16. Sorry, i was only trying to get your attention.
  17. Having a glass now thank you. I said it in a loving manner. Didn’t mean to be so harsh. You do know I love you?
  18. Hi, stop the madness. On my current cruise there are 46 wines from all over the world that are $8 US dollars. Reds white Chilean Australian etc. Lots of choices. Some are $9. My complaint is theire are not better wines selling for lets say $13 or $15. For the average wine drinkers there are lots of choices. I suggest bringing your favorite on board and not complain to others.
  19. Hi Flounder, We booked Northern Pacific Passage for April 23. Used the TGS23 for a pretty good promo. Happy Birdday!! Oh, it appears that your local TA can give you up to $1,300 for a cruise over 14 nights.
  20. Sounds good. Please notify us on Viking when your posting. Loved your pics and posts. Viking is doing turkey on Thanksgiving. Which is a relief because originally they had it on the app two days later!
  21. So what brilliant travelog can I expect in the future?
  22. Sorry to say FV23 is not combinable with any other offers. It might be with EBD but as we know that offer generally means nothing. And the cruise consultant admitted that some offers are combinable.
