Controversial Opinion: i absolutely hate the look of some of the new cruise ships coming out now. I'm sure they're all beautiful inside, but externally is what I'm talking about. Some examples: The hideous upper structure (above the bridge) of NCL's Epic, which looks SO topheavy and ungainly. The ugly stern sections of the RC Quantum class (look like a giant set of black teeth hanging off the back of those ships). The weird narrow "hotel" structures on the sterns of the MSC Seaside and the Virgin ships. That silly orange freight-elevator contraption (a bar) hanging off the starboard side of the already ugly Celebrity Edge. But the thing I dislike most design-wise (and I know its all to improve performance, allegedly) is that new ugly looking reverse bow design, like on the Prima and the Virgin (and other) ships. That bow design makes these ships look like giant locomotives in the water. There's nothing prettier than the standard traditional cruise ship bow design (in my opinion)!

Ah .. OK .. i learned something today. Didn't realize this was a SOLAS thing that banned cabin/balcony smoking. Seems odd that they'd still allow it at all out on the designated areas on deck and in the casino, t hen. But wow thats some crazy looking damage on that ship .. yikes.

That they should have sections for smoking-permitted on balconies. I completely understand nonsmokers not wanting to smell smoke coming from the balcony next to them, but if they just had one section of cabins together, say, on the rear of the ship that allowed balcony smoking, that would be a nice thing.

Yes, Savannah is a beautiful city (surrounding areas too). Not sure how receptive their locals would be to having a cruise port built there .. I know many of the people in CHS were not crazy about it at all!

That would be like paying a similiar amount for the Grand Suite in an Econolodge. Who in their right ... mind .. . ?!!!

Would Savannah, GA work in place of Charleston? I know there have been cruise ship port calls there in the past.

Actually, I think what the cruise lines are stewing over right now more than anything re: dropping Covid testing altogether is whether or not they're ready to risk another major outbreak on one of their ships .. which could easily lead to another shutdown .. especially with the BA5 numbers climbing.

So it sounds like Dad and the GF were late for check-in/boarding and denied .. so they threatened trouble/lawsuit since the rest of the family (with his kid) left without him .. hey ... pretty impressive maneuver if so!
