  1. Would you mind telling how much the two person tour was? Thanks.
  2. A friend of ours has a criminal conviction and has to do a waiver every 5 years in order to enter the US. I don't know how long it takes to get one of these, but this is the website with the information: https://www.cbp.gov/travel/international-visitors/admission-forms/form-i-92-application-advance-permission-enter-nonimmigrant
  3. Not Miami, but I was able to roam with Koodo while on the ship and docked in Fort Lauderdale.
  4. There are many different types of Aloha shirts. My husband has many and I think he looks just fine in them. If others judge him as classless, so be it!
  5. We used a company called Roissy VTC (https://roissyvtc.fr/). They were on time and everything went smoothly.
  6. We do not live close to one of Viking's designated "hub" airports in Canada, so we would have to pay to get to one of those airports. We also want to go early or stay late after a cruise. By the time you add up Air Plus, a deviation fee, and the cost to get to the hub airport it's just not worth it to use Viking air. The only time we did was when air was included (Grand European).
  7. I did a quick check on the Bank of America website and some of their cards do, in fact, charge a 3% foreign transaction fee. You should check which card you have and if it charges this fee.
  8. This is the link I received in an email. Give it a try! Princess link
  9. There's a current one for the Mediterranean: WMD23 It offers significant savings and reduced air. I think it expires the end of this month.
  10. My husband is a retired BC school teacher and I'm a retired BC college instructor. Both of our retirement associations have access to MEDOC through a group plan.
  11. We did our own "pre" before our Viking Homelands out of Bergen this past summer. The only direct flight from Edinburgh landed about 5:30 pm which got us to the ship about 7 pm. Absolutely no problems boarding at the time. In fact, it was quite lovely ... there was nobody else boarding, so the staff treated us like their most treasured guests!
  12. You're guaranteed the category you booked "or better". I've always got a better cabin with a guaranteed booking (other cruise line).
  13. I live in BC and used the "travel exception" reason to get my 4th shot. I'm under 70 years old.
  14. I just checked the app and it's showing the full postal code for us.
  15. The river boats had really nice longer wooden shoe horns ... might work? I'm not sure if the ocean ships have them
  16. I should also add that the pdf document can be uploaded to Arrivecan for proof of vaccination.
  17. If you go to the following website and enter the data (health number, birth date, date of vaccination) you should be able to get the federal pdf proof. I did this for my husband as he doesn't have a cell phone. https://www.healthgateway.gov.bc.ca/vaccinecard
  18. Ebags no longer makes the one I have, but this is very similar. It has qualified as the "personal item" on flights within North America. With restrictions tighter in Europe, I'm not sure how it would fare, but worth looking at. https://www.ebags.com/backpacks-bags/handbags-totes/belcourt-convertible-carryall/141771XXXX.html?dwvar_141771XXXX_color=Black&cgidmaster=backpack-bags-handbags-totes
  19. This was a promo I received today (I'm from Canada, so pricing is Canadian): https://www.viking.com/promotions/ca/jul4-lp.html?contid=30434635942_1024447533&utm_id=email_vrc.54469922&cid=EML|RSP|999|vrc.54469922&utm_source=email&utm_medium=email&utm_content=55presale
  20. We're spending three days in Edinburgh before flying to Bergen for the Homelands cruise specifically to go to the Tattoo. It's a bucket list item for me!
  21. Interesting. I'm from Canada and see this.
  22. I also had already booked the same time every evening, but realized that it would conflict with a shore excursion we were interest in. I tried exactly the procedure you've quoted and there was no option to either book OR cancel. I finally online chatted with someone and had them cancel all the bookings.
  23. Our cruise is in August and "The Restaurant" booking was available until a few days ago. Booking capability has now dropped in MVJ.
  24. On our Viking river cruise (the only one we've done, so far, with Viking) most people avoided political discussion. There was one guy who was in your face about it, so we just avoided him wherever possible. I didn't have a sense that the general population leaned one way or the other, as the discussion never came up.
  25. This is how my "Before you go" document, effective April 1, 2022, reads on My Viking Journey: "- PCR test taken within 72 hours prior to boarding first international flight, (or joining Viking if traveling independently,) or - Antigen test taken within 24 hours prior to boarding first international flight (or joining Viking if traveling independently,) This pretty clearly says "first INTERNATIONAL flight" and also clarifies for folks travelling independently. I'm from Canada - do folks from other countries get different instructions?
