Yeah, I heard this date too. Even though many people dont expect the cruising be back by Autumn, I still believe that none of the compnaies want to miss an opportunity to earn money during summer. I really hope that the situation will settle in the upcomming weeks. May in Europe is a period full of various celebrations. I expect Europe to announce something closer to June or in June.

    Octoberfest has been cancelled ...

April 11 cruise cancelled by Princess on March 12.

    We selected Option 1.

Just this afternoon (nothing showing this morning) the full amount matching 150% FCC deposited into our accounts. 1/2 in mine, 1/2 in wife's. Exactly correct to the dollar.

Our deposit ($200) was paid with FCDs. That $200 was refunded as a part of the larger total FCC received.

The FCCs were applied as two separate line items. One line item was the cruise fare. The other was the 50% bonus.

Nothing yet applied to the original credit card ($260) to pay port fees and taxes.

cancelled by Princess … yet, your FCD was not put back into your account as a FCD, but in the combined FCC

so, the next cruise you book, you'll have to use 'another' previously purchased FCD, or come out of pocket for the deposit

    shame on you, Princess

But I admit it is tempting and would be of more value in a situation where difficult to impossible to bring sufficient wine on board..

works for us, others, maybe not so much

having a choice is a beautiful thing

And it is independent whether you have OV or B, so no need to delay ordering it if you want the add-on.

In our case, is is the "D" part that has no value to us.  Even if they offered a "BESTWG", there is no point since it is a wash from value standpoint.  All the value is in the "D" component if you consume sufficient each day.

    "D" component is $ 15 pp pd - alcoholic $12 and under and non-alcoholic - unlimited

Usually credit cards want you to first try resolving any problem with the merchant.

There have been posts saying their credit card would not accept the dispute because Princess was planning on the refund even if it was slow in coming.

from the UK cruisers thread earlier today - who has my money

    post # 1 ( will try again to copy/paste )

The TA said that they sent over my balance payment to Princess as soon as they had received it. I’m not convinced that they have, I think that they were hanging onto my money until  the balance was due to be paid to Princess.

I’ve not had any refund yet and Barclaycard can’t do a charge back because I cancelled the cruise, not Princess. My decision to cancel the cruise was because I was getting worried about the rumours that ABTA and ATOL are considering offering vouchers not cash in the event that Princess go bust.

The best codes are still alive and active!  This is not on error, Princess intended to keep the add-on offers alive.

for now … according to my crack PVP … as they were 'intended' to be 'add-on's to pre-existing bookings that had one of the

perks but not the other two … and it wasn't a rebook, or refare,

and as above, it is still alive and well, you just may have to explain it to the rep at booking

    stay safe

    peace out

A question for anyone who chose Option 2.....has anyone received word from  Princess as to when Option 2 might be fulfilled?  I know all the cruise lines are stressed right now, but I just wondered if anyone had received their Option 2?

maybe try reading the other 10 threads below discussing the refund and FCC status ?

and welcome to Cruise Critic !!

And, actually, a ship manned by the full crew is not a warm lay up, it is a "hot" lay up.  As I've stated, a "cold" lay up means no crew what so ever onboard, just like the ships you see at anchor in the James River, and the Neches River in Beaumont, and there's one Ready Reserve Fleet on the West Coast as well. Cold lay up means "cold iron", which means no power at all, so no crew could remain onboard, not even "limited crew".

It might be valuable to read the actual SEC filing, not anyone's interpretation of it:

(the highlighting is mine, the text however is verbatim from CCL)

"During the pause in our global fleet cruise operations, certain of our ships will be in warm ship layup where the ship will be manned by a full crew and certain of our ships will be in a prolonged ship layup where the ship will be manned by a limited crew. We estimate the cost per warm ship layup is approximately $2 million to $3 million per month and the cost per prolonged ship layup is approximately $1 million per month. We will decide whether each vessel in our global fleet will be in a warm ship layup or a prolonged ship layup depending on the circumstances, including the length of pause, which we expect to be extended and may be prolonged. We currently estimate the substantial majority of our fleet will be in prolonged ship layup."

"prolonged" … ok, yeah, that's definitive

I have found that Princess reps give many different answers to the

identical question. So, call again and again if you need to. And ask

    for a supervisor if needed.

and that answer will be good until the call is ended … sorry

With no A/C or de-humidification, can you imagine all the mold that would start to grow? Carpets, upholstery, mattresses, wall coverings and so on, the list just goes on and on.

exactly ... a "cruise" ship that needs to undergo a major rejuvenation would be a perfect candidate for such a cold lay up

then … wait for it ...

    COME BACK NEW !!!!

Sorry, much as I traditionally agree with Hank, I would doubt that any cruise ship enters "cold lay up" this year or any year.  "Cold lay up, means sealing up the ship, dehumidifying it, and turning off all power.  That just ain't gonna happen.  What most ships will do is "warm lay up", where the crew is reduced to minimum and the power is kept on and the minimum services needed to maintain proper humidity levels in the ship will continue.  Cold lay up can take weeks to months to prepare for and execute, and the same when starting up again, and almost always still comes with damage to the ship from excess humidity.  Carnival's statement says "prolonged ship lay up", it does not say "cold lay up".

how long does a "cruise" ship need to be planned to be out of service to induce a cold lay up ?
