  1. I haven't received my official flight information from NCL, but on my itinerary it shows I'm flying into Gatwick. I have another month or so until I should get my flight information. I wish it was sooner so I could finish planning my hotel. I have one tentatively reserved in South Hampton, so hoping I land fairly early and can take a train or bus directly there from the airport so I can relax until the cruise.
  2. I love.... relaxing on the Waterfront or whatever main deck, listening to music, and watching the ocean go by, visiting and experiencing a different city every day, being able to eat different food from what I would eat at home, meeting new people.
  3. I had a great TA a while back, but she left the agency, and I haven't found one that has been of much help yet. I started using one of NCL's PCC, and he has been great. While I still pay the online price, he's very helpful on calling me when he knows there are promos I would be interested in (double loyalty points, double next cruise promotion, etc). On my last cruise, he automatically updated my cruise price twice when he saw the price go down, prior to final payment. He also calls me after the cruise to see how it was, and if I had any issues.
  4. Thank you so much for your positive review. I'm booked on Prima in August (London to Iceland) and have been a bit trepidatious after all I've read. Thankfully you, and a lot of these responses, have reassured me about my upcoming trip. Now I can't wait!
  5. Thank you for the review! I will be taking Prima in August to Northern Europe/Iceland and appreciate all the information I can get.
  6. I'm a big fan of the Studios too. I prefer them to the regular inside cabins. The Studios seem to have more room, and storage than a regular inside room. I also love the studio lounge, it's a great meeting place, and just a good place to relax in quiet. And as others said, there's a great coffee machine, snacks (pastries and fruit), drinks (iced water, orange juice) in there if you just want a bite of something without having to go up to the buffet. Yes, sometimes the studios can cost more than paying the supplement on an inside room, but for me the difference is usually pretty negligible and worth it.
  7. Looking forward to hearing about your solo trip on Prima. I will be doing the same in August (but for 11 days) so looking forward to your point of view. Hope you enjoy yourself and have a wonderful time!!!
  8. I'm scheduled for the same cruise in August, and reading the reviews were giving me doubts about this ship also. But, I have learned to take reviews with a grain of salt. For every negative review I've read, there's a glowing review. But, I do pay attention to what people negatively say to use this as advise for my planning. Once I looked at reviews this way, I lost my doubts and can't wait for this cruise!
  9. Thanks for the invite, but I'm on the Aug 27 sailing 🙂
  10. Thank you for the review. I'm doing the London to Iceland trip in August and can't get enough information about this ship! I hope they fix the soot problem by then, I love sitting outside and watching the ocean go by, even when it's cold out.
  11. I'll be on Prima in 6 months so I'm hanging onto every word and picture you post. Thanks for pictures of the solo cabin, as that is what I will be staying in too. Have a great trip!!!
  12. I've eaten a Q a few times and like it. Is it the best BBQ around? No, but it's good (especially the desserts). I don't use one of my specialty dining credits on it though. The prices are reasonable enough that I just pay out of pocket for that one, and save my specialty dinner credits for some of the more expensive places.
  13. I tested positive midway through my cruise back in October (yes, I brought my own kit). I had an inside room and was moved down to the isolation area (there were 2 other people in rooms down there). For me it was an upgrade, to an ocean view and much bigger room. I'm guessing it depends on what type of room you're in if they move you or not. I will say, they did take care of me and did what they could to make me comfortable.
  14. I was wondering about the sudden calls from new PCCs. I had just gotten off a ship and received a call from a new PCC the next day asking if they could help me plan my next cruise. I got a bit snippy since I had just gotten sick and had been up almost 24 hours due to the NCL flight I had received. Yesterday I got another call and informed her I already had a PCC. I hope this is not going to start happening after every time I look up cruises. Thanks for all the suggestions on how to avoid them "watching" every time I'm just looking at cruises.
  15. My planed doesn't land until 6:30pm, and by the time I get my luggage and stuff, it will just be easier (and cheaper) to stay near the airport. Especially since my flight departure from home is at 5 am that morning (yawn). As much as I love an adventure, I tend to be more conservative when in an unknown area and on a time crunch. I do have a hotel booked in Astoria, but you've given me some food for thought, so will check out the areas close to the Long Island Rail Road or subway, and that can be my adventure for the early part of the day 😄
  16. Thank you all for your input, I appreciate it. I figured it would be rushing things to try and do this. Last time I did this cruise I did the Hop ON/Off bus day of cruise and had to get off a few blocks from my hotel and run back to my hotel to get my luggage and head for the ship. It was a little harrowing. Right now, I'm booked at a hotel by LaGuardia. I'll probably just relax, have a leisurely breakfast, catch a Lyft directly to the cruise port, and get a good viewing spot from this ship as we pass.
  17. I am arriving in New York on a Saturday evening for a Sunday sailing (NCL, out of Manhattan Cruise Terminal). Do you think I would have enough time to visit the Statue of Liberty on the day of the cruise? I've been looking for a hotel within a mile or two of Battery Park. It looks like the first ferry leaves at 9am. I would need to go back to the hotel, after the tour, to pick up luggage and arrange a Lyft/Taxi to the cruise terminal too. Thanks for any input you can give me!
  18. I've traveled solo quite a bit, and the reason I'm partial to NCL. They do take care of the solo travelers and treat them like valued customers. There are nightly solo traveler meets (the first night is usually in one of the bars/public areas, and then more to the solo lounge for the rest of the week). Usually, the dedicated crew member will circulate a sign-up sheet nightly for everyone who would like to attend a group dinner at one of the dining rooms the next night and take care of all the reservations. Even if you sign up for dinner, it's no big deal if you decide to go elsewhere. For specialty dinners, I reserve mine ahead of time for 2 people (I try to reserve before the cruise, but if times are not available, I just make my reservations when I first get on board), and if anyone is interested in joining me, that's great, if not, that's fine too. If a group is interested in a specialty dinner, the crew member will try and make a group reservation for everyone who's interest (but, be warned, they might not be able to get a reservation if everything is booked up.) FYI, they will also book a section for group shows if anyone's interest. Hope you enjoy your trip!
  19. I had this excursion booked for my trip 3 weeks ago, but it was canceled. I was told the trail the tram (what I considered to be an open-air vehicle that took you down a trail through the forests back down to the town) still had too much snow on it. In exchange I just bought the excursion that was just the gondola to the top (red) as many times as you wanted (I went up/down twice). It was a great view up at the top, but not much to do up there. I did walk down to watch the zipline, but be warned, it's a pretty steep climb back up to the area where the gondola is. Once down below, I walked the trail over to the main part of town (a bit longer than I thought it would be, due to being docked at the farther dock), and took the green gondola back to the dock.
