What's a sidesaddle suite?
I've never heard this before either to describe the suites on each side of the ship, but I think it is amusing and I might use it, too. Like his name, I bet BgWest is from the West!
Since we'd travel in September when school is in session, there wouldn't be children running for ice cream, just adults running for ice cream. I was more worried about the chairs being set up in the morning.
-
On this ship, the S4 suites are underneath the pool area. Can anyone tell me if you can hear noises from the pool area in this type of suite from above? Chairs scraping as they are set-up for the day, folks running around, or anything like that?
The other suites are either aft or forward. We've never had an aft suite. We will be doing the Canada-New England cruise. Would the feel the movement of the Atlantic Ocean in an Aft suite?
Any comments on the Princess Caribbean suites are appreciated.

I'd like to know what type of entertainment the Radiance offers at night? What are the shows in the theater? What are the other venues? I don't suppose there are venues similar to the larger ships, but I'd like to know what to look forward to. What isn't to be missed? Is there a venue to dance? Thank you. We will be sailing to Alaska in July.
-
Thanks, everybody for the responses. I'm glad many of you are enjoying the current entertainment. HAL did well for us for many, many cruises, and are happy with our memories. On to other cruise lines!

I'd like to know about the daytime and evening entertainment on board. Are there several types of daytime activities, especially at sea days? And, at night, each night, are there multiple venues of entertainment? Is there a place to dance each night? Thank you. If there is a daily calendar of activities to view, I'd appreciate seeing it.

Just don't forget to upload your documents into the ArriveCan App. You can do it up to three days prior.
We are going to Vancouver and then cruising to Alaska. I'm waiting for RCCL to indicate what we need to do. Right now, I think I have to be tested 24 hours prior to my plane ride. Is that accurate? And, then, I have to be tested again for the ship as I will be spending 3 days in Vancouver. I don't know how they test in Vancouver. We've only done it in USA online for a cruise.

We loved HAL, but left when the entertainment changed. They changed the singer/dancer shows to only dancer shows. They have fewer live shows. The dueling pianos players weren't dueling, but taking turns and often did not get along. The B.B. King area got boring after a while. There was more classical music instead of having it just before dinner.
Has anything changed?

Diamond Passengers were offered 4 drinks each day instead of the Diamond Lounge being open. Is this still what is happening? We sail in July on the Radiance. If I could delete this post, I would as I just saw the answer to my question in another post.

I'm on a cruise tour in Alaska and we want to leave the cruise tour the night of the last night in the hotel so that we can fly home easily. In other words, we are in Fairbanks at a hotel for two nights, but we want to catch a 9pm flight that leaves on the second night. Is that going to be a problem? We have not told RCCL.
-
Is there any information about taking an approved test to board RCCL ship when embarking in Vancouver? We used the Optum/Navica for our cruise in the Caribbean, but I don't know if they work in Canada. Or, is there no information out yet?
-
We are familiar with the Optum test and Navica testing format for a cruise starting in the US. Can we call Navica from Canada and then, we have to hope that the hotel can print our results. Does anyone have other options for us? We will be in Vancouver for two days prior to sailing.

We booked an Australia/New Zealand trip for next February. Today I decided to check how much airfare is roundtrip Sydney even though I know I cannot plug in the dates for our travel. I just used this year and made up dates similar to our dates for next year. What a surprise! Airfare is over $2,000 for economy and $15,000 for First class. (these are approximate, of course) Flying with miles is about 900,000 for First Class. Here's my question - I know Princess can arrange our flights, but will the fares be less expensive? I realize this is all 'iffy', but I just want to know experiences of others.
-
Thanks, everyone. We will be doing a Princess Cruisetour so we don't have to worry about the travel part or how long in each place. We take busses and planes (and maybe boats and trains!) From what I read from these responses, we will do it in February. The 6 day land part will be first, starting in Sydney, then Ulura , Cairns, and then back to Sydney to jump on the cruise that does NZ for 13 days.

Thank you. Yes. 2023 is the target year. Why do you think February is better? It's hotter than, I think. We live in South Florida so we wouldn't go for the warmth. But, I don't want cold either. I read that Australia had bad fires and drought for the last two years and wonder if that is one reason not to go in October? I do appreciate your opinion on all these matters. What about rainy season? I'd hate that!
-
We are looking at a land tour of Australia and then a cruise of New Zealand in either February or October. Which is the best month for this? Both tours go to the north and south areas of both. I'm wondering about rainfall, temperature and now I'm wondering about flies that I just read about on Tripadvisor.

I must ask : What are PINS and UDP? We are making up our minds between the Symphony or the Sky Princess for late 2022. We just got off the Allure and loved the Coastal Kitchen.

I read that there are soft drinks all day long in the suite lounge. Do they have water bottles also?

Calories and sugars aren't exactly the same thing. Royal doesn't have Skinny Girl brand.
If you're talking about the straight liquor not mixers or mixed drinks by Skinny Girl - the lower calorie marketing is just a gimmick. Like how popcorn boasts that it's gluten free - of course it is it's corn! They say their brand of vodka is less than 100 calories per serving. Well I should hope so since 1 ounce of 40% vodka is 64 calories, 1.5oz is only 97. And that's pretty much the same for all spirits.
The calories and sugar come from the mixers.
Thank you. So, what mixer is the best choice for least amount of sugar? Thank you for your info!
-
Actually, I believe Skinny Girl has fewer calories than other liquors. And, there are others. So, I'm asking about both.
-
Does RCCL have low sugar liquors or mixes? What type? Are they good? At all the bars? If they do, what do you suggest I ask for? I only heard this week that this type of liquor exists!
-
Do I have to set up an account with Navica before calling the number?

Recently we have been hearing 50%
Wouldn't that be nice? I read a few weeks ago on CC that it was up to 65%. How do you hear about this info?
-
Anyone who cruised last week or this week - what's the capacity up to now? I'm cruising November 27.

Why don't you just ask them. They will bring you whatever you want, I promise. Ye have not because ye ask not. And you can ask them to prepare it any way you want it. There is also a diet provision for vegetarians, diabetics, etc... all you have to do is ask.
We had HOT sour dough rolls this last trip because we asked for them...every night, yummy melted butter, no more hard butter.
You mean I can ask for roasted vegetables and they'll make them for me?

We are looking at the Cruise Tour in September 2023 from Toronto to New York. This will be our 6th Canada/New England cruise, but we haven't done the land portion. Are you doing the land tour?
