  1. Up and down California to Mexico Southbound from Vancouver California to Hawaii Maybe a few hours without internet. I was able to FaceTime a tour of the ship I was able to check emails, read the news, did not try to stream Granted, my internet at home is 5 Mbps so I am happy to just be able to log on while on a cruise. Learned that login.com and logout.com worked better than any other method to connect. I do want Princess to remove the MedallionNet®The Best Wi-Fi at Sea slogan.
  2. On the Grand: No smoke free days/nights No smoking in a very small slot section and at tables "Penny" slots with minimum of x number of lines (I think the minimum play on some machines was like 30 cents)
  3. Very true, but unless you place a formal request for a birthday celebration, it is just another day on a cruise. I was recently on a cruise where a solo passenger wanted to celebrate her birthday. I don't know who ordered her "real" 8 inch round cake, but she wore a tiara to dinner, everyone around her sang, and she took her cake around Club Class to share with everyone.
  4. Oh, this is going to be a great read. You are a marvelous story teller. Thank you.
  5. I was super excited when my stock split 1:7. But "should" have bought it back in the 70's when we started to "buy" apple products. Oh, the foolish things we didn't do.
  6. What can I say? You should have invested in APPLE products instead. I am so sorry...
  7. I stopped at 27th. That seemed to be a popular number in my family.
  8. I used the Medallion App to request a birthday celebration for my sister. I was only expecting the cardboard door notice, the cake, and an announcement as she passed those public screens. (no photo of singing waiters, square cake, and ice cream). I stopped celebrating my birthday onboard a long time ago since I don't like this cake.
  9. Credit Card on file is charged for FCD's. It is not added to your onboard account.
  10. Was your issue resolved to your satisfaction without contacting Jan? Thanks for reporting back.
  11. You are correct. A mobile device is either a tablet or a mobile (cell) phone. The Medallion Class app will work on a tablet and/or phone. The web-base check in will not do everything that a mobile device app is capable of achieving. Close, but no cigars
  12. @harryfat1I will have to say that out of all the days you were traveling, your airport experience was the most "exciting". What did you expect when you tried to order the noodles???? Cherry on top of the sundae. Looking forward to your final comments. Do we have an anticipated "next" cruise to look forward to? How will us Princess folk know how to find you if you jump ship?
  13. How full was your sailing? If you are mid-ship aft, it's the perfect dining room. Let the other 2/3 of the ship fight over the center dining rooms.
  14. Cruise Critic posters are generally experienced and come with great explanations. I hope my inputs fall into that category. Princess would ease a lot of anxiety if they would not use similar terminologies. There are two SEPARATE devices. The Medallion (little round thing) uses INTRAnet on the ship * opens your cabin door * gets you on/off the ship * identifies you when you approach the bar/MDR * lets you purchase things in the stores * lets you play on the slot machines in the casino and on tables. * lets your friends locate you when you are out and about on the ship The Medallion Class App has three (or more) purposes 1. To get you registered for your cruise (which you can do some of it on the web-based personalizer). 2. When you are onboard (INTRAnet), you can use your mobile device (phone/tablet/computer) to order room service, to order drinks, to make dinner reservations, to book shore excursions, to purchase a Future Cruise Deposit, connect to the INTERnet, find your friends, play casino games $$$, etc. 3. When you are off the ship (using your home INTERnet), you can your your mobile devices to fill in your registration forms, upload passport, enter your charge card information, Dine My Way, order accessibility equipment, pick your arrival time, view deck plans, etc. I am sure someone with expertise will be able to give more details about how the medallion (coin) works. From my simple understanding, it really doesn't contain significant personal information. But I could be wrong. As for your question about making table reservations. Again, it is my understanding that you can do that with your television once on board. I'm not sure if you need a medallion to view the muster drill video or use the menu on the television for other personalized selections. Trust me, I am a very private person but had no fears about using the Medallion coin while on board. I liked being addressed by my name. I liked being able to find a lost/wandering cabin mate. My medallion coin is attached to a clip that attaches to my pants. It was most useful when I had my hands full with a cup of hot tea and a plate of peanut butter cookies and the door unlocked.
  15. Check out your "other" thread. Don't choose Aft MRD/Amalfi. You will be just fine with the other two.
  16. @Kay Syes, I was a little alarmed by the statement that CC took over the entire MDR. A small corner is all they have ever used. On the Grand, it was starboard side for CC dining.
  17. Correct. If you are mid-ship, you can either walk down from Deck 9 to Deck 5 or 6 using the mid-ship stairs or take any one of the 4 mid-ship elevators plus the 2 panoramic lifts. It is the aft dining room (Amalfi) dining room that you have to go down to deck 7, walk across the Promenade Deck (inside or out) then down another flight of stairs. IF...push comes to shove and you are assigned Amalfi, then just walk to the back of the ship (aft) on Deck 9 and catch the elevator all the way down to Deck 6. This can be a bit daunting.
  18. Staff is rotated after each voyage. There are very "few" bad waiters/JR. waiters. I am sure you will be happy with whichever team you get. If not, then ask to be moved the next night.
  19. If midship, I would opt for one of the two dining rooms accessible from the Piazza. Both are the same size, although the one on deck 6 is partially used for Club Class dining. Can you do stairs? Then I would choose Deck 6 (Capri) over Deck 5 (Santorini) and walk rather elevator to dining room. And avoid Amalfi (Deck 6/aft).
  20. Will this be your first Club Class mini experience? There is absolutely no chaos the first night in the CC MDR. Many of the "regulars" would be in suites enjoying their complimentary dinner at a specialty restaurant. From first day forward, keep in mind that the "first wave" will be through about 1.25-1.5 hours after the doors open. Sometimes they can actually have 3 seatings. I show up between 6:10 and 6:30 and very rarely have had a wait.
  21. Your frustrations are coming in loud but not clear. I am going to try to answer a few of your concerns (that have been well documented on many threads). YOU do not need to have a phone (unless traveling to Australia). YOU can take all of your documents with you to the port and someone will check you in. YOU can print out your luggage tags by signing in to your web based Personalizer. YOU can ask for a old fashion cruise card to open your cabin door. Big Brother won't be watching you then. But neither will YOU get the benefits of the medallion (different from Medallion app). I hope you will enjoy your cruise once on board.
