  1. Whoa. They tried that in one of the Southern Ohio Municipalities. It was a camera set up as a speed trap. Been a while ago, but the local community sued the city they set it up and WON the suit on the grounds of its unconstitutionality. Realitely small city that had tp pay a fine larger than their annual tax intake. I think they appealed, but not sure the outcome. Needless to say, the camera is gone.
  2. I take pics of the name tags to fill in their names when I fill out "Hero Cards" to award them for great service.
  3. Out of all the things I thought would be taxed, traffic congestion never crossed my mind. How will they collect it? Toll booths in and out of the city? I’m sure that will alleviate congestion!
  4. High School Sports HOF induction! I think they ran out of people to award it to…they finally got to my name! 😁
  5. Yeah…I tend to either ignore or walk away from anyone who is ride to me. If I observe someone being rude to someone else, I calmly suggest they take a couple of steps back and take some deep breaths! Best advice ever got was “don’t let your storm interfere with someone else’s sunshine”.
  6. While not a Honda, my Acura TL was that Radiant Red with red interior. LOVED that combo. But, IMHO, Accords are a way better deal than their Acura counterparts. The tech is better and while you give up a smidge in performance, the Accord is just a better package overall. Oh, and they're about $12K cheaper, too. Hard to believe, but my 2024 Accord Touring Hybrid is a year old this month. Not. A. Single. Thing. Has. Gone. Wrong. Just got my first A1 service done...gratis. White Pearl with grey leather. Getting a low of 42 MPG and a high of 48 MPG. No complaints. I love Honda products (even their lawn mowers). The Hybrids are now in high demand and hard to come by around here. I got mine at just the right time.
  7. I should land "knock wood" by 10:00 a.m at LGA....on a Sunday. No checked bags (which is one of my rules for flying in the "day of". Should it be clear sailing to Pier 88? How long of a ride is it? I should be fine as all aboard is about 4:00 p.m. and there's a later flight that gets me in around 1:00 p.m. if the first flight has issues.
  8. Going off the rails a little bit since I don't want to start a new live thread this far in advance.... @cruiseny4life....Since I'n now booked, I'm in full planning mode. First up, getting to Pier 88. Well before the Covid shutdown since I've sailed out of Manhattan. I used to just get a taxi or limo. But, I've had really good luck with NCL's transports recently. If you've used them, pretty good? I'll be coming into LGA....$75 total both ways. I think I spent way more than that on an Uber, but I can't recall the airport I flew in to. I know what I preach, but this go round it's not something I can do. I am sailing out June 16. But, I have an award dinner I MUST attend (since I'm one of the recipients) on Saturday the 15th. I'm flying in the day of.
  9. I shop NCL's WEB site. Published fares are going to be the same. Then, I find something that catches my eye and send it off to my Travel Agent. She applies her (unpublished) discount and perks. But, some of us shop fares like fiends like our friend @cruiseny4life and @Sthrngary. I know I shop fares daily on itineraries, ships and cruise lines I'm interested in. It's kind of like doing the crossword puzzle for me every day with my coffee. Looked this a.m. Those Haven Cabins are selling quickly.
  10. BTW….there are some killer Haven fares on the May Joy sailings right now!
  11. @RocketMan275…I bet you have a couple of pointers for the Prima Haven!
  12. LOL! You know, if I hadn’t just done a Mediterranean cruise last October, I would have looked at that cruise more seriously. I’m sure you’ll love it. Advice….hmmmmm…..I’m pretty low maintenance! -call the pre-cruise concierge to set up pillows, snacks, reservations for dinner! -engage your Butler and Concierges (all of them) as early as possible as the Prima has a large Haven! I introduce yourself. Get some personal rapport going. Don’t try this when they’re supper busy. But, in the hall, at their desk when no one‘s there…that’s when you want to chat them up a bit. -same with bartenders and wait staff. Chat them up when they aren’t busy. -get familiar with where the Haven elevators are. They cover several decks. You’ll use them a lot! -weather in the Atlantic may be dicey. Find nooks in the Haven away from the bar area. That way when the weather isn’t cooperating, you can have a Haven spot to go to before while everyone else is looking for a place to go! If I think of more, I’ll post here!
  13. I think CDG in general is probably one of the worst airports I've flown in or out of. I've been pick pocketed there. I suffered through "rude" locals who cut in front of me in the check in line (all the while cursing me in French when I politely showed them the end of the line). Security rifled through my luggage, throwing half of it on the floor for me to pick up after they were finished. CDG is just a dreadful airport.
  14. You are correct...non-stop flight. There are direct flights that CAN have a stopover.
  15. I must be a rebel. I just grab my desert plate along with a fork and head for my cabin. I don't ask. Haven't had anyone stop me (so far).
  16. Thanks all. No wrong answers. Both itineraries are desirable. Given it's my birthday (month) in June, I just booked the Joy, 7 nite to Bermuda in an HI cabin. As always, kind of last minute, so although the GF has an open invite, it's questionable whether she will be able to get time off work to join me. She wants to go. But, she knows me well as she said "would you not go if I couldn't?" It's a rhetorical question. God love her! It's been quite a while since I've been to Bermuda (10 years ago). I was in New EnglandCanada a year and a half ago on the Breakaway. Great cruise. Met other great Cruise Critic posters there. And, I was in a Balcony. It too was "cheap" (about $700 all in).
  17. FWIW....my rules of flying in the day of the cruise....reason for doing so doesn't matter. A) Flight gets you to the pier at least 3 hours before all aboard B) It's a direct flight (less chance of delay via the connecting flight/airport C) There are more than one airport within an hour of the pier (where you can fly into if your original flight is delayed/cancelled. You open up options to catch another flight. D) There are other outbound (later) flights you can take to get you to the pier (See A) if your origination flight is canceled E) You have all carry ons so luggage can not get delayed or lost...also precludes having to wast time at baggage claim F) You've pre-arranged a ride to the pier. If they don't show up or are late, there's always UBER/Lyft/Taxi G) Insurance. It won't get you to the pier on time if something goes sideways, but it will lessen the sting Sometimes flying in the day of is just inevitable. Done it before. But, even with my careful planning, I had the destination airport go on lockdown with a bomb scare and had to sit on the tarmac for 90 minutes before we go to the "all clear". Still made it on time.
  18. Thanks, Gary! I’m leaning towards Bermuda. New ship (for me) and Bermuda is so nice!
  19. You’re right! I should have been more specific. Don’t delay my (our) arrival(s) and we’ll be cruise compadres!
  20. OK…all you Haven Vets…. Have an opportunity to book a 7 day Bermuda cruise to either Bermuda in June (my B-Day) or in Sept for Canadian itinerary. Both in HI cabin. Been years since I’ve been to Bermuda. But, Sept in Canada makes it right in the middle of leaves changing. Any input on Joy (I’ve never sailed her)? Sailed her to either Bermuda or Canada? Both are cheap (I mean really cheap for Haven) and about the same fare! TIA!
  21. I do think the Customer Service Agents have to be a special breed to listen to the craziness and they face on a daily basis. I've witnessed dozens of times, too. Some I've heard... -you screwed me. My cabin is smaller than what I saw in the pictures on line. (guest showed the picture which was a totally different category) -my phone fell overboard. What is your reimbursement policy? -my daughter was kicked out of Entourage. I want credit since she can't use the club. (I can't even imagine what she did to get kicked out of a club filled with teens). -I didn't know Cagney's was a la carte. I'm not paying my $xxx bill. (apparently someone without FAS, as the service rep tried to explain) -My son fell off the stool at the pool bar. We want compensation. (this is a tough one...I see it happen pretty regularly. Each time it was someone who was way drunk and they were promptly escorted out of the pool area. Is it possible they just fell? I suppose....probably not likely, though). -I can't use the climbing wall, I want compensation (that particular day at sea there was a torrential down pour) Plenty of others, but it gets crazy.
  22. We should all consider ourselves lucky if this ends up being the case. What is it that causes some adults, responsible enough to afford a cruise, all of a sudden turn into precocious 13 years olds who seem incapable of even using a pencil? The Campbells at issue here seem to be totally unable to understand the consequences of their tour operator's ineptitude. Yet, they booked the cruise, got themselves from home to the ship, booked this tour with someone. But, they come across as "we're angry at NCL because we didn't think their requirements applied to us". Seriously?
  23. @YVRteacher…as always, enjoying your review immensely. And, couldn’t agree with you more…. “The biggest downside to Shanghai Noodles is it shares space with the casino. It’s like eating a nice meal in a cigarette factory” My biggest complaint on the -away ships!
  24. I think this may be NCL's WEB Administrator dept....
