  1. That’s great. Thanks! Corn was about waist high. It was the best excursion of the trip. We had a ghost player who was in the movie talk and play ball!
  2. The sailing we are booking for September 2024 is 8 nights. My husband will not go any more formal than a sports jacket ( after 45 years of wearing a suit every day). I hope the optional part of formal kicks in! I haven’t put on a dress since my daughter’s wedding. I hope we won’t be uncomfortable.
  3. Am I correct that Symphony Aquamarine Veranda Suites on the ninth floor are 2017 renovated suites ( no bathtub and not 2023). It’s so confusing as to what’s new, replaced or worn out.
  4. We are currently on the Viking Mississippi ( very unhappy as two out of three meals are buffet and people are getting sick) . However today we are in Iowa and the excursion is to Field of Dreams!
  5. I am holding an Aquamarine Veranda Suite for next September. It was impossible to see photos before booking. I’m on the ninth floor so I hope it’s the renovation ( no bathtub which we don’t use). The first stateroom we picked was 30% blocked view. Impossible to see this without some one volunteering the info. Going on Crystal is like a secret double Handshake club.
  6. No, what I wrote was accurate. However there was the always available salmon, steak ( tough and over salted , and chicken breast. ) we did have on this cruise one day a delicious prime roast beef at lunch. On the Fourth of July a sliced tenderloin. And many nights there is a raw bar with very big shrimp.
  7. Cagney on The Bliss was pretty good. We had a large party and we were very jolly. You will have a great time. All the appetizers and sides are great. The steak is fine and like most local stateside steakhouses. It is not Peter Luger or even Ruth Cris. I don’t believe they use prime. But it is still a fun night.
  8. Don’t remember what the original post was! We have been on numerous Celebrity retreat stateroom ( Edge and Reflection among many) with and without access to the MDR menu. Mostly preferred the MDR. Luminae is weird. The Haven restaurant ( and I would only go on a ship with a real Haven because the Pearl and Gem substitutes don’t count) is much much better. Even though the menu doesn’t change the quality is much better in the Haven. I would say that service is equal. Jumbo shrimp cocktail, surf and surf and the banana parfait seals the deal.
  9. We have never cruised Crystal. 50 cruises on various lines from Royal Caribbean, Princess, NCL (Haven), Celebrity Retreat, Oceania, Regent. Special anniversary next year so we are ready to book. Worried that I won’t know the ins and outs of excursions, specialty restaurants , pre cruise hotel and transfers. Flying from NY to London. Any help appreciated!
  10. It doesn’t help that the room next door blasts the tv starting at 5:45am.
  11. Currently on Viking Mississippi. Just passed and missed St Louis. Was told they couldn’t stop at the port due to currents, locks, loss of time due to traffic then they pull over and 22 people with covid are disembarked with luggage. They do not know what they are doing. Breakfast and lunch are buffet with everyone handling the same serving pieces. there is minimum entertainment ( a duo and the house band) for days on end. Tonight the dinner menu was one fish entree and cauliflower vegan. I had them make up a Caesar salad and shrimp from the appetizer. Most people are Viking loyalists from European cruises. I’m told that I have an attitude. I’m so bored I could throw myself overboard.
  12. Yes we tip our steward $20 at beginning of cruise and extra later if we really think he/she is special because they share. We tip the Butler around $100-150 depending on our needs being met. We tip the concierge if they have been pleasant or particularly helpful $50-$100. If they print out a crossword without grumbling. Do a lot of escorting. We don’t drink alcohol but if the bar staff slips us a free coke we tip $5 each time. We tip the Maitre’D if they seat us quickly at a good table ( end of cruise &25-50). But that’s just us.
  13. When we traveled with our grandkids, it was great to find cut up fruit, vegetables and dip, cheese and crackers when we came back to the room from an excursion. This way we didn’t have to rush to eat dinner because the kids were starving.
  14. I don’t like the Haven seats. I like center third row and I always get it by being escorted to the theater via the crew elevator and secret side entrance before the main doors open. The assistant concierge or a butler always takes a group of us down. It’s my favorite perk.
  15. Has anyone done this excursion from Le Havre? How was it. Thinking about booking a cruise specifically for this. Currently on Viking Mississippi and have decided that I hate river cruises.
  16. We are looking at a marina cruise September 2024 London round trip. It has a port Le Havre from which you can do an all day trip to Normandy. Has anyone taken this excursion. We had three Tauck riverboats cancelled during covid and we are currently on the Viking Mississippi ( very unhappy). Much appreciate any info to help us make up our mind. This would be our fifth Oceania. We loved the Riviera.
  17. We had those storms yesterday in Greenland Mississippi late afternoon with lightning and pitch black skies but today it is just very hot. The boat is unaffected as was Graceland. Priscilla has built a huge complex. We only had three hours and you need double that time with the slow pace people move through the house.
  18. No historians. Very disappointing . No shaded outdoor spaces. Very short staffed in dining venues. Food quality good. Nice raw bar except when there are shell bits in the oysters. Huge crowds at morning excursion to Graceland so not enough time to see everything. Golf carts available to get you up the levee ( thank goodness) buses following the ship and drivers are wonderful.
  19. I am currently on the Viking Mississippi. Just kill me now. Bored out of my mind. No professional lecturer ( just the CD who is working like a dog) many nights with NO entertainment other than the trio. Two out of three meals are Buffet with limited service. Never again.
  20. You get all your original perks plus standard Haven perks like butler concierge Royal treatment wonderful restaurant etc. only get alcohol package if it was part of your original perks
