  1. Hope you had (and possibly are still having) a wonderful cruise and wondering if you took this excursion and if so, please share your thoughts. It looks so interesting! We board Ovation next weekend and although we rarely take ship excursions, are seriously considering this one.
  2. Hooray! ...received my suite number today. Deck 11 right down the hall from the Observation Bar. 🍸 Cheers to that!
  3. Thank you. Interesting to learn that even on sold out cruises allocation would sometimes show only a few days before departure. I guess it's better than "day of"...and yes, I'd previously checked my online account and boarding pass but of course checked again, both still showing "to be assigned"... Oh well, I'll know for sure in 10 days 8 hours 17 minutes. Something more to look forward to! Thanks again!
  4. Very much looking forward to a wonderful first time on Ovation in just over a week! ...however, this also happens to be my first time booking a "guarantee" and I've yet to receive a cabin assignment despite the website showing no availability in our guaranteed suite category. As it's a penthouse suite (another first for me...hooray), I'm not too worried as they all look to be in wonderful locations but would think we'd have been given our suite assignment by now as this particular category is sold out. Has anyone experienced this before? Not complaining, mind you...just curious.
  5. This is great news! I've been told they haven't been allowing this since Covid so am very happy to hear it worked for you. Whom did you contact in order to make the downline request and if by email, how long until they responded?
  6. So glad you started this thread...I, too, have only sailed the 3 smaller Seabourn ships but will be on Ovation for the first time next month so am very interested to hear your thoughts of the newer class ship. Carry on and many thanks in advance!
  7. Thank you for this. Sojourn has always been my favorite ship for many reasons and the enjoyment of reading your daily posts has made it even more so. Please know I shall miss your wonderful writing along with your lovely sense of humor...both have been greatly appreciated. And now I find myself in a conundrum. What to read while enjoying my morning coffee? I fear nothing will come close... Cheers to you and safe travels home!
  8. Short answer: No, I have not been successful Many thanks to those who chimed in with helpful advice. So far and not surprisingly, calling Captain's Club and regular reservations was not helpful at all. I spent a lot of time on hold and those who managed to not disconnect were indeed clueless and/or came back with a hard NO. However, one kind soul suggested I call back in the new year as things were changing daily, or so he said. One can only hope... Next week, I shall try the alternate methods suggested by @jelayne and @Arizona Wildcat and will report back. Thanks again and a happy weekend to all!
  9. But on the bright side, three full days of you and Patti not having to listen to me yammer on ...consider it a vacation within a vacation. 😁
  10. As we prefer to upgrade on longer flights, I worry about this very thing and in looking at Viking cruise fares with "free international airfare", wonder if it's even worth it. I would pay for Air+ in order to book my preferred airline but would that also include the ability to upgrade or is it a roll of the dice? And if we decide to book our own flights, choosing to opt out of Viking's "free airfare" altogether, will we be given a set amount of onboard credit in its place?
  11. Good question...unfortunately, I don't know the answer. Hopefully someone will chime in and let us know.
  12. Thank you. This gives me hope. I shall bite the bullet and give Celebrity a ring...
  13. Thanks. ….another fear is if weather causes the ship to miss Bermuda πŸ™„
  14. Is it possible to embark at the second port of a cruise, in this case Bermuda, and to make things more interesting, a transatlantic? A family wedding has just been announced for the very weekend my spring transatlantic departs. After departing Ft. Lauderdale, the next port on our itinerary is three days later in Bermuda before six days at sea. I'm considering joining the cruise in Bermuda. I've departed a transatlantic early in the past so know that IS possible but never before have I embarked at a later port of call. Decided to try my luck here first to see if any fellow cruisers have successfully done this in order to save myself from who knows how long on hold if I call Celebrity. Thanks in advance for any helpful input!
  15. New Amex offer for Holland America Line... Spend $1000 or more, get $300 back expires 12/31/22 Appeared on both my Amex Platinum and Blue Cash Everyday cards
  16. Many thanks as I will be on Ovation for the first time in November. Can't wait!
  17. 🀣 Sorry about your hotel...but thank you for this... Always nice to begin one's day with a hot cup of coffee and a good chuckle
  18. Excellent plan!…we’re definitely on the same page, feedbag and all. πŸ˜‰
  19. Looks wonderful! Completely jealous. Btw, what was your "standing order" delivery time? We'd like to do the same on the Ovation in November...just can't decide what time is best to work in all the "before, after and between meal" treats. And a big THANK YOU for sharing your trip with us! Have thoroughly enjoyed reading along. Love the photos, etc and very much looking forward to even more with your upcoming Rocky Mountaineer adventure!
  20. Question for recent Voyager cruisers....does RCCL provide electric kettles for use in cabins? I am not in a suite but in a "spacious balcony cabin" and heard tea making facilities were provided "upon request" to all cabin categories on RCCL cruises departing UK and Baltic. I'm on the upcoming Voyager Arctic crossing beginning in Copenhagen and am wondering if this applies to transatlantics as well. This will be my first on RCCL but have been able to request electric kettles on past Celebrity crossings while in a similar cabin category and am hoping to do the same on Voyager. I know I'm not allowed to bring my own but would rather not have to rely on room service for hot water. Thanks in advance!
  21. Wonderful posts!...love the photos...so happy you started this thread and will be following as well. Looking forward to more...😊
