  1. And why would one take an antibiotic for a virus? Or are we not talking about a virus now?
  2. I apologize if I gave the impression that those foods are anywhere near my regular diet! I have each maybe twice a year - at home cause it's too expensive in restaurants. In no way is most of the food we eat while traveling high falutin'. Squid cooked street side in Bangkok. An amazing soup in Vietnam. A fantastic - mostly pork so avert your eyes 🙂 - Saturday lunch dish in Rio. that was all manner of the non-prime parts of the pig with beans, rice, okra , salad and more. And speaking of PBJ, of which I'm not a huge fan, my husband says I make THE best egg salad in the whole world. And the main reasons I want to get back home is #1 to see Hairy Red Dog and a strong #2 is to cook. I LOVE to cook. So again, my apologies.
  3. Reading @KristelleI can say we've only used one company and these others that are mentioned sound much better. Gate 1 has occasional 'group dinners' which we learned to skip as the food was kinda 'one size fits all.' And we would do our research and go off on our own.
  4. On a cruise it's more about planning a good lunch 🙂
  5. My husband was one for most of his career. He thinks it's a great idea. You've clearly never had a carry on bag fall on your head 🙂 You won't believe what the next edict will be. LOL
  6. LOL. Ooooohhhhh, that's one of my major joys when traveling is planning a great dinner OUT.
  7. I've long said that I have a goal of being "Czarina of the Universe" and my first edict will be to ban overhead bins. It either fits under your seat or you check it. ???
  8. Do you get a slice or a whole pizza? Is it thin crust? Can you ask for it extra crispy?
  9. Nor had I. Google was my friend. It was opened since we were last there.
  10. What is the substitute for a cloth towel???
  11. And I'm so glad! I groan when I ask and find out there's no anchovy...so I don't order it.
  12. Caesar salad was invented in Mexico!!!
  13. Great point. If you're not attaching it to something like a lounge chair then all someone has to do is grab the bag.
  14. Actually it seems that Mexican cows are both grass fed and sometimes grass finished. That is VERY popular and some Wagyu beef is being raised that way also. It's a plus in the US if it is...and costs more. I've had grass-finished beef and lamb and prefer it. It tastes more like beef and lamb. Stronger taste, more real. And, of course, we can't ignore the planet! So much water is 'wasted' raising grain. I just read this which explains it far better than I can: This comes out in the flavour as well: grass-fed striploin steaks are going to have an earthier, more complex flavour that often reminds first-time eaters of game meats like deer and moose (which makes sense, given that deer and moose also tend to have a wild plant-based diet).Sep 22, 2023 But to each his own.
  15. Street food all over the world is one of my favorites. Unfortunately the rat we had in Thailand was overcooked.
  16. I checked and Mexicans consume chicken, pork and beef in that order. Perhaps more importantly: Where does Mexico export beef to? The United States The United States was the main country of destination of Mexico's bovine meat exports in 2022, with an exports value of more than 1.68 billion U.S. dollars. Canada was the second leading destination, with 67.01 million dollars worth of bovine meat exports in that same year.Feb 5, 2024 Mexico: bovine meat exports value 2022, by country - Statista statista.com https://www.statista.com › statistics › exports-bovine-mea..
  17. We do a ton of our travel in spring and fall. We were in Antarctica in the middle of summer however. LOL.
  18. We probably did two weeks in Scotland. Started in Glasgow and went up through somewhat (I suck at geography) through the middle, stopping at a distillery, on up to the coast and then west over to that coast. Then down there and back to Glasgow where Bob played golf at Troon!
  19. Why don't you ask them if that dish is for the gringos? Beef isn't even traditional.
  20. How about the tortilla espanola ? I think they should stick with Italian and Asian Fusion 🙂
  21. I'm betting not. If a cuisine hasn't made big and long term inroads in US then it might be to 'wild' for the majority. JMO
  22. It does, doesn't it? But I'm not sure cruise pax are up to the challenge. 🙂
  23. I think you're right but, boy, would I stand up for some. How about you, @Kay S? https://www.nytimes.com/2017/05/16/dining/modern-mexican-food-steps-into-the-spotlight.html And if the Adria brothers have gotten into it, I've never needed a reason to head back to Barcelona 🙂
