  1. Hello out there We have sailed NCL many times but this is our first Mediterranean (indeed, our first trip to Europe!) and I have some questions if someone would be so kind to answer. It has been a minute since we have sailed NCL. We have 2 free specialty dinners included, can we make reservations prior - I did check the website but unclear if I book these if payment will default to one of our complimentary or we will be charged again. What is the best way to reserve dining-including complimentary dining? This is a port intensive cruise with only 1 sea day and most port days until 6-8 pm. Are the free restaurants just first come first serve. Also, not intending to start dress code convo, I personally like to “dress for dinner”, but what is customary on European NCL cruise. The last one we took was out of NY to Bermuda and as I remember, it was all pretty casual. Thanks in advance for any helpful advice Karen (not a Karen - just Karen😉)
  2. You will love Marmalade. We started to enjoy a pre cruise dinner there when Chef Peter’s daughter was about 3 years old. Now she is a young lady. They have survived through the pandemic and had to completely rebuild after Maria. Peter used to give out cards with his recipe for white bean soup. Not sure if he still does.
  3. How do you prove that you are a stockholder and does this have to be applied at booking or can it be applied anytime prior to your cruise?
  4. We booked several months in advance. Got it all set up and when it got closer, just reconfirmed. They were great keeping track of our flights
  5. We just stayed 1 night prior to our Voyager cruise in late March.
  6. Robin posted one for Lori 281-804-5901 The number I have for Kay is 281-389-3109. I don’t do facebook either, but reached out to them through my husband’s acct. After a few DM’s we started communicating by text
  7. Following with great interest. We will be on this same itinerary next April. We have been on the Summit 3 time (twice before re-do and once after). We love the ship but have been reading some not so favorable comments lately. Hope you have a great trip and the Summit is back up to her excellent standards.
  8. Kay picked us up in an SUV, I don’t remember what kind but we were comfortable. We had two medium suitcases, one small, a backpack and another duffel bag. She did offer to move seat up to accommodate my husband, he is right at 6’ but he was fine
  9. We just returned from a Galveston, not our first, I think we have about 8 under our belt. We are usually picked up by my brother driving from Dallas, but that wasn’t possible this time. We used a group called Galveston Saltwater Moms. It is a group of ladies from the area who drive people to and from both Houston airports to Galveston. It was $70.00 for my husband and I. Great communication from our driver, Kay. She monitored our flight and was waiting at the airport. We always like to fly a day early and spend the day before in Galveston (rather than Houston). She picked us up from Hobby, dropped us at the Tremont. We took the shuttle from the Tremont to the port and then back from the port to the Tremont. We had a late flight, so she picked us up around noon at the Tremont (they stored our luggage) and took us back to Hobby. You can only find them on Facebook.
  10. Thanks Mike! Had to call to get it (kept getting a glitch message online), but Captain’s Club took care of it in 5 minutes. BTW, this is for the Apex Dec 7 -14 cruise
  11. How can you see if an upgrade is available? I have the classic but when I log into my cruise it just has an option of 20% off premium, no mention of upgrade. Thanks
  12. Is anyone familiar with the company or link to reserve golf carts? thanks
  13. Just a little bit of a warning, we were once stuck out in the channel due to high winds and barely made a 2:00 flight from Hobby (much closer than IAH). There is also sometimes a fog issue in Galveston. 99% of the time, you will make it but be prepared to go with an alternate plan if you don’t (later flight, possible overnight with a next day flight)
  14. If you want a great run and cruise, I suggest the Miami half marathon- I think it is sometime in April. Have done it twice and it is great. Run along South Beach as the sun is coming up and then over the causeway looking at the ships in port knowing that in a few short hours, you will be on one in recovery mode. Started running in my 50s- ran 2 marathons in one day- my first and last! (New York in 2004). Have done 3-4 half and many 10k and 5k. At 72, not so much anymore though I try to run 2.5-3 miles 3 or 4 times a week. Keep at it and respect the rest days! Any run you finish on your feet is a good run, regardless of time. Sorry for the derail - now back to cruising and relaxing
  15. Chiming in as we are looking for the opposite. We debark in Trieste and are staying in Venice for a few days post cruise
  16. I hope I a pleasantly surprised in December when we sail in our first on Apex. I visited one and thought it would be okay for a week, but we shall see. We are normal balcony fans and really like the sunset verandas, but they are hard to come by.
  17. We are booked with a group and not sure if we would be eligible for a Royal Up offer. On our last Royal cruise, (booked independent) we received an e-mail with the offers. On Celebrity, I seemed to remember a spot to check for “Move Up” offers but I can’t it on Royal. I find both of these websites less than easy to navigate. Does anyone have an email address that I can a send a request to? Thanks
  18. Quick ?. Are there any discounts for Diamond members on purchasing the drink package. If so, how do you purchase. Thanks in advance
  19. Apparently, between last Sunday and Monday, I have become lactose intolerant. Don’t drink that much milk but I do like cream in my coffee. Are there any options (never looked because I never needed to) or should I bring my own non dairy options. Thanks
  20. We are sailing December 9 on the Apex. We generally pre purchase some type of dining package. After looking at the restaurants, we are most interested in “Dinner on The Edge”. Would this be an option with the dining package? Thanks!
  21. I’m not sure of the excursion, but if beach is what you are looking for, it is pretty easy to just take a taxi to the beach yourself.
  22. The casino on the Allure 2 weeks ago was disgusting. Sorry smokers. That is probably the one reason we won’t be on a Royal cruise any time soon. Rest of trip was amazing but the entire atrium level midship stunk of smoke. You could smell it as soon as you got off elevators. The non smoking casino was probably 1//10 the size of the other. There is a non -smoking side, but the smoke apparently doesn’t follow rules. We became Diamond on Royal and transferred to Elite on Celebrity and for the past few years that has been our cruise line of choice. The smoking casino and the bumper car stroller derby just isn’t for me.
