  1. Unless you go on a ship with less than 1000 passengers you are not going to Bar Harbor after 2024. I guess NCL is out of Bar Harbor for good. NCL still have Bar Harbor on the 2025 itinerary and they know dam well they are not stopping there I would take a 4th day in Bermuda over Portland in a heartbeat
  2. What burns me is months ago, right after we booked the cruise I went online to the Bar Harbor Harbor info site. It has a bunch of info along with a cruise ship schedule. The Gem was not shown in Bar Harbor on July 4th. I called NCL and they said no, they must have had a typo and NCL had the Gem docking there. I'd like to ring someones neck at NCL. We could have easily picked another date
  3. We have been there before and love. Going with friends who have never been. Already had the little Chevy Bolt booked to explore the park.... oh well
  4. Looks like the harbor is closed for the 4th in Bar Harbor. You would have thought this would have been passed along months ago to NCL. I would have picked another date
  5. June 28th - July 5th sailing..... of course they did it after final payment What I don't understand is the new capacity for Bar Harbor was suppose to take effect in 2025. Cruises there for 2024 were Ok to go since they had signed the agreement in 2023
  6. IDK about that. I've done a number of behind the scenes tour and on the last one someone asked about the different burgers. The head of the kitchen looked bewildered, the woman ask aren't their different hamburgers patties for the buffet, pool deck and Haven. He said no, we have one type of burger and we have thousands of them... who knows, maybe some ships get different patties?
  7. Thet don't weigh your bags at least our bags have never been weighed , I few times my 30 inch bag I used to carry my diving gear is close to 60lbs. I tip the porter accordingly or put the bag on the cart myself at the port
  8. I can't imagine how that would work. The food is cooked in front of people. I don't think they have a separate kitchen for cooking take out
  9. These are really good....... https://www.williams-sonoma.com/products/galaxy-desserts-almond-croissants/?pkey=s~croissants~37&sbkey=default
  10. My wife and I also arrive early. Our last 3-4 cruises we have driven to the port. Since I normally leave for work at 6am to miss traffic we do the same thing going to the cruise port. In NYC we try to arrive at 9am. I would rather be sitting in a terminal bored out of my mind than sitting in backed up traffic Lol
  11. My wife and I are in 10502 in June. You are free to use the balcony any time. At night your curtains must be drawn so no light shines onto the balcony. Their will either be instructions in the cabin or your butler will tell you what to do
  12. Problem with the little bath towels is the never dry out unless you put a fan on them.
  13. Might want to look at a forward or aft suite on the Gem. Same perks as the Haven with the exception of no use of the Haven courtyard or sundeck
  14. Add in two trips to Europe, three to Vegas, one to Tampa and Miami. Yup for the price its done really well
  15. We Coolife.... its been banged around for 7? years now and its still holding up will https://amzn.to/4cV6n1r
  16. Yup, we have bought or had spa passes a dozen times. I can count on one hand the times I have seen teens in there. Its a quite place
  17. On our 12 day on the Getaway in the Haven I order surf and turf minus the surf 3 nights. On two of those nights they brought me two filets without me asking
  18. I remember reading your review, it was great!
  19. We have sailed the Gem 4 times in the past (twice in a suite) and love the Gem. I like the size of it, has never felt crowded. We are passing on Thermal Suite passes this time around however I think its one of the nicer one's for the size. I love the Great Outdoors, probably one of my favorite places on the ship to have breakfast or lunch. We debated between the Joy and the Gem. NYC is only a 90 minute drive for us vs Boston is 5 hours, the Joy when we booked was cheaper. However is really wanted a smaller ship and are looking forward to at stop in Bar Harbor. This will be the last year NCL stops there unless something changes
  20. Actually Haven and Suite guest (Suites on the Jewel class ships) not including the old Mini Suites.... I forget what they are called now
  21. Two weeks before us on the Gem. I'll be looking forward to any review you write on Bermuda. June is the perfect month in Bermuda
  22. The NCL Concierge email is .... norwegianconciergedesk@ncl.com I contacted them last week and got a response in 45 minutes
  23. Personally I would do easy walk off. Get it line early and the elevator should go quick. It can get pretty crazy and yes having an AirTag will help. I had to use it in this mess
