Whew.  I am exhausted.  Fairy lights on tree, charcuterie boards ready,  tents, dance floor, aisle runners up, still to do a million little things.  Reversal dinner big success.  Too much Moscato for me.  Lol. Tomorrow is the big day.  Whew.

Funny you should say that ... After posting the good wishes to Greg, I've got a call from DS1, asking how are we doing (we both had missile alerts during the day...).

While replying, another alert was sound, first at my son's, so he left me to run to the shelter, and then also in our city.

For @helen haywood, DS1 just sent me a pic of their improvised shelter under their building with the sac sands...

    and for aussie @aussielozzie18

a pic of a missile launched towards Tel Aviv in the sky, and an Iron Dome rocket "following" it (the 2 lights)

and then -- the moment of successful interception and.... BOOM !!!

Dani, I can’t imagine what you and your family are going through.  I feel guilty feeling bad that our granddaughter has to go out trick or treating in light rain and chilly temperatures.   Hugs to you.

We picked up enough of the full size candy so we would have 500 pieces to distribute at our house and our daughter’s house.   This wasn’t all of it, because Sam’s Club didn’t have Swedish Fish..

We never have any leftover candy, because we tell some of the kids to come back at the end of trick or treat hours, and they get what is left.

Holy Moly!  I guess I should be grateful that we only get a few tick-or-treaters, but actually, I wish we had more.  I love giving out candy to the kids.

    Fun morning yesterday.

Rearranging things in the guest bathroom I saw a little lizard.  Caught him and put him in a nice bush.

Was on the way to my closet with clean clothes when I saw Coal had something.  Maybe a bird?  No it was a chipmunk who was very active.  I screamed at Coal who dropped the chipmunk and the race was on.  Chipmunk running for his life, Coal wanting his toy back and I following screaming at the cat.  The chipmunk ran up a curtain and perched at the top.  I threw the cat in a bathroom keeping an eye on Chip, looking out for any other cats approaching and texted my husband "help". He came running in from his shop, I tossed him a towel and ran to get an animal box that I have on hand.  In the box Chip went.  In a few minutes we had all calmed down enough for me to examine him for damage.  He checked out ok with no cuts and nothing broken so I put him outside far away from the cat pen.

Those critters were lucky you are an animal lover and know how to deal with them humanely.  Good job!

For all of our whiskey drinkers in Pennsylvania, just saw this, this morning.

The Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board (PLCB), through its Limited-Release Lottery, will award lottery winners the opportunity to purchase 4,429 bottles of rare whiskeys.

Pennsylvania residents and licensees will have until 5 p.m. Friday to opt in to the lottery by visiting the Limited-Release Lottery web page at FWGS.com.

This event will feature six products in five lotteries. If a participant wins the right to purchase a bottle in a drawing, they will be removed from subsequent drawings in that lottery. Purchase is limited to one bottle per participant per lottery. Only one entry per household per lottery is allowed; duplicative entries will be disqualified.

Lotteries will be held, in the following order, to award the opportunity to purchase individual bottles:

    Lottery 1

Blanton’s Gold Straight Bourbon, $119.99 each.

Blanton’s Straight From the Barrel Bourbon, $149.99 each.

    Lottery 2

Eagle Rare Straight Bourbon 17-Year-Old 2022 Release, $109.99 each.

    Lottery 3

Heaven Hill Heritage Collection Straight Corn Whiskey 20-Year-Old 2023 Edition, $289.99 each.

    Lottery 4

Russell’s Reserve Straight Bourbon 13-Year-Old Barrel Proof, $149.99 each.

    Lottery 5

Stagg Straight Bourbon Barrel Proof, $54.99 each.

Virginia's Alcoholic Beverage Control Board also has lotteries. This was the most recent one: My son likes bourbon, so I enter the lottery on his behalf since it's limited to one entry per person.  I've never won one.  We did not submit entries for either of the Michter's.  🙂  Who in the world buys $6,000 bottles of whiskey?

Virginia ABC will distribute four special whiskeys via lottery on our website. The lottery will be open for entries Monday, October 9 through Friday, October 13. Winners and non-winners will be notified via email by October 20, 2023.

Michter’s Limited Release 20 Year Bourbon

For multi-product lotteries, Virginia ABC runs a separate lottery for each product. To enter the lottery for more than one product, customers must enter a separate entry form for each individual lottery.

Sorry to hear he isn’t in the best of health. I think it was you that posted a picture of a heated kitty bed. We want to get one for Chloe. Is this the one? What do you think about it?

Thanks, Renee.  Yes, that is the same heated bed we got for Marcel.  We first bought the sage colored one the same as in the link you provided.  Marcel enjoyed it right away.  We then bought a second one that is brown but identical to the sage one.  It was priced less than the sage one, but I found no difference between the two.  We put the brown one upstairs in his room, and kept the sage one downstairs in our living room because it is prettier.

After Marcel sleeps in it he gets out and plops down on the floor to cool off.  After 5 or 10 minutes he often goes right back into the bed.  It does not get hot to touch, but I put a folded bath towel in the bed anyway.

After seeing how much Marcel liked it, my son bought the same bed for their two cats.  Unfortunately, and neither one of them will lay in it.

    How is Marcel doing?

Thanks for asking.  He's really showing his age (16), and has lost more weight.  A couple of years ago he was almost 15 pounds, which is normal for a Maine Coon, but was 9.6 last week at the vet.  He can still jump onto the 30 inch tall desk, where he has a heated bed, though!

Bingo!   You are quick with the answer.  My daughter does that every year for her first grade students.  They grow from those microscopic crawlers, to bigger caterpillars.

    IMG_5566.thumb.jpeg.ac3cb6b23377d087fadb1b03dc356b64.jpeg

To a chrysalis (which is hard to see here)

    IMG_9017.thumb.jpeg.d2113828e02d86e4ace5ebd60fae3595.jpeg

    To eventually a butterfly.

    IMG_9016.thumb.jpeg.cc5185ad30e6424193b0b1def543538e.jpeg

The butterfly just emerged, and I had to rush out and buy an orange and take to her at school this morning.  That is so the butterfly can feed, until the kids are in school to release it.

That's a fun project for kids and grownups alike.  I did it with our granddaughter four years ago.  Somehow I managed to capture the caterpillar shedding its skin and turning into a chrysalis, and a butterfly emerging from its chrysalis.

So I started to take pictures and DW asks... "what are you doing..."  me: " I'm going to post pictures of the trailer on cruise critic". DW: "Oh no you aren't, It's a mess...there's laundry to fold not the bed, the dishes have to be put away, none of the pictures are hung, blah blah blah blah..."

I'll post them but I'll have to wait until she gets organized probably by Saturday LOL.

Soooo, have you folded the laundry, put away the dishes and hung the pictures yet? 🤣

Poor Bobby is gone. In addition to his out-of-control hyperthyroidism, his last labs showed very poor heart and liver function. And then this past week, he developed ascites, with fluid building up and distending his abdomen. We were able to get him into the vet this morning. Poor baby, he was in pain, and we agreed to have him euthanized. He was the last of my mom's cats. It is for the best, but always so sad.

Sweet Bobby was well loved.  Hugs to you.

Well this week has been a challenge.  My son moved to Florida for many reasons but one was to help his father  who was having some health problems.  Sunday my son called me to let me know his father had fallen while he was leaving a restaurant and had broken his hip.  Monday they did a hip replacement.  Tuesday my son called to say that his dad was being moved to icu because he was not doing well.  His dad ended up passing away that night.  It has been really hard on my son. Today the funeral home said the ME might have to do an autopsy to find a clear cause of death for the death certificate.   Even more challenging is the fact that my Ex left a financial mess for my son to decipher. My heart hurts for my son having to go through all this.  I am thankful that my son's fiance is such a wonderful young woman who has been there for him.

What a sad situation for your son to be faced with. I’m glad he has the support of his fiancé and also from you.  Heartfelt {HUGS} to you all.

My heart is heavy today.  I found out this morning that one of my closest TX friends passed away suddenly a few days ago. Recently, she laughed when I told her she was a new friend of mine, of only 20 years.

She was found on the floor by a friend who had her key.  She was rushed to the hospital and passed away 3 days later. The friend who found her did not have my contact info but she was able to call someone who alerted me today.

The only chronic ailment she had was asthma (that I knew of).  I have no idea what the cause of death was but it really doesn't much matter.  She's gone forever. Tomorrow is a memorial service for her.  In life, she chose to be cremated when the time came, as was her husband a few years ago.  They had no children and doted on their nieces, nephews and their grandnieces and grandnephews. They were world travelers after retirement from gov't careers.  They also visited every single U.S. presidential library.   Asia, Scandanavia, Australia, France were their playgrounds.  True cultural history buffs. I love you Cheri. I'm devastated. I'll miss our many phone calls, our laughter, our yummy lunches.  YOU were the ultimate mah jongg queen. I'll miss you forever.

If you have a good friend you haven't spoken to in awhile, give her/him a call and smile together.

I knew this was a safe place to come in and "talk".

    Im so sorry for the loss of your friend. It sounds like she had a wonderful life. May you always enjoy your memories of your time spent with her. {{hugs}}
